THE HOLY FAMILY PROGRAM
7 Days / 6 Nights (Cairo, Wadi El Natroun, El Menya)
sites of the land of the pharaohs. It’s a
journey that speaks of places, some of
which no longer exist, but will always be
a part of this country’s rich history.
11
Wadi El-Natroun
Cairo
Gabal El Tair
El Menya
Since the beginning of time, Egypt has
been the sun that shines civilisation and
faith on all human beings. It was the
land that embraced the Lord Jesus and
sheltered the Holy Family for almost
three years. The land that was blessed
with their footprints from north to
south and from east to west.
Now you can enjoy following the
footsteps of the Holy Family, witnessing
places they lived in, combining the
beauty of the biblical river with the
spiritual atmosphere of the historical
Day 1 Arrive at Cairo international
airport. You will be greeted by one of
our representatives who will be waiting
for guests by the luggage claim area
and will escort everyone to the hotel.
Day 2 Begin your tour with three
important districts in the journey
of the Holy Family. Start by visiting
Herat Zuwaila, a church complex that
according to tradition was built on a
spot where the Holy Family rested.
There are three churches, the main is
dedicated to Virgin Mary, the northern
church of St Mercurius and the upper
church, St George. Then we move onto
Old Cairo for further blessed sites of
several churches and convents. Finally,
we’ll conclude with the Maadi district
where a beautiful church was built
after St Mary. Learn about the amazing
story of the Bible found floating on the
surface of the Nile and see the Bible
exhibited in a glass closet inside the
church.
Day 4 Visit the town of Bahnasa
and the monastery of the Holy Virgin
at Gabal El Tair. It was called the
monastery of the hand (Deir El Kaf)
because it was said that when the boat
carrying the Holy Family was going
towards the monastery, a huge rock fell
from the top of the hill overlooking the
Nile. The rock was about to fall on the
boat then Jesus, the young child, lifted
his hand towards the rock and stopped
it. The Lord Jesus left the imprint of
his hand on that rock and hence the
monastery was called the monastery
of the hand. A huge celebration is held
there each year to honour Virgin Mary
and commemorate the visit.
Day 3 Today you will head south to
Wadi El Natroun where you’ll visit three
monasteries, The Monastery of Virgin
Mary, St Bishoy and St Mercurius. Each
monastery has its biblical and historical
significance which will be introduced on
the tour.
Prices from AU$1350 | NZ$1450 per person
All rates are per person in double or twin share rooms and include breakfast. Rates are in Australian/New Zealand dollars. Full terms and conditions listed on page 65 & 66.
12
Day 5 Proceed to El Menya for more
blessed sites including the monastery of
Al Muharraq. According to tradition, the
Holy Family stayed there for more than
six months in an old abandoned house
on the edge of the desert where the
first church in Egypt was consecrated.
Then visit the monastery of St Mary,
where the Holy Family proceeded next
after an angel told them Herod had
died and it was safe to return back.
Day 6 Return to Cairo and have the
rest of the day at leisure.
Day 7 Morning at leisure then transfer
to Cairo Airport for final departure.

THE VIBRANT, EXHILARATING, EXOTIC,
FASCINATING AND WELCOMING CITY OF
Cairo
25
26
Cairo is a vibrant, exhilarating, exotic,
fascinating and welcoming city.
Home to the best Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic
sights in Egypt, this city is where you never know
what incredible, half-forgotten monument you
might stumble across while wandering around. It
is the city that caters to short break and long stay
vacation seekers. You’ll get to see the Giza Pyramids,
thousands of ancient artefacts in the Egyptian
Museum of Antiquities, culture, vibrancy, modernity
and so much more.
THINGS TO DO Jazz it up at the Cairo nightclubs with
live performances and delicious drinks. The Jazz
Club is one of the best places to go for a lovely night
out in Cairo. You could also just sit back and relax in
one of the many cafes that Cairo has to offer.
