The CNASA Scholarship Program provides Chickasaw students across the country with an
opportunity to participate in the Chickasaw Nation Aviation & Space Academy.
Interested students must submit a scholarship application and a CNASA application, which
contains competitive criteria applicants must meet. A committee will evaluate and rank
completed applications to determine scholarship recipients. CNASA scholarships will cover the
cost of round-trip airfare or mileage, lodging and meals. Scholarships are limited.
Deadline for application is April 15.

This weeklong premier educational program for Chickasaw students, ages 9 to 18, is located
at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center at NASA’s Marshall Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
A limited number of students are selected each year. Interested students must submit an

The YOUTH CLOTHING GRANT provides students with a $200 non-reloadable Visa gift
card each school year. Students must apply each school year. The grant must be used for
school clothing purchases only. The required form is available at the above address or at

The COLLEGE CLOTHING GRANT provides a non-reloadable $150 Visa gift card for
part-time students or $300 for full-time students, per classification. The grant must be

The Chickasaw Nation Headquarters Gym is a state-of-the-art basketball facility available for
rent to Chickasaw citizens for tournaments and practices. The gym is built to accommodate a
variety of ages, with goals that adjust from 8 to 10 feet. Open gym times will be available for
shoot arounds and pick-up games. Additional amenities include a digital scoreboard, PA system,

The Chickasaw Nation Softball Complex is a state-of-the-art softball facility available for rent to
Chickasaw citizens for tournament and exhibition games.
The complex features two adult fields and one youth field. Each field is built to accommodate
a variety of softball events, from t-ball and coach-pitch, to slow-pitch and fast-pitch games.
Additional amenities include a digital scoreboard, concession stand, PA booth, playground and
basketball court.

The Council House Museum houses the original 1855 log cabin council house that was in use
at the time the 1856 constitution was signed. The Council House Museum has three galleries
telling about Chickasaw history, culture and Chickasaw people.

The dance troupe serves as ambassadors for the Chickasaw Nation and works to preserve

This annual creative writing contest is for Chickasaw citizens in grades six to 12 and young
adults through age 24. Works are judged in three age divisions in categories of poetry, short
story and essay. Topics vary each year, and youth may enter up to three works. First, second and
third place winners will receive a cash award.

The Chickasaw Capitol was built in 1898 and was the seat of Chickasaw government until
Oklahoma statehood in 1907. The capitol contains exhibits about Chickasaw government from
1850 through 1907.

CHICKASAW PRESS HERITAGE PRESERVATION AWARDS recognize authors documenting
Chickasaw history and culture through non-fiction and scholarly work. Awards are issued
annually for best unpublished manuscript, article, master's thesis and Ph.D. dissertation.
WHITE DOG PRESS OFI' TOHBI' AWARDS celebrate authors exploring Chickasaw themes
through fiction, poetry or other creative genres. Award categories include unpublished poetry,
short stories, children's books and full-length fiction manuscripts.

Historic Preservation manages the Chickasaw Preserve, Chisá Talláá, in Lee County, Mississippi.
The Chickasaw Nation manages part of the historic 1730s Chickasaw village where Chickasaw
ancestors once lived. Managed under the concept of conservation archaeology, the land, cultural
resources and plants receive special protections.

CHICKASAW THEATRE COMPANY is a group of trained and amateur actors, directors,
playwrights, costumers, set designers and other volunteers who perform in theatrical
presentations, radio, television and film.
CHICKASAW YOUTH STORYTELLING WORKSHOP takes place in November with a story
concert the Saturday before Thanksgiving for ages 8-13. The workshop is nine days long.
Students learn the traditions of Chickasaw storytelling, as well as other story genres from other
cultures. Seating is limited.
DANCE CLASSES in tap and ballet concentrate on technique, musicality, improvisation, rhythm
and performance. Classes also available include adult tap, ballet, country line and ballroom. No
partner needed.
LIVING HISTORY PLAYERS is an acting troupe that performs original plays and vignettes
based on Chickasaw history, events and family stories for audiences of all ages.

