Fireside Chat -with- Assistant Professor of English Sarah Berry and students Lindsey Haun ’13, Greg Shelkey ’14, Casey Mayer ’13 and Khalym Burke-Thomas ’13 Wednesday Nov. 7, 2012 5 p.m. Intercultural Affairs Center Join Professor Berry and students from her “Nineteenth Century Women Healers” class in a discussion of their joint research project on Dr. Sarah Loguen Fraser (1850-1933), one of the first African American women to earn a medical degree, and the first woman doctor in the Dominican Republic. As part of the Colleges’ commemoration of the100th anniversary of Harriet Tubman’s death, Berry and her students will establish connections between Tubman and the work that African American women such as Loguen were able to accomplish.