Take a day trip from Cairo to some fun dunes just
80km southwest of the city. This is where you can
take part in sand boarding. The sand there is soft and
light so you can reach great speed.
Book a Felucca ride to explore the city’s riverfront. A
Felucca ride is one of the most relaxing experiences
besides the hot springs or world class spas.
THINGS TO SEE When in Cairo, it is basically
impossible to miss the Salah El Din Citadel, one of
the world’s greatest monuments to medieval warfare.
The prominent fortress houses three mosques
including the impressive Mohamed Ali Mosque, a
carriage museum, a military museum, and a garden
museum. The citadel is also home to the impressive
Gawhara Palace (the Jewel Palace).
Climb up 187 metres at the Cairo tower to see the
most amazing panoramic views of the Egyptian
capital. It is advised to go up to the tower’s circular
observation deck in the late morning or late
afternoon for the clearest views of the city.
The unique Church of St. George is the only round
church found in Egypt. Built in the 10th century on
top of a Roman tower of the fortified town Babylon,
the church is connected to the Monastery of St.
George and is the base of the Greek Patriarchate of
Alexandria.
Located on the upscale island of Zamalek, the Opera
House is a postmodern architectural
gem. It is home to two main
concert halls and an open air
theatre as well as a museum
dedicated to its history.

KNOWN AS THE ‘PEARL OF THE MEDITERRANEAN’
YOU WILL BE CAPTIVATED WITH
Alexandria
31
Known as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean,”
captivating Alexandria will fascinate you with its
mix of history and modernity.
The Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa, the underwater
ruins of Montazah and Maamoura and the city’s
vibrant arts scene make Alexandria
a great sightseeing destination. The
Alexandrian coastline extends at
least 70 km from the north-western
side of the Nile delta to Mariout Lake
in the east. The coast is dotted with
beautiful bays and harbours, such
as Abu-Qir and the crescent-shaped
Alexandrian Eastern Harbour which is
overlooked by the majestic Qaitbay Fortress.
THINGS TO DO Northwest of Alexandria, lies the site
of Abu-Qir, where archaeologists have been exploring
the sunken cities of Heracleion and Canopus and you
can now take part and be able to dive down and see
for yourself.
The “Island of Pharaohs” diving site is
home to more than 5000 scattered
archaeological pieces such as columns,
statues and sphinxes (Greek, Roman
& Pharaonic). You’ll also see parts of
the wall that once surrounded the city
and ruins from the famous ancient
Alexandrian lighthouse that was one of
the world’s ancient wonders.

Similar to a traditional souk, Souk El-Attarine is more
of a labyrinth of narrow alleys and pedestrian streets,
bursting with all types of shops dotting both sides of
the streets where merchants sell all types of souvenirs
and traditional Egyptian artefacts such as shishas,
colourful blown glass products, gallabiyas, bellydancing costumes, spices, and antiques.
THINGS TO SEE The Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa
entombed over 300 mummies. Check out the hovering
solar disc above the archway and customary funerary
deities joined with Graeco-Roman motifs.
With the Anfushi tomb you will watch how Ptolemaic
tombs were used in the Roman period as well as you
will enjoy Pharaonic scenes painted on the walls of
the tombs. There are many statues of Sphinxes on the
right and left sides of the burial chamber because a
Sphinx was believed to be the guardian of the tombs.

AMAZING CORALS REEFS, SUNSHINE AND
WARM WATERS ALL YEAR ROUND
Sharm El Sheikh
33
GOOD
TO KNOW
Handshakes are the
customary greeting
among individuals of
the same sex.
With sunshine and warm waters
all year round, you can soak up
sun, dive amazing coral reefs, and
enjoy the sea any time you need a
break from routine at Sharm El Sheikh.
It boasts the widest array of fun, exciting and even
crazy water and extreme sports. Besides diving,
snorkelling, sailing, wind and kite-surfing, you can sky
dive or parachute from a helicopter on your next holiday
in Sharm El Sheikh. Moreover, you can easily book trips
and safaris into the nearby Sinai desert and discover the
amazing dunes or the majestic Sinai Mountains.
