It is often said there is no finer venue in the North East for wedding

Durham Castle.
Our staff have a wealth of experience catering for the most prestigious

Built in 1854, The Witham Hall sits in the centre of the market town of
Barnard Castle. The large hall has a sprung floor – excellent for dancing.
Last repaired in the 1980s, The Witham is about to undergo conservation,
restoration and refurbishment. At present, bookings can only be taken for
events in summer 2013 and later.

Etal Village Hall is in one of the prettiest villages in North Northumberland. It
was originally opened in 1926 as a reading room for Etal village.
In September 2005 the hall was awarded grants for refurbishment to bring
the village hall into the 21st century and to provide a focus for the
community. Today the hall offers first class facilities.

Kirkharle Courtyard is the birthplace of Capability Brown, arguably Britain’s
finest landscape designer. This beautiful Grade 2 farm steading set in rural
Northumberland, has been sensitively converted to house 15 craft
workshops, a Coffee House Restaurant and a meeting room. In addition a
long-lost plan by Capability Brown has recently been implemented creating a
lake and fully accessibly pathway with associated tree planting. Situated
nearby is Grade 1 historic St Wilfrid’s Church dating from early 14th Century.

In the true spirit of the lifeboat service, Grace Horsley Darling (1815-42)
risked her life to rescue others from certain death in a terrible storm.
Grace’s heroism earned her the first RNLI medal for gallantry to be awarded
to a woman. The museum relives the life and times of the fearless girl who
became a reluctant celebrity.

AD160 later to become the supply base for the forts along Hadrian’s Wall.

Washington sits in a position of equal distance between Newcastle,
Sunderland and Durham. The arts centre itself is a converted 19th century
farm, a ruin rescued at the time of the development of the new town in 1972
when it was decided that a centre for arts and culture should be included in
the vision for the area. Originally called Biddick Farm Arts Centre, it has gone
through several incarnations to become what is now a vibrant multi- arts
centre that hosts a theatre, gallery, rehearsal rooms, artist’s studios,
