• associent divers formes d’acteurs :
start-up, PME, laboratoires de
recherche, groupes industriels.
Depuis sa création jusqu’en 2011 Cap
Digital a reçu 34 projets de recherche
et d’innovation dans le domaine de
la musique et du son, représentant
un montant d’investissement de
31M€ et 14M€ de soutien public.
L’innovation a continué à marche forcée
en 2011 dans l‘industrie musicale, tout
particulièrement pour les applications
utilisant des données (sur les contenus,
les artistes, les utilisateurs/données de
géolocalisation et comportementales).
Les hackathons et autres Music Hack Day
se multiplient et illustrent la dynamique
de l’innovation sur les données.
Contact
Elisabeth Racine
elisabeth.racine@capdigital.com
Le Groupe musique a ainsi créé plusieurs
groupes de travail sur les données :
gestion des droits, présentation d'artistes/
concert, profil culturel des utilisateurs.
En France le processus de création
d’un organisme fédérant la filière
musicale, le CNM, a été lancé. Cap
sociaux). Le Groupe Musique continuera
à travailler en priorité à faire émerger
des projets sur cette thématique.
Nous vous invitons à nous rejoindre pour
discuter des sujets d’innovation qui vous
intéressent, monter ou vous associer à un
projet innovant, et profiter de nombreux
services proposés par Cap Digital.
Thus, the Music Group has created
several work groups about data :
management of rights, artists/concert
presentations, users cultural profils.
Cap Digital’s Culture, Press & Media
community created the Music Network two
years ago to foster growth and content
creation in the music industry, bring together
community members connected to music
technology, and trigger innovative projects.
About 60 members contribute to making the
Music Network rich and diverse. The latter
• Represent the industry as a whole:
production studios, labels, artists,
consumers…
• Embrace all trades and technologies,
from sound editing (tracking, spatialization,
automatic indexation), to interactive formats
and interfaces, not to mention web-related
activities.
• Are members of all sorts and sizes: startups, SME, research labs, corporations…
Since its creation and until 2011, Cap Digital
yielded 34 research projects related to music
and sound, which represent an investment
of €31M, €14M from public funds.
In 2011, innovation kept growing in
the musical industry, especially for
applications using data (contents, artists,
users/geolocalisation and behavior
data). Hackathons and other Music
Hack Day are developing and they
represent data dynamic innovation.
In France the organism creation process,
federating music network and CNM, has
been launched. Cap Digital has contributed
to consulting and will play an entire role
from the initiatives this organism would
make in technological innovation. To go
with the network changing thoughts, Cap
Digital is conferences partner “Tomorrow’s
music” with IRMA and ParisMix.
2012 plans to be a busy year with plenty on
the agenda, starting with the various calls
for proposals related to the “Grand Emprunt”
and of course Futur en Seine, the festival
for digital life and creativity, to take place
in Paris from the 14th to the 24th of June.
Data management is a key contributor to
value creation for the music industry; data
are of various kinds: on content (identifiers,
metadata), on users (preferences,
behaviour, geo-localization), or sourced
from third parties (through APIs). The Music
Network will keep working hard on fostering
projects that address data management.
Come and meet us to talk about innovation
in your field, get help on setting up or
taking part in an innovative project, and
learn more about the guidance and
services Cap Digital can bring you.

five scientific teams of the Institut Jean le
Rond d’Alembert, is to carry out research
on musical instruments and sounds.
It brings together researchers who
are motivated by the same passion for
music. They are recognized experts
in their specific fields, but strive
toward multidisciplinarity: mechanics
and acoustics, perception and
cognition, audio technologies.
The LAM participates in the master ATIAM

Groupe Audio & Acoustique
The Audio & Acoustic group centralizes
LIMSI’s activities in sound via a triple
approach; “signal & information”:
digital audio, algorithms and signal
processing; “acoustic”: physical acoustics,
room acoustics, and spatial hearing;
“perception”: perceptual and cognitive
aspects of sound expression, particularly
as it pertains to music and speech. The
group is structured in 3 themes: son &
espace (3D audio and spatialization,
spatial hearing, virtual reality, room
acoustics), expressive prosody
(production and perception, relation
to language and culture, vocal and
musical expression analogies), and
analysis & synthesis (audio analysis,