The city is known to be home to Egypt’s most famous
and professional Spas in Egypt if you’re looking for a
relaxed wellness and pampering holiday. Add to that
endless nights spent at local bars, nightclubs and
beaches dancing the night away or the magic of a safari
into the mountainous Sinai desert landscape and you’ll
know why Sharm is ranked among the best vacation
destinations in the world.
Sharm El Sheikh has it all to make your holiday an
unforgettable experience.
THINGS TO DO As its name indicates,
the Turtle Bay is the site to dive in
Sharm El Sheikh to observe turtles in their
natural habitat. Since they can even be seen
in the shallow areas and it’s a shore dive, the site is
equally good for snorkelling.
Gordon Reef is the most southern of the four reefs
located between the Sinai Peninsula and Tiran Island.
34
It is an incredibly rich site housing amazing coral
formations, unexpected marine life and a shipwreck.
The marine species you’re most likely to encounter are
octopi, wrasses and reef sharks, not mentioning the
various colourful reef fish.
The SS Thistlegorm shipwreck was discovered in the
early fifties by the French diver Jacques Cousteau,
about 10 years after the British ship was sunk in 1941 by
a German air force bombing. Following the instructions
of the local fishermen, Cousteau succeeded in locating
the wreck and raised several items from it including
a motorcycle, the Captain’s safe and the ship’s bell.
Diving around the SS Thistlegorm today is like traveling
through time. It is for many an emotional experience.
The site is after all a bombing site and a war grave.
For an inspiring experience, 4WD to one of the Bedouin
villages in the middle of the desert and get a glimpse of
their timeless lifestyle. As a guest, you’ll be honoured by
the very welcoming tribes who will surely serve you an
herbal tea and invite you to share a shisha.
For restaurants, bars and nightclubs after 11pm, Little
Buddha is one of the best night time hotspots. It is the
sister venue of the Buddha Bar in Paris.
THINGS TO SEE On the western side of Sinai is one of
the rare traces left by the Ancient Egyptians in the
peninsula. The Serabit el Khadem Temple of Hathor is
located in the rocky mountainous landscape among
an ancient turquoise mine settlement which provided
the pharaohs with beautiful stones used to make
ornaments, jewellery and blue paint. You can see the
huts of the miners and the engravings they left on the
walls, including images of the ships that transported
the stones to the Nile
Valley.

ABOVE AND BELOW THE WATER, THERE IS
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AT
Hurghada
36
GOOD
TO KNOW
It is considered a sincere
compliment to take
second helpings
Spanning over 40 km of pristine
coastline, Hurghada City has yearround sunshine, incredibly beautiful
coral reefs and dozens of exciting
attractions in a laid back, placid environment.
Although it’s known as one of the top three diving
destination on the planet, it still has something for
everyone, even the non-divers. Enjoy some beach fun,
extreme water sports, clubbing and golfing.
You can also enjoy an amazingly relaxing holiday by
booking a treatment or two at one of Hurghada’s
best Spas. Hurghada is a luxury resort town
surrounded by extravagant locations like Soma Bay,
Makadi Bay, and Sahl el Hashish. Considered the
capital of the Red Sea Riviera, Hurghada is south of
Suez and 550 km from Cairo.
THINGS TO DO Enjoy the sun and sea in
resorts tailored to meet all your needs. Wake
up to the sight of crystal clear waters and partake
in a range of activities such as paragliding, deep
diving, snorkelling, yachting and fishing.
The Careless Reef is justifiably one of the more
popular dive sites in Hurghada with its many coral
forests and a dense population of fish including
the occasional hammerhead shark, jacks, tuna and
barracuda. The reef is also famous for the large
population of giant and other morays flourishing in
its premises.
Who said that wreck diving is only for the brave and
valiant? The “Excalibur” proves this theory wrong by
all means. Lying a few metres from shore and inside
Hurghada’s harbour, the wreckage of the Excalibur,
also referred to as the Suzanna, is an easy dive for all
levels of divers.
