Situated on the crest of Lookout Mountain,
Alpine’s massive rocks, rushing waterfalls and
deep woods provide the perfect setting for
a summer away at camp. Over the course
of a term, the usual schedule of activities is
interspersed with events like the 4th of July
celebration, Mountain Day celebration and a
trip day. Each night concludes with an activity
that could range from a cabin campout to a
game of “Mission Impossible” to a night of
slaughterball in the gym.

Berean Academy Day Camp offers weekly
field trips for ages 6-12 to various places like
the Creative Discovery Museum, IMAX theater,
The Tennessee Railroad, and more. Campers
ages 6-12 are taken to the swimming pool
every week, while campers ages 3-5 have
a “Water Day” every week. The camp offers a
daily craft time for all ages as well as free play
time inside and outside on the playground.
It also offers weekly activities like scavenger
hunts, watching a movie theater style, field
day games, and special parties that correlate
with the theme of the week.

Boyd-Buchanan School (BBS) offers athletic
and academic camps for both girls and boys.
Each BBS athletic camp focuses on teaching
the fundamentals of the sport and works to

BBS provides an enriching atmosphere

Kid Book Kamp is a new program set to
launch in the Chattanooga area this summer
that gives children ages 6 to 12 the tools to
launch their literary careers. Founded by
Chicago-based author and educator, Laurel
Donnellan, the program gives kids the opportunity and tools to write, illustrate, and
publish their own books. Each Kamp runs
for a week, during which kids get to learn
about each step of the writing and publishing process. Professionally published books
are mailed to parents within two weeks of
the end of the session. Each child gets an
electronic version of their story, and Kid
Book Kamp authors will have the option to
market their books online. Kid Book Kamp
(which has been featured on NPR) is currently accepting registrations for its camps
this summer.

The St. Nicholas Summer Camp

Valley View Ranch Equestrian Camp has
been a horse lovers’ paradise since 1954.
For 50 girls, during one to nine weeks,
the 600-acre camp offers English riding,
Western riding, barrels, vaulting, and
trails. CHA instructors teach beginner to
advanced riders. Girls spend 4–6 hours
daily with their OWN horse.
