forest harvesters forest harvesters
forest harvesters Sampo Rosenlew Ltd S ampo Rosenlew Ltd has a long tradition of the manufacture of farm and forest machinery. Wheel-mounted machinery has been manufactured since 1957. The company is well known for its high-quality, cost-efficient products. Serial production of forest harvesters started in 1997. Harvester design was started from scratch. From the very beginning the Sampo Rosenlew harvester was designed to be ideally suited for forest thinning. Most of the components used in the base machine are manufactured by Sampo Rosenlew. The hydraulic motors and rotors are supplied by Sampo Hydraulics Ltd. Sampo Rosenlew harvesters Unobstructed Visibility from the Cab! Enjoy the comfort! Sitting in the cab of the Sampo Rosenlew forest harvester makes the operator feel like the king of the forest. The cab is placed on the front frame, far from the hydraulic pumps and the engine. The curved windscreen and the high cab provide unhindered all-round visibility round the machine and over the trees. The controls are ergonomically within easy reach of the operator. “The curved windscreen and the high cab provide unobstructed visibility.” Good View over the Trees The large window area guarantees unobstructed visibility round the harvester and over the treetops. This enables efficient working and selection of the right trees. In forest thinning unhindered visibility is of the utmost importance. The pre-heating system and solar curtains will further improve operator comfort. Improved driver comfort results in increased work efficiency and reduced fuel consumption. 4& 5 SR 1046 pro Sampo Rosenlew harvesters Unrivalled Mobility Rough on Rou g h Terrain A forest thinning machine works in young and dense forests. The most essential aspect in the design of the Sampo Rosenlew forest harvester was its suitability for thinning. The four-wheeled harvester with articulated steering is extremely nimble. The joint, short wheelbase and wide steering angle enable an amazingly small turning radius and provide excellent agility. Efficient hydraulic traction motors and a self-supporting joint ensure unrivalled mobility over most demanding terrain. Gentle-touch Forestry The small dimensions of the SR 1046 pro guarantee that the harvester is agile and eco-friendly and thus well suited for first thinning of forests. A lightweight harvester does not harm the roots of the remaining stand of forest as heavy harvesters do. The measurements such as the weight and track width of the harvester are large enough to ensure stability of the base machine in forest thinning. The large contact surface of the tires reduces the load on the ground. It is essential for forest productivity that the remaining stand of forest stays healthy and undamaged. Flexible Forest Harvesting Crane handling on the Sampo Rosenlew harvester is superb in thinning forests. The side-tilting crane can reach trees further away than a fixed crane. The side tilt can be equipped with an automatic side tilt stabilizer system. 6&7 Options and Accessories There is a wide range of options and accessories that facilitate working and increase productivity, such as a 600-liter storage tank with a hand pump made by Sampo Rosenlew. The tank meets the occupational and environmental safety standards. SR 1046 pro Sampo Rosenlew harvesters Sampo Rosenlew harvesters are equipped with harvester cranes designed for professional use. The crane structure and mounting to the crane base have been further reinforced. The engines meet the latest emission control requirements. The engine torque is highest at regular working revolutions. The engine´s fuel efficiency is unrivalled. Long service intervals and easy serviceability increase efficiency. The engine is quiet and vibration free. Diesel idling as well as working and maximum revolutions are quick to select using the rocker switch. Transmission The pump in traction hydraulics produces oil pressure for the traction motors. Each rear wheel has its own motor. The flow divider valve distributes oil pressure between the rear and the front. Motive power to the front wheels is transmitted through the reduction gears from the gearbox driven by a hydraulic motor. Ground speed depends on the speed range, engine revolutions and the drive pedal position. 10 & 11 “Diesel idling, working and maximum revolutions are quick to select using the rocker switch.” SR 1046 pro Sampo Rosenlew harvesters “The work data can be printed out and forwarded wirelessly.” 12 & 13 Intelligent Intelli ii ent control system s u stem Harvesting Computer The harvesting computer measures the wood and controls the harvester head functions. It calculates the volume of wood harvested, divided according to tree species and assortments. All the working data is stored in the computer´s memory and can be printed out and forwarded wirelessly. The harvesting computer is used to adjust the harvester head pressures. Electric sensors monitor the length and thickness of the tree being harvested. Based on the sensor data, the harvesting computer calculates the volume of wood. The harvesting computer consists of modules. Wood volume calculation can be monitored on the display module in the cab. The head module collects data on the harvester head functions. The modules are connected together with a CAN route. Control System The IQAN system adjusts and programs hydraulic harvester functions such as the crane movement speeds. It has a data connection to the diesel engine, transmission and harvesting computer. The IQAN functions can be programmed by means of a graphic display. The colour display contains all the data shown on a conventional instrument panel. Error messages from the diesel and the base machine are shown on the display in simple language.
