Thus, the Music Group has created several work groups about data : management of rights, artists/concert presentations, users cultural profils. Cap Digital’s Culture, Press & Media community created the Music Network two years ago to foster growth and content creation in the music industry, bring together community members connected to music technology, and trigger innovative projects. About 60 members contribute to making the Music Network rich and diverse. The latter • Represent the industry as a whole: production studios, labels, artists, consumers… • Embrace all trades and technologies, from sound editing (tracking, spatialization, automatic indexation), to interactive formats and interfaces, not to mention web-related activities. • Are members of all sorts and sizes: startups, SME, research labs, corporations… Since its creation and until 2011, Cap Digital yielded 34 research projects related to music and sound, which represent an investment of €31M, €14M from public funds. In 2011, innovation kept growing in the musical industry, especially for applications using data (contents, artists, users/geolocalisation and behavior data). Hackathons and other Music Hack Day are developing and they represent data dynamic innovation. In France the organism creation process, federating music network and CNM, has been launched. Cap Digital has contributed to consulting and will play an entire role from the initiatives this organism would make in technological innovation. To go with the network changing thoughts, Cap Digital is conferences partner “Tomorrow’s music” with IRMA and ParisMix. 2012 plans to be a busy year with plenty on the agenda, starting with the various calls for proposals related to the “Grand Emprunt” and of course Futur en Seine, the festival for digital life and creativity, to take place in Paris from the 14th to the 24th of June. Data management is a key contributor to value creation for the music industry; data are of various kinds: on content (identifiers, metadata), on users (preferences, behaviour, geo-localization), or sourced from third parties (through APIs). The Music Network will keep working hard on fostering projects that address data management. Come and meet us to talk about innovation in your field, get help on setting up or taking part in an innovative project, and learn more about the guidance and services Cap Digital can bring you. 9 af83média af83 is a specialist in the creation and development of web and mobile Applications: Founded in 2006, over the Atlantic aboard the Air France flight from San Francisco to Paris, af83 developed at high speed, thanks to the confidence of leaders such as Google, Vodafone, AOL, Cap Gemini, Universal TF1 and Accor.
