SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SUMMER SCHOOL In Cooperation with The Logistics Institute (TLI) - Asia Pacific / National University of Singapore 3rd - 15th July 2016 9:00 am - 6:00 pm School of Management FH OÖ Campus Steyr www-en.fh-ooe.at/campus-steyr www.logistikum.at SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SUMMER SCHOOL Welcome! The Supply Chain Management Summer School offers an ideal opportunity for a selected group of highly-motivated and talented students from the National University of Singapore and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria to experience challenging real business cases and workshops in the field of Supply Chain Management. This intensive, two-week programme was designed in cooperation with The Logistics Institute (TLI) - Asia Pacific and combines sophisticated theory with hands-on practical experience in industry. The School of Management Steyr started with its first degree programme in 1995 and is one of the pioneers of the University of Applied Sciences sector. Excellent education, ideal preparation for professional life and internationality which is lived through connections to more than 100 partner universities worldwide make studying and working here special. In each academic year there are about 1250 students on campus. Currently, nearly 3600 Steyr graduates are working in various industry sectors. The Supply Chain Management degree programme has achieved top-position in Austrian rankings for more than 5 years in a row. Over 50 professors and research associates are scientifically active in our research areas. The LOGISTIKUM as the joint research- and education institute in the field of logistics provides content with high practical relevance, excellent job perspectives, innovative solutions for companies, and state-ofthe-art expertise in research. In our society and economy international cooperation of partners throughout the value chain is of fundamental importance. Supply Chain Management forms the backbone of our entire connected economy. Steyr’s productiveness has always been based on trade and the processing of iron and steel, which may explain why global players like BMW, MAN and SKF Bearings chose to locate here. In keeping with the industrial history, our main university building is a converted former factory, which has been fully equipped with up-to-date technology. A new building has been constructed next to it, comprising seminar rooms, lecture halls and computer labs. We are located in the very centre where the river Steyr flows into the river Enns. Few Austrian cities are as delightful as the historic city of Steyr, nearly the entire old town has been preserved in its original glory. Many waterways and bridges symbolise the need to reach out to the future and to other parts of the world. We really look forward to meeting you, to a lively exchange of views, and to a successful SCM future! Prof. Markus Gerschberger and the whole SCM Team SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SUMMER SCHOOL Summer School set-up The summer school cases follow the logic and the lines of a supply chain • • • • • starting with supplier evaluation, usage of multimodal transport to utilize transport, set-up of SCM in a company from scratch down to customer delivery, customer segmentation, and ending with the question of last-mile delivery. SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SUMMER SCHOOL Case FarmCo: The complexity of evaluating suppliers Case company: Alois Pöttinger Maschinenfabrik GesmbH http://www.poettinger.at/en_us Industry Producer of agricultural machinery Case lecture Prof. Markus Gerschberger Case content This case focuses on supplier management through quantitative and qualitative analysis of data from a real company. In the process of solving the case, students have to determine and operationalize what constitutes a critical supplier, make sense of the data provided, and identify the most critical suppliers. Topics treated in this case Supplier management Performance measurement Qualitative and quantitative data analysis Complexity management Workshop Multimodal Transport on the Danube Waterway (Duration: 1 ½ day) Venue of the workshop: Port of Enns including company visits (one day) Work out and presentation transport cases (1/2 day) happens at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Campus Steyr Industry Logistics Workshop lecture Lisa-Maria Putz, MA Workshop content The workshop focuses on efficient multimodal transport planning with regard to cost, time and CO2 emissions. Students receive a theoretical introduction on multimodal transport and on European waterways (focus Danube). Based on this information they will simulate an optimized transport solution on the LEGO-transhipment simulator. Following to a port visit as well as a company tour they will receive a transport case which they have to work out and present individually on day two at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Topics treated in this workshop Multimodal transport planning European waterways (focus Danube) Case TKL Case company: TKL Lebensmittel Logistik http://www.tkl.at/de/index.html Industry Logistics provider in grocery industry Case lecture Prof. Hans-Christian Graf Case content Although the consumption of classical frozen food is stable since several years there is a constant change in the European frozen food market. New products or product lines appear and market players change. Because frozen food logistics is the most expensive food supply chain, retailers tend to outsource this specific field. The Austrian TKL group acts as partner for international producers and regional retailers. To meet the challenges of the market and to achieve best service levels a logistics solution has to be created for: imports of frozen products, central/decentral warehousing, shop distribution to more than 1000 outlets and to gastronomy businesses. Topics treated in this case Case Market analysis Material flow and warehouse planning Warehouse management systems Logistics technologies IS connectivity Outsourcing contracts SC performance measurements Steel Corp: Using Logistics Criteria to Segment Customers Case company: voestalpine Steel Division http://www.voestalpine.com/group/en/?lang=en Industry Steel producer Case lecture Prof. Markus Gerschberger Case content This case focuses on customer relationship management. The idea is that different customer requirements lead to different logistics services needed to satisfy customers. Different logistics services create different costs and therefore should be billed to customers. Idea of this case is that students develop a procedure on how to systematically create channels and logically assign customers through quantitative and qualitative analysis of data from a real company. Finally costs per ton of steel per channel have to be calculated. Topics treated in this case Customer segmentation and alignment Total cost of supply Market channeling Case eGrocery – PickUp & Home Delivery of Fast Moving Consumer Goods Case company: Pfeiffer HandelsgmbH http://www.pfeiffer.at/ http://www.pfeiffernewsolutions.at/ Case company: Österreichische Post AG https://www.post.at/en/index.php Industry Pfeiffer is a Food Retailer, ‘Post’ is a Logistics and Postal Services Provider Case lecture Prof. Efrem Lengauer Case content This case focuses on eGrocery in Austria, including home delivery and pick-up possibilities from a real multi-channel retailer and a logistics and postal service provider. In the process of solving different cases, students have to develop an integrated logistical model for a multi-channelretailer, including sales forecast model, location model or routing models. Topics treated in this case State-of-the-art in international eGrocery Sales forecast model Location model for Pick-up-stations Routing model for home delivery Routing model for the supply of Pick-up-stations Pick-up-Process and capacity model Boxes & packaging for fresh food and frozen food Marketing concepts to boost demand SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT SUMMER SCHOOL Travel and Accommodation Below is a list of recommendations.