Music Story
Musicovery
Music Story is a company dedicated to
B2B metadatas services. It proceeds
by data cleansing of music label's and
customer's catalogs, aggregation of
third-party contents (lyrics, concerts...)
and its own editorial production
(biographies, reviews...) in French.
Musicovery enables people to listen to
music according to the mood they want.
It was launched as a webradio end of
2006, and then on mobile and TV, and
as a player to listen to your own music
library. Musicovery’s core technology,
the mood pad, relies on a 40 musical
descriptors system which enables
to position any song on 2 dimension
continuous space: calm/energetic,
dark/positive. The technology is the
result of 3 year research on music
description and human acoustic
perception. Musicovery has attracted
an international audience of 700,000
listeners (US and Europe), and
has provided its solution in B2B
partnerships to premium names in the
car industry (Ford, VW, Toyota,…),
transport industry (Nomad Digital/
NSB), cosmetics (Bourjois),…
With a European market centric
approach, we now provide metadata
and editorial services for main physical
and digital music platforms in France
such as Deezer or Amazon.
We are always improving our technical
services based on a database repository.
this database contains more than 70000
artists, 3 millions tracks, 20000 pictures,
6000 biographies, 8000 reviews and
more music related contents and links.

Ulule
Vixid
Ulule is the leading crowdfunding
platform in Europe.
Since its launch in October 2010,
Ulule has facilitated the funding of
hundreds of creative and innovative
projects, with the support of users
from 98 countries, in 5 languages.
Creatives can raise funds for a specific
project, within a set timeline and with
a set budget by offering nice rewards
in exchange for the crowd’s support.
Bands, tour managers or labels can
as well presale a product, still with a
timeline and a set amount of presale.
Music takes a great part on Ulule : records,
concerts, video clips have been funded
in a complete DIY way or on behalf of
labels and producers. Ulule is all about the
social value of the Internet and how it can
be used, right here, right now, to connect
people in order to do, to make, to act.
Set up in 2003 Vixid’s first project was to
develop and build a live video mixer: the
VJX16-4. The founding members of the
company are Jean François Jeannard,
Vincent Julien and Sebastien Vaillant.
The team of enthusiastic audiovisual
experts knew the constraints imposed
on audiovisual artists by the latest
technologies and wanted to create a tool
that would allow VJs to mix videos LIVE,
in real time, just as DJs do with music.
They quickly realized that the product
they were developing would also brings
innovation into other uses: Live Arts
(Theatre companies, dance companies,
music bands, interactive installations,
video scenography), Events (Concerts
filming, product launches, corporate
events, sport events, fashion shows,
worship services), Web TVs (Web TVs,
local TVs, directors, multi cameras filming).

Weezevent
Weezevent believes that ticketing
is the hearth of any events. It's
not just selling tickets; it's about
communication, monetization,
marketing, logistic, press relations...
With Weezevent, we empower event
organizers with a self-service solution.
Organizers can create customizable event
pages; spread the word with social media;
collect money; increase their incoming
web traffic and brand awareness; as well
as selling tickets on their website. One
more thing: Weezevent isn't a new selling
platform; it isn't an old school ticketing
software… Weezevent is the best way
for a promoter to sell tickets itself, and
we offer the less expensive fee on that
market. Distributors, you've been warned!

& intermediation platform dedicated
to literary content creators (Poet,
tale teller, novelist, slamer, journalist
and most of all songwriter).
Tools. We offer writers many tools to
publish, grade and share their texts, as
much as creating clubs and events. Each
member has a public page which he can
use to showcase his work to the world. We
allow them to copyright their texts with our
innovative protection tool: Wordsprotect.
Crowdsourcing. We’re offering many
opportunities to connect writers to our
partners. They are invited to participate
to great writing contests, organised in
collaboration with leading partners.