40
After a long day in the sun and a short afternoon
siesta, comes the best time to go shopping in
Hurghada. Gift shops are in abundance around
town where you’ll find jewellery, perfumes, painted
papyrus, spices, cotton, shishas, postcards, alabaster
statues and more.
The only Hed Kandi Beach venue in the world cannot
be missed! Head down to the coast to party it up
at HKV001, where renowned DJs and professional
dancers will spin you and thousands of others into a
frenzy that will last till morning.
THINGS TO SEE The monasteries of St. Anthony and
St. Paul are the oldest Christian monasteries in the
area. They both date back to the 4th century when
monks began to settle at the foot of the Red Sea
Mountain of Galala Al-Qibliya in hidden cliffs and
caves. Both monasteries are considered the holiest
sites of the Coptic Church in Egypt.
Explore St. John’s Island. Go bird watching for a
chance to spot the Sooty Falcon soar or go diving for
a view of the corals and a chance to get up close and
personal with rays, morays, octopi or cuttlefish.

DIVE INTO THE RED SEA AND BE AMAZED
Marsa Alam
47
Since the opening of its international airport in
2001, Marsa Alam has become a great Red Sea
destination for diving enthusiasts.
Nestled between sea and desert, the town offers all
kinds of accommodation, ranging from upscale comfort
establishments with complete Western amenities to
Bedouin-inspired eco-lodges. In addition to being one of
the premier diving sites, Marsa Alam’s newly built marina
offers some of the best relaxation and entertainment
options on the Red Sea coast including gourmet
restaurants and tantalizing Spas.
THINGS TO DO Shaab Sataya, also known as the
Dolphin Reef is located at the south eastern tip of
the Fury Shoal diving area off Marsa Alam. This
horseshoe shaped reef has been aptly named after
the friendly mammals that can be spotted regularly
on site. Additionally, you’ll be amazed by whitetips,
fusiliers, Spanish dancers and parrotfish at different
depths from 4 to 40 metres.
About 140 kilometres south of Marsa Alam, beginners
will find the best spot to learn kitesurfing at the
legendary lagoon of Wadi Lahami. With a maximum
depth of 70cm, the lagoon offers ideal conditions
to wade out a considerable distance. An outer coral
reef separates the lagoon from the open sea where
experts and speed-junkies can enjoy strong thermal
winds and a far more exciting kitesurfing experience.
Not to be missed in Marsa Alam are 4WD safaris,
horseback riding, camel riding and quad biking into
the surrounding mountainous desert to explore the
long-abandoned goldmines, oases and breathtaking
desert landscapes.
THINGS TO SEE The Elba Protected Area is a
matchless national park in Egypt. Nestled between
the tropical and desert regions, the area enjoys a
unique climate in Egypt. The protectorate is home to
Gebel Elba, a mountain that enjoys precipitation up to
400mm of mist annually, a phenomenon that creates
stunning mist oases. The plants found in Elba are the
richest in Egypt but there is only one endemic flora
called Biscutella Elbensis. The park is also home for
the rare Ombet Tree. In terms of wildlife, you’ll find
sub-Saharan species such as zorils, aardwolves and
Barbary sheep.
Wadi El Gemal or Camels Valley Protected Area
covers 60 kilometres of the Red Sea coast and
includes the Wadi Gemal Islands, coral reefs, seagrass
beds and mangroves. You can hike, dive and enjoy
bird watching in Wadi El Gemal.

FROM THE TOMB OF TUT ANKH AMUN TO
TEMPLE COMPLEXES OF KARNAK, VIST THE
WORLD’S GREATEST OPEN-AIR MUSEUM
51
Luxor
Luxor, once an Ancient Egyptian capital, is known
today as the “world’s greatest open-air museum.”
From the tomb of Tut Ankh Amun in the Valley of
the Kings and the magnificent sunset views at the
majestic temple complexes of Karnak and Luxor to
the exciting and fun Nile cruises.
