A message from Charlie...
Year 10!! I can hardly believe it, as I sit here
reminiscing. It seems like only yesterday
that Will and I sat at home pressing the
send button on my computer registering
the company. My first office (our bedroom)
had my dressing table as a makeshift desk
and of course our first trade show was
a small display of 12 very old fashioned
looking bears.
Who could ever have imagined those 12
beautiful bears would have changed our dreams
into reality and our lives forever.
All our worldly possessions were sold to create
the business leaving us with a small wardrobe
of clothes, a year’s rent upfront, 9,185 bears
on their way from the factory and a 4 pack of
tinned baked beans!! Moving house was easy we did it in a taxi ride.
I still pinch myself and do still feel so lucky to
be working with people I care so much about
and who make the day to day running of the
company so much easier for me now, in my
opinion I have the perfect job.
Designing the range for this year has taken quite
a while as I have a huge back catalogue now to
refer to and so many collectors’ requests it can
almost fill 3 books. I still find it hard to believe
that from our original 12 bears we have now
designed well over 1,500 different characters
across the Charlie Bears ranges and this year we
will go into production with our 1,000th Plush
Charlie Bear, who we will all meet at our official
birthday party in November.
I really hope you enjoy this year’s catalogue
and the new characters we have created. When
asked recently to describe it in one word I said
“Eclectic!” For those of you who know me, I bet
you are giggling now. When has it ever been
anything else?
I do believe that bears choose us! And I love to
create bears that suit every type of collector.
So where next?
My ultimate dream would be that everyone
worldwide would (at least on one occasion)
have the experience of being chosen by a bear.
I know this could take a while but I don’t worry
about that as I’m also known for my patience.

Our bear necessities...
The Charlie Bears range has a lovingly
designed, handcrafted bear for everyone:
Anniversary Bears herald the reappearance of your
favourite retired characters from our first ten years.
We’ve created a beautiful range of ten jointed, plush
bears that celebrate bears that you, our collectors, have
loved most. We call them little siblings because they
have even more youth and vitality than their relatives!
They are recommended for collectors from 36 months
old and, although they cannot be machine washed, they
can be surface cleaned with care.
Bearhouse Bears are delightfully cheeky non-jointed
characters, created using child-friendly plush and
designed to appeal to our friends of 18 months and
over although they are equally at home in the arms of a
grown-up collector! They are machine washable.
Charlie Bears are jointed personalities that delight
collectors of over 36 months by offering a beautiful
bear for everyone. This is our biggest collection
containing a whole host of bears and other characters.
They can be surface cleaned with care.
Charlie Classics is a new range that encapsulates our
original spirit. They contain “essence of Charlie Bears”
because they are traditional jointed, plush bears that
remind us of our roots and our first-ever collection
of 12 bears. They can be surface cleaned with care.
Recommended for age 36 months and over.
Charlie Playtime are super puppets with a whacky
difference. The collection includes some glove puppets
and a few larger, jointed puppets, all designed for active
play and to stimulate children’s imagination. Glove
puppets can be hand washed and jointed puppets are
surface washable. Age 36 months plus.
Minimo are tiny jointed characters with enormous
personalities. Their truly delightful spirit leads us
to believe they could charm the birds from the sky!
Life is breathed into them by artisans using a lot of
love, helped by use of the most luxurious, tactile,
natural fibres such as mohair, alpaca and wool felt.
Recommended for collectors of over 14 years, they
should be surface cleaned with care.
Isabelle are simply stunning! They are highly collectible,
very limited edition bears and other characters. We
create them using gorgeous natural fibres, making
them irresistible. Charlie designs the collection in close
collaboration with world-renowned bear artist, Isabelle
Lee. They appeal to the most discerning collectors as
well as anyone wanting an extra-special gift for a loved
one…or of course a treat for themselves! Like Minimo,
they are suggested for collectors of over 14 years and
should be surface cleaned with care.
Charlie Year Bears 2015 are two unique collectible
characters that help to celebrate our anniversary
with panache. Eagerly anticipated, these bears have
captured a special place in the hearts of our collectors.
Both were tenderly created, one from mohair and the
other from plush, and are surface washable.
Charlie Bears Secret Collection – ssshhhhhhh we don’t
usually announce bears from our Secret Collection
in our catalogue so this advance peek at several
characters is a unique insight into our secret world. We
will probably launch between 25 and 30 Charlie Bears
Secret Collection characters in 2015. You will be able to
see them on QVC in the first instance.
