Citizens Bank has installed strong and multi-layered measures to keep your funds fully protected and your account and personal information private when using Online Banking and Bill Pay. Encryption Technology Exchange of private information over the Internet, while maintaining privacy and security, is possible through the use of encryption technology. This encryption technology, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), scrambles information as it passes across the Internet. To provide the highest level of confidentiality and security available to date, Citizens Bank will only function with browsers that support 128-bit encryption technology. If your computer operates with Microsoft® Windows® 95 or higher or Apple® Macintosh® system 7.0 or higher, you probably have all the software that is required. Firewall Protection For added security, your information is passed through a firewall. The firewall is a computer designed specifically to keep unauthorized users from accessing data. Limited Access Passwords Access to your account is protected from unauthorized users by a password. Citizens Bank will NEVER solicit you by phone or email to ask for your personal login details, so do not provide this information to anyone. You can change your password at any time in the Online Banking system by selecting the User Options menu. If at any time you forget your password, contact Customer Service to reset it. 4 Citizens Bank Security Password Protection Select your password wisely. Do not select a word or number that’s easy to guess, such as your own name, your child’s name or a birth date. The best passwords are those that mix both letters and numbers. Your password is case sensitive, so be sure to remember whether any letters you use are upper- or lower-case. For added security against anyone attempting to randomly guess your password, the Online Banking and Bill Pay system will disable your account if an incorrect password is entered five times in succession. Call Customer Service to reactivate your account. Automatic Exit Click the Exit button and close your browser when you are finished with your Online Banking and Bill Pay session. For further security and peace of mind, in the event you forget or are unable to sign off, Citizens Bank will automatically end your Online Banking and Bill Pay session if there is no activity on your workstation for ten minutes. To resume a timed-out session, you will need to repeat the log in steps. Multifactor Authentication In addition to your personal password security, Citizens Bank provides additional security measures with Multifactor Authentication, or MFA. MFA strengthens the safeguards already in place by adding additional steps to verify your identity. Although these security enhancements are benefiting you and your security, your day to day experience will change very little, if at all. Part of this identification process includes recognizing the computer from which you normally log in. This information, coupled with your normal log in details, is recorded by the Online Banking system in order to verify you as the true owner of the online accounts you are attempting to access. If you attempt to log in from a computer unknown to us, you must request a temporary passcode to be emailed to the email account you have registered with Citizens Bank. Retrieve the temporary passcode and enter it to access your accounts. The temporary passcode is good for one login or until your session times out, whichever comes first, then it will expire. www.cbnm.com 5 Getting Started and Logging In Logging in to Online Banking is as easy as one, two, three.