Luxor is divided by the Nile into two areas commonly
called the East Bank and West Bank which were
considered in Ancient Egyptian times symbolic
respectively of Life and Death.
While the East Bank has grown to become a
modern city, it has retained its lush green setting,
its traditional bazaar and stunning view of the
Nile. The East Bank boasts some of Egypt’s most
refined hotels, home to amazing Spas and a golf
course. The West Bank is known for its necropolis
and mortuary temples rich with history and
monumental wonders.
Simply put, Luxor is the perfect choice for culture
vultures.
THINGS TO DO A Hot Air Balloon ride in the
early morning is one of the most breathtaking
ways to see Luxor. The sunrise view you’ll catch
while floating in the clouds as the sun hits the
magnificent temples and lights up the greenery of
the Nile banks is a sight you will never forget.
The sound and light show at the Karnak Temple
complex narrates the achievements of great
Pharaohs while describing the ancient treasures
of ancient Thebes. As visitors walk through the
complex, the Pharaohs awaken to tell the story of
their interesting lives while moving soundtracks fill
the air.
Visit the Temple of Dendera by boat, and enjoy
both the sights of the lush Nile Valley and the
ancient temple or drive around the West bank of
Luxor on a quad bike past the temples and tombs
at your own pace enjoying the world’s greatest
open air museum.
Enjoy some shopping at nearby villages and the
Fair Trade Centre in Luxor where you can purchase
products like hand-carved wood, traditional
pottery crafts, aromatic oils from Quz, bead work
from Sinai and hand-blown glass.
THINGS TO SEE The mortuary temple of
Ramesses II took around 20 years to build
as a part of his funerary complex. The
magnificent temple is on Luxor’s West
Bank and in its day the Ramesseum was
similar to Abu Simbel in grandeur and

Medinet Habu in architecture. Ironically the Nile
floods deteriorated the temple in which Ramesses
is portrayed as an eternal deity. Make sure to
notice the images of the Battle of Qadesh in
which the pharaoh is shown firing his arrows at
the retreating enemy. The colossal statues of
Ramesses which once stood tall at the entrance
are now in ruins but you can still see parts
scattered around the temple.
wives of Pharaohs were buried in ancient times as
well as princes, princesses and various members of
the nobility. Nefertari’s tomb, Ramesses II’s favourite
wife, is the most famous attraction. The tomb is
said to be one of the most beautiful in Egypt. It is
completely painted with scenes depicting Nefertari
being guided by gods.
There are two gigantic figures of Amenhotep III

NOWHERE IS THE NILE MORE MAJESTIC,
FLOWING AROUND GRANITE ROCKS AND
EMERALD ISLANDS COVERED IN PALM GROVES
Aswan
55
Aswan is a serene Nile Valley destination where
the Nile is more majestic than anywhere else
flowing through granite rocks and around
emerald islands covered in palm groves and
tropical plants. It is considered an all-time
favourite winter destination.
You’ll be surprised to see how many monuments
and sites this small city has to offer. Egypt’s sunniest
southern city is the perfect destination to stroll and
relax in a magical cultural setting. Wander down the
corniche and watch feluccas slowly sailing the Nile
then stop at one of the floating restaurants and enjoy
freshly caught fish complimented by beautiful Nubian
music.
THINGS TO DO The Aswan Souk is a colourful bazaar
that offers Egyptian and African goods. Traders sell
a wide variety of goods such as perfumes, peanuts,
henna powder, dried hibiscus flowers, spices, T-shirts
and custom made Ancient Egyptian styled souvenirs.
In side alleys, you’ll find traders selling Nubian
artefacts such as skullcaps, talismans and baskets,
spices and carpets.
Check out the Temple of Philae Sound and Light
Show by sailing at night aside the magnificent temple
complex set on an island. The Philae Temple comes
to life as a voice over narrates the myths of Isis and
Osiris as you tour the temple making it a theatrical
experience.