The Chickasaw Nation Career Technology Program is available to part-time and full-time
Chickasaw students attending a state or nationally accredited career technology center, online
education institute, trade school or private training facility, whereby graduates receive a
professional certification or license upon completion of their program.
CAREER TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM (CTP) GRANT shall be based on the student’s program’s
tuition and fee costs, with $6,000 being the maximum award amount per certification. An
invoice or billing statement must be submitted to process any award amount. The student’s
federal and/or state financial aid award will be taken into consideration when processing the
CTP Grant award amount. All students must submit a high school transcript, high school
equivalency or college transcript. Eligibility is not dependent on completion or grade point
average. Application must be made before the student’s course completion date to be eligible.
EXAM AND LICENSURE ASSISTANCE GRANT provides assistance for required textbooks and
supplies as determined by the student’s program. The textbook and supplies assistance grant is
available once per certification. Part-time and high school students may qualify for $250. Fulltime students may qualify for $500.
CERTIFICATION COMPLETION INCENTIVE is limited to one completion incentive
per certification. Students must provide a final transcript, diploma or licensure showing
certification has been awarded within six months after the course completion date. Certification
completion incentive awards are based strictly on training clock hours and will be awarded as
follows: 99 hours or less is $50; 100–250 hours is $100; 251–500 hours is $200; 501–750 hours
is $300; and 751 hours or more is $400.

CHICKASAW HUMANITIES STUDIES COURSES are offered at East Central University in Ada,
Oklahoma, Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, and University of Oklahoma in
Norman, with college credit awarded upon successful completion of each course.
In the Clemente I course, students explore the rich and diverse culture, history, government,
language and experience of the Chickasaws in comparison to Western culture.
Clemente II is similar in focus, but compares and contrasts Chickasaw history and culture with
various North American tribes.

TRADITIONAL STORYTELLING shares our stories with audiences at schools, civic
organizations, clubs and universities. Stories are shared through story concerts, such as Spooky
Tales in October and Love Stories in February, as well as storytelling workshops. Storytelling can
be integrated into the standard Oklahoma academic curriculum.
CHICKASAW YOUTH CULTURAL WORKSHOP will take elements of the Clemente Chickasaw
Humanities university courses and tailor them to youth courses. Young attendees will learn
several aspects of the Chickasaw people and tribe, including history and present-day events. The

The IMATAHLI PROGRAM assists and monitors Chickasaw students in grades six through

skills learning and college preparedness workshops for students and families are also provided.
The RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PROGRAM, in an effort to support students in
maintaining eligibility for funding and complete their degrees, assists in retention through
preventions and early intervention activities, connects students to their Chickasaw culture
and helps them develop support systems, social bonding, mentoring and service-learning

ADULT ART CLASSES provide an introduction to various mediums and subject matter.
Enrollment is open to community members, with classes in Ada at the arts and humanities
building, and in Sulphur at the ARTesian Gallery & Studios.
The CHICKASAW CHOIR program provides opportunities for children, youth and adults to sing
in a community setting and to develop musical skills, stage presence and movement, thereby
encouraging confidence and improved self-esteem. Open to students age 8 and older.
The CHICKASAW YOUNG ARTISTS STUDIO (CYAS) assists students, grades seven through 12,
with art portfolios, contest preparation, one-on-one studio time with an instructor and provides
general mentoring of Chickasaw young artists throughout the year.
A SATURDAY ARTS PROGRAM provides formal training in Chickasaw and other Southeastern
tribal fine arts. Applications are accepted beginning in December each school year, for grades
three through eight.
TEACHER IN-SERVICE TRAINING AND NATIVE AMERICAN/CULTURAL CLASSROOM
INSTRUCTION may be scheduled by public school arts programs and administration
during the regular school term. A memorandum of understanding is established with each

various grants and scholarships to assist with the cost of tuition, books and fees.

A GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP is available to Chickasaw students who take three or more credit
hours each term and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Awards are based on enrollment and classification, and an incentive is available based on GPA.
The GOVERNOR’S, LT. GOVERNOR’S & LEGISLATOR’S SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded onetime only for graduating high school seniors who have achieved a high level of academic success.
In order to be eligible for these scholarships, a student must have earned a 3.85 GPA or higher,

An INTER-TRIBAL COUNCIL OF THE FIVE CIVILIZED TRIBES JOHNSON-O’MALLEY
SCHOLARSHIP is awarded each year to one male and one female graduating high school senior.
In order to be eligible for this one-time only scholarship, students must be attending a school
with a JOM program within the Chickasaw Nation boundaries. Applicants must submit one
letter of recommendation and a 500‑word essay. Deadline is February 1.
The LICENSE & CERTIFICATION FEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM assists college students with
license and certification fees associated with their degree programs.
A TEXTBOOK GRANT may be awarded to undergraduate, graduate or doctoral students
enrolled in at least three college credit hours, who maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher each term.
Students enrolled in three to 11 hours may be awarded $150 per term, and students enrolled in
12+ hours may be awarded $300 per term.

Rewarding continuing education and academic success, this program is available for college
students beginning their sophomore year through professional school.

A CLASSIFICATION CHANGE INCENTIVE is available to Chickasaw students beginning
their sophomore year in college. As a student progresses through college and completes a
classification with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, he or she is eligible to receive $500

A COLLEGE GRADUATION FEE REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM is available to graduating
college students. Qualifying students may be reimbursed up to $150 for caps, gowns, invitations
and other graduation-related expenses.
A DEGREE COMPLETION INCENTIVE is available to Chickasaw students upon completion
of a bachelor’s degree or higher. Eligible students receive $1,000 as a reward for reaching their
higher education goals.
GRADUATION STOLES are given to students who earn an associates degree or higher at an
accredited college or university. Eligibility is limited to one award per student, per degree.
A LAPTOP SCHOLARSHIP is available to Chickasaw college students one time during their
college careers if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, are enrolled in at least 12 college

itinerary includes tours of all the major war monuments, Smithsonian Museum tours, a visit

Information Center (CHIC) is a free online health information computer center that helps

The Chikasha House provides families or caregivers of patients admitted to CNMC a convenient
and relaxing “home away from home” lodging facility. There are two guest houses, each one
containing four guest rooms. One guest room in each house is also handicapped accessible. All
rooms contain two full-sized beds, a TV, refrigerator and private bathroom. In addition, both
houses include a common kitchen and living area. Also available on site are a game room and
outdoor playground, two serenity gardens, laundry facilities, a safe room and a state-of-the-art
security and surveillance system.

Customer relations provides general information and a place for compliments and patient
concerns. Additional services include chaplain services to assist patients and families with their
spiritual needs during their visit or hospitalization and hospitality services.
The CHICKASAW NATION MEDICAL CENTER GIFT SHOP, located on the first floor of the
Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, offers a variety of Native American jewelry, wood crafts,
books published by the Chickasaw Press, snacks, soft drinks and an assortment of sundry items.

Get Fresh! is an innovative nutrition education program that provides interactive cooking
classes and demonstrations, nutrition education and ideas for ways to add physical activity into
daily routines. Incentives are given to food distribution/SNAP eligible families.
Class topics include healthy menu planning, low-cost meals, how to incorporate more veggies
into your cooking and much more. The Get Fresh! Program demonstrations are offered monthly
at the nutrition service centers in Ada, Ardmore and Purcell, or may be scheduled by request.
Get Fresh! also has two nutrition education programs, the Body Adventure and Eagle Adventure,
which are presented in schools by request.

The health spending account (HSA) gives Chickasaw citizens control of when and where health
care services are obtained. Citizens 65 and older, or permanently disabled and on Medicare, are
eligible to receive reimbursement for up to $200 of approved health care expenses per month.
Required enrollment application is available at the above address. Chickasaw citizens can apply
up to three months prior to turning 65 years old.
HSA is only available to citizens who do not have an active chart with the Chickasaw Nation Department of
Health. Citizens with an active chart are not eligible to participate in the HSA program.

Following an exam and evaluation, hearing aid(s) may be provided every three years to eligible
individuals. Most repairs are covered by warranty and additional hearing aids may be purchased

Nation Summer Food Service Program partners with national and community organizations
to provide nutritious meals to all children, regardless of racial heritage, between the ages of 1
