ADVANCED SERIES PENDANT - 250 WATT INSTRUCTIONS Please read these instructions in their entirety before attempting to use this unit. Energy Savers Unlimited Carson, California 90746 USA esuweb.com 1 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION SETUP READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WARNING CAUTION 1. Never connect the Aqualight Advanced fixture to any power source while hands are wet. 1. The fixture SIDE is for VIEW use over covered aquariums only. 2.0 2. The fixture should not be installed inside a canopy. 2. Do not allow unit to come into direct contact with water. 3. The fixture should not be placed directly on the aquarium. 4. For added safety, this device should be plugged into a grounded three-prong receptacle controlled by a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) circuit breaker. 3. Cut off power and stop using if the unit is submersed or dampened by water. 4. Always leave a drip-loop in the lamp cord to prevent water from running down the length of the cord and reaching the ballast connectors and/or plugs. 5. Always turn fixture off and uplug the ballast power cord before adjusting fixture or replacing lamps. Make sure to let the fixture cool down before handling. FRONT VIEW 1.0 Retractable Lamp Cord Hardware Tension Wing Nut Aquarium Ceiling-Mount Cover Drip-Loop IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE FRONT VIEW 1.1 1. Do not attach fixture to ballast until all assembly connections, adjustments and mounting setups are completely performed. PRE-INSTALLATION 1. Adjust the retractable lamp cord. Pull retractable lamp-cord hardware from ceiling-mount cover. (1.0) 2. Locate tension wing nut on retractable lamp cord hardware. (1.1) Tension Wing Nut 3. Turn tension wing nut clockwise and tighten the wing nut to hold the weight of the pendant. FRONT VIEW 4. Adjust retractable lamp cord to 12” length. (1.2) 1.2 a. Push up on pendant to retract lamp-cord. 12” b. Pull down on pendant to extend lamp-cord. A 1 INSTALLATION SETUP IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE 1. Make sure to follow the fixture and metal halide ballast connection instructions in their entirety. Failure to follow these directions may damage the unit and/or cause unit failure. SIDE VIEW 3.0 BALLAST SETUP FIXTURE AND BALLAST CONNECTION 1. Locate double-ended HQI metal halide lamp connector from the unit. (3.0) SAFETY: Turn off all switches and unplug all power cords from power outlet(s). Do not plug power cords into power outlets until fixture installation and setup is complete. Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Lamp Connector Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Ballast SIDE VIEW 2. Make sure that the double-ended HQI metal halide ballast is unplugged and switch is in the off position. MALE 3.1 FEMALE 3. Plug double-ended HQI metal halide lamp connector (male) into metal halide ballast inlet (female). (3.1) IMPORTANT! Make sure that the lamp connectors are fully inserted into the ballast. (3.2) START-UP OPERATION Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Lamp Connector 1. Make sure all connections are completely attached and secure. 2. Make sure that the switch is in the off position before plugging in power cord to power source. SIDE SECTION Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Ballast Inlet 3.2 3. The ground connector must be plugged in or attached to an outlet that is installed and grounded in accordance with all appropriate codes and ordinances. 4. Plug the power cord into an outlet or power source and turn the switches on. (3.3) NOTE: It may take up to 5-10 minutes for double-ended HQI metal halide lamp(s) to reach maximum light intensity. CAUTION: When the double-ended HQI metal halide ballast is turned off, wait until the double-ended HQI metal halide lamp has completely cooled, before turning the ballast back on. Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Lamp Connector SIDE VIEW Grounded Outlet Power Source 5. Verify that all lamp is lit and functioning properly. Plug 3 Double-Ended HQI Metal Halide Ballast Inlet 3.3 ADVANCED SERIES MAINTENANCE DOUBLE-ENDED HQI METAL HALIDE LAMP REPLACEMENT SIDE VIEW 4.0 SIDE VIEW 4.1 SAFETY: Turn off all switches and unplug all power cords from outlet or power source before performing maintenance. CAUTION: Let the unit cool down before handling. 1. Remove the fixture from aquarium. 2. Place the fixture on a non-abrasive flat surface with the bottom facing up. (4.0) 3. Pull pendant ring/reflector from black aluminum housing. (4.1) NOTE: Do not remove glass lens cover from pendant ring/reflector. 4. Using a soft cloth, hold both ends of the lamp. (4.2) Pendant Ring/Reflector 5. Gently lift both ends of the lamp to detach from the metal halide sockets. (4.3) PULL OFF 6. Remove double-ended HQI metal halide lamp. 7. Carefully install replacement double-ended HQI metal halide lamp using a soft cloth and replace light fixture parts. Black Aluminum Housing WARNING: Do not touch double-ended HQI metal halide lamp with fingers as the oils will damage the lamp. If contact is made with lamp, use a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove any fingerprints from the lamp before use. Company will, at Company's option, either repair or replace same without charge (but no cash refunds will be made). EXCLUSIONS: 1. Damage resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, lack of reasonable care, subjecting the product to any but the specified electrical service, other than normal and ordinary use of the product, subjecting the product to abnormal working conditions or any other failure not resulting from defects in materials or workmanship. 2. Damage resulting from modification, tampering with or attempted repair by anyone other than the Company. 3. Transfer of product to someone other than the original consumer purchaser. However, if the necessary repairs are covered by the warranty, Company will pay the return shipping charges to any destination within the United States or Canada.