Sailing the Nile River on a felucca provides you with
great bird watching opportunities. You’ll be able to
spot the Green Heron and migratory water birds
such as the Egyptian Goose, Egyptian Vultures and
possibly see Black Kites as they circle above the
West Bank of the Nile.
THINGS TO SEE Dedicated to Sobek and
Horus the Elder, the Temple of Kom Ombo
has two identical entrances, hypostyle halls
and sanctuaries. The symmetry of the
temple layout is a tribute to the mythical
link the two gods shared. Built on an
outcrop in one of the Nile’s meanders
where crocodiles used to gather in
ancient times, the temple design
and location is a testament to the
importance Ancient Egyptian
priests. Visit the temple to see
mummified crocodiles, clay
coffins and spectacular artwork.
The illuminated view of the

7. TRAVEL ADVICE
This brochure is valid for the dates shown.
While JC Holidays has exercised reasonable
care to ensure that the contents of the
brochure are correct, accurate and up-todate at the time of printing, please note
the content of the brochure are based
on information supplied by third-party
suppliers and we do not have personal
knowledge about all the facilities or
services provided by each supplier; facilities
or services may change after the date of
printing. Prior to making a booking, you
should ask your travel consultant about any
changes to the published information.
All prices are quoted in Australian and
New Zealand dollars, inclusive of taxes
and charges that apply as at the date
of brochure publication but they do not
include any fees for optional items which
are payable directly to third parties. Please
note that prices quoted in the brochure
are subject to change. This may occur due
to the increase in the cost of the product
or service. Such factors include (without
limitation) adverse currency fluctuations,
fuel surcharges, taxes and airfare increases.
Child prices are based on two adults and
one child sharing existing bedding, unless
otherwise specified. Charges may apply for
roll-away beds, cots or additional bedding.
Please contact your travel consultant for upto-date prices.
JC Holidays makes no representations as to
the safety, conditions or other issues that
may exist at any destination. We recommend
that you contact the Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade or visit their website at
www.smartraveller.gov.au for general travel
advice, as well as specific advice (including
safety alert levels) relating to the destination
you wish to visit. You can also register your
travel plans with DFAT, so that you may be
more easily contacted in an emergency.
2. HOLIDAY CONTRACT
When you make a booking you guarantee
that you have the authority to accept and
do accept on behalf of your party the terms
of these booking conditions. A contract will
exist as soon as we issue our confirmation
invoice. This contract is made on the
terms of these booking conditions, which
are governed by Australian Law, and the
jurisdiction of the Australian Courts.
3. LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by law, we do
not accept any liability in contract, tort
or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss
(including consequential loss), delay,
additional expense or inconvenience caused
directly or indirectly by the acts, omissions
or default, whether negligent or otherwise,
of third party providers over whom we have
no direct control, force majeure or any other
event which is beyond our control or which
is not preventable by reasonable diligence
on our part. Our liability will also be limited
to the extent that any relevant international
conventions, for example the Montreal
Convention in respect of travel by air, the
Athens Convention in respect of travel by
sea, the Berne Convention in respect of
travel by rail and the Paris Convention in
respect of the provision of accommodation,
limit the amount of compensation which
can be claimed for death, injury, or delay
to passengers and loss, damage and delay
to luggage. Under circumstances where
our liability cannot be excluded and where
liability may be lawfully limited, such
liability is limited to the remedies required
of us under applicable law (including the
Australian Consumer Law). This liability
clause is subject to your rights under the
Australian Consumer Law and nothing in
these terms and conditions is intended to
limit any rights you may have under the
Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
8. PASSPORT, VISA AND IMMIGRATION
REQUIREMENTS
All pricing is clearly identified by a currency
prefix. Where exchange rate fluctuations
occur or any other increases in the price
of services provided which are beyond the
control of JC Holidays, then JC Holidays
reserves the right to adjust package prices
accordingly, up to and including the day
of departure of your itinerary, even though
the balance of payment may have been
made. Acceptance of this arrangement is a
condition of booking.
