Term Three, Week 4 – 2014
TERM 3, WEEK 4
Rāapa 13th Here-turi-kōkā 2014
Wednesday, 13th August 2014
Rubbish reminder—This term we are aiming to have less rubbish in our skip and more accountability with
children taking their left overs and rubbish home. Our motivation behind this is two fold. One reason is to
have less rubbish to remove in the school which may save us a little money we can spend elsewhere. The
second reason is to give you more of a picture of what your children are eating or not eating at school. As
with anything new, there are clinches and a number of children are taking rubbish home in their pockets!
Our process at school is to have children siting down to eat and keep their lunchboxes with them. We will
review this at the end of the term. We do have a lot of rubbish that blows into our neighbours pig and
chook paddock so we do want to encourage ownership and responsibility of what we do bring to school.
Senior Camp—Currently we are busy trimming our budget and having discussions about transportation at
Board level. I have put out a newsletter to the senior class about the camp. At this point, it would be wise
for those intending on going to arrange for an AP with Jennie at the office so its not a huge bill later in
the year and just before Christmas. If you know you may struggle with the payment we ask that you come
in and discuss it with us, we have plenty of options and do not want any children missing out on camp for
lack of funding. Looking forward to a busy end of year and a fun one with the kids!
