Join Professor Berry and students from her “Nineteenth Century
Women Healers” class in a discussion of their joint research
project on Dr. Sarah Loguen Fraser (1850-1933), one of the
first African American women to earn a medical degree, and
the first woman doctor in the Dominican Republic. As part
of the Colleges’ commemoration of the100th anniversary of
Harriet Tubman’s death, Berry and her students will establish
connections between Tubman and the work that African
American women such as Loguen were able to accomplish.