All travellers must hold a valid passport
for international travel and many countries
require at least 6 months validity from
the date of return and some countries
require a machine-readable passport. It is
important that you ensure that you have
valid passports, visas and re-entry permits
which meet the requirements of immigration
and other government authorities. Any fines,
penalties, payments or expenditures incurred
as a result of such documents not meeting
the requirements of those authorities will be
your sole responsibility. We do not accept
any responsibility if you cannot travel
because you have not complied with any
passport, visa or immigration requirements.
5. TRAVEL INSURANCE
9. HEALTH
Travel insurance is strongly recommended
by the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade for all overseas travel. Travel Insurance
is not included in any of the prices quoted
in this brochure. You are strongly advised
to arrange this cover to protect you for the
duration of your holiday. We suggest that
you take out the policy at time of booking
and that the policy should include, but not
be limited to the following features: loss of
deposit and/or final payment; injury, death,
theft, loss of luggage and personal items,
curtailment of tours en-route, medical
expenses, cancellation of advance purchase
airfares, additional expenses to cover hotel
accommodation and repatriation costs
should your holiday need to be extended or
curtailed due to illness while overseas.
You must ensure that you are aware of any
health requirements and recommended
precautions relevant to your travel and
ensure that you carry all necessary
vaccination documentation. In some cases,
failure to present required vaccination
documentation (e.g. proof of Yellow Fever
vaccination) may deny you entry into a
country. We recommend that you consult
with your local doctor, travel medical
service or specialist vaccination clinic before
commencing your travel. General health
advice for the destination you wish to visit is
also available from DFAT (see smarttraveller.
gov.au).
6. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Travel documents include (without
limitation) airline tickets, hotel vouchers,
tour vouchers or any other document
(whether in electronic form or otherwise)
used to confirm an arrangement with a
service provider. Travel documents may
be subject to certain conditions and/or
restrictions including (without limitation)
being non-refundable, non-date-changeable
and subject to cancellation and/or
amendment fees. All travel documents are
non-transferable. All airline tickets must be
issued in the name of the passport/photo
identity holder; some carriers will deny
carriage if the name varies and the booking
may be cancelled. Please review your travel
documentation carefully and advise us
immediately of any errors in names, dates or
timings. It is your responsibility to collect all
travel documents prior to travel.
10. MAPS & PHOTOGRAPHS
Maps are shown for general information
and are an indication only, they may not
necessarily reflect actual routings, hotel and
attraction locations or services provided.
Photographs show places in the geographic
areas, but are not necessarily included in
the holiday. Hotel room photographs are
representative only, and the actual rooms
occupied may vary in decor and inclusions
from those shown. Many images are supplied
courtesy of tourist bureaus, hotels and tour
operators.
11. BAGGAGE
16. DEPOSITS & FINAL PAYMENTS
18. AMENDMENTS
Carriers publish baggage allowances
applicable for carriage over their own
services. Allowances include cabin baggage
and checked baggage. These allowances
tend to be based on a weight allowance
or a piece system. We recommend you
check your baggage allowance carefully,
as you may incur a charge for the carriage
of baggage in excess of their free baggage
allowance. Carriers also publish baggage
safety notices, which detail items that
cannot be carried or can only be carried in
checked baggage. Again, we recommend
you ask your chosen carrier about the
applicable baggage safety requirements.
A deposit of $150 (AUD or NZD depending
on the destination) per person is payable
within seven days of confirmation of your
reservation. You will be notified at the
time of your reservation if any additional
deposit requirements apply. All deposits
are non-refundable for changes of mind
or cancellations by you (subject to your
rights under the Australian Consumer Law).
