Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides
Saturday, February 6
1 pm - 4 pm
Ennismore Community Centre
Sleigh Rides in Canada originated as a form of
transportation in farming communities throughout the country.
Dog Sledding in Canada had been around for centuries before
Europeans arrived and set up communities. Horse-drawn plows tilled
the soil during the growing season. During the winter; however,
transportation became difficult and sleighs were fabricated.
Experience a little of Canada’s history and enjoy a Sleigh Ride at the
Ennismore Community Centre. The rides will take place on Saturday,
February 6 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Marc Campbell of Ennismore will
have his team of horses on site and invites everyone to take a jaunt
around the community centre property.
Enjoy a cup of complimentary hot chocolate.
Sleigh Rides are sponsored by the Ennismore Optimist Club

Join the Lakefield Trail Stewardship Committee for the Nature in Winter
Guided Night Hike on the Lakefield Trail. Hikers will set out from the Marshland Centre at the Lakefield Beach, located at 64 Hague Blvd.
Why do owls have feathered disks around their eyes? Who are the
true winter hibernators and who is only half-asleep?
Sheila Potter will lead the Lakefield Trail hike around the marsh and explore
the nocturnal adaptations of owls and other local wildlife. Through games
and stories, hikers will learn about the behaviours and conversations of
the creatures that prowl, trot, or fly through the darkness while we sleep.
Sheila Potter is a biologist and classroom teacher who also instructs at the
Kawartha Outdoor Education Centre.
The hike will return to the beach where you will be welcomed by a toasty