Full payment for your holiday package is
required at least 30 days prior to departure,
or by the sale end date or payment deadline
specified in individual package conditions,
whichever is earliest. If you do not pay JC
Holidays the deposit or your balance by
the due date, we reserve the right to treat
your booking as cancelled and to apply
the appropriate cancellation charges. A
deposit holds services requested but does
not guarantee prices. Bookings made within
30 days of departure will only be accepted
if full payment is received by JC Holidays
at the time of reservation. The price of your
holiday may change at any time until the
full payment is received and airline tickets
are issued. Tickets will be issued within one
business day of receiving full payment. If we
have to change any part of your booking
for reasons beyond our control, for example
if an airline changes its schedules, if a
hotelier overbooks hotel accommodation
or if there are any changes in applicable
taxes or charges, we will notify you. If any
such changes result in your holiday costing
more or otherwise being materially different
from that originally booked, then you may
cancel the holiday and we will refund any
monies already paid less any charges levied
by suppliers. Extra tax fees are subject to
government regulations in each destination.
An amendment is a change to an existing
booking with the same inclusions. Any
supplier or airline amendment fees will be
charged. A transfer to another package
may be treated as a cancellation and
operator cancellation fees may apply. If
the new package is of greater value and
no operator fees apply, there will be no
amendment/reissue fee.
12. FLIGHT DETAILS
Any amendments that JC Holidays may
make to the flight details, such as change
in carrier, departure time and airport of
departure would be considered as a minor
change and would not be subject to any
compensation or allow you to cancel
reservations. The exception to this would
be if the timings changed by more than 12
hours.
13. CONNECTING FLIGHTS
Where domestic or international internal
flights are booked, either by JC Holidays or
by the client directly with the airline, we are
unable to accept liability for any change in
flight time by the carrier that would affect
your onward or return travel arrangements.
Where we have made reservations for
domestic or internal scheduled flights
payment must be made at the time of
booking and is nonrefundable. This would be
in addition to our standard deposit.
14. PRE-DEPARTURE CONTACT
Please ensure your travel consultant advises
JC Holidays of a telephone number or
address where you can be reached within 24
hours prior to your departure from Australia.
15. COMPLAINT
If you have a problem during your holiday,
please inform the relevant supplier (e.g. your
hotelier) and our representative immediately
who will endeavour to put things right.
If your complaint is not resolved locally,
please follow this up within 28 days of your
return home by writing to our Customer
Services Department at the address on your
confirmation invoice, giving your booking
reference and all other relevant information.
Please keep your letter concise and to the
point. It is strongly recommended that
you communicate any complaints to the
supplier of the services as well as to our
representative without delay and complete
a report form whilst in resort. If you fail
to follow this simple procedure we will
have been deprived of the opportunity to
investigate and rectify your complaint whilst
you were in resort and this may affect your
rights under this contract.
17. CANCELLATION FEES
Cancelled bookings may also incur supplier
fees, which can be up to 100% of the cost
of the booking, regardless of whether travel
has commenced. Supplier fees may also
apply where a booking is changed and when
tickets or documents are re-issued. Where
JC Holidays incur any liability for a supplier
cancellation fee for any booking which you
change or cancel, you agree to indemnify us
for the amount of that fee. Where you seek
a refund for a cancelled booking for which
payment has been made to the supplier, JC
Holidays will not provide a refund to you
until we receive the funds from that supplier.
Subject to your refund and remedy rights
under the Australian Consumer Law, the
following fees apply if we change or cancel a
booking at your request. After full payment,
the cancellation fee on packages will be $150
(AUD or NZD depending on the destination)
per person plus any supplier fees on the
land portion of your booking and any airline
cancellation fees on the air portion.
19. REFUNDS
Subject to your refund and remedy rights
under the Australian Consumer Law, no
refund is available for cancellations after
the holiday package has commenced or
in respect of any tours, accommodation,
meals or any other services not utilised.
Requests for refunds received more than
six months after the departure date for
travel will not be accepted.
20. CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS
The prices shown are for payment by
cash. Credit card surcharges of 1.5%
for Visa, MasterCard or Bank card for
American Express & Diner’s Club 3.0% will
apply when paying by credit card.
