Welcome
Hello and a very warm welcome to our new look
brochure and what I hope you will agree is a
very exciting season of events here at Trinity Arts
Centre.
Our live theatre shows see the return of the ever
popular Gainsborough Amateur Operatic Society,
Chapterhouse Theatre and, for our younger
audience the Blunderbus Theatre Company.
We are also extremely privileged to welcome to
Trinity for their first time Fresh Glory Productions
with their eagerly anticipated ‘Lilies on the Land’
production.
HOOT Comedy Club is five years old in April! Look out for our special celebratory
event and all you HOOTers out there will be pleased to see that the monthly
comedy events are set to continue, going from strength to strength. Be sure to
book in advance to take advantage of the discounted price.
Our films continue to prove popular and booking in advance is now extremely
advisable. If for any reason you are not able to get a seat for one of our films
please let the Box Office know. If screenings sell out we can keep a waiting list
and show these again at a further date if there is enough demand.
Competition Time
I have now been managing Trinity Arts Centre since August 2011 and what
always strikes me is the passion for the building that has kept customers coming
back. I would like to know what you, our customers, love about Trinity.
Please let me know by email or letter what keeps you coming back through the
doors and what we need to keep doing more of. The best reply will receive two
tickets to a show from the current programme.

A Jane Austen Classic
Simon Bligh Headlines
Adapted by Laura Turner
Join the Chapterhouse
Theatre Company for an
evening of Regency
wonderment as Elinor
and Marianne Dashwood
make their first forays into
the excitingly decadent
world of 18th century
high society. Follow the
sisters as they fall in
love, make mistakes and
experience heartbreak
for the first time in their
quest to find a balance
between sense and
sensibility.

The Iron Lady
(12A)
Meryl Streep steps into
the shoes of one of the
20th Century’s most
famous and influential
women - Margaret
Thatcher. With a great
supporting cast, it tells
the story of her rise to
power, her struggle to be
taken seriously in a male
dominated world and the
price she paid.
It’s an insightful portrait
of an extraordinary and
complex woman.

The Ides of
March (15)
A blistering characterdriven thriller set in the
murky world of an
American Presidential
election focuses on a
young, ambitious aide
who finds his notions of
personal loyalty tested to
the limit as sex, betrayal
and power corrupt everyone around him. This
fourth film from Clooney
as a director is both
gripping and ferociously
intelligent.
Starring
Ryan Gosling
George Clooney
Dir: George Clooney

War Horse
W/E
(12A)
Wallis & Edward (15)
This is a tale of loyalty,
hope and tenacity, in a
sweeping canvas of
rural England and Europe
during the First World
War. About a remarkable
friendship between a
horse named Joey and a
man called Albert. When
war breaks out, Joey is
sold to the cavalry and
shipped to France but
Albert cannot forget him,
and lies about his age to
enlist with the army to
bring him home.
A true account of the
love affair between
divorcee Wallis Simpson
and King Edward VIII
that led to his abdication
in 1936. This parallel
romantic story based in
modern New York,
makes for a genuinely
engrossing drama that at
times is as compelling as
"The King's Speech."

The Artist
Martin Scorsese, the
true master of cinematic
virtuosity, has conjured
up true magic in family
entertainment. Set in the
1930s, an orphan boy
lives a secret life in the
walls of a Paris train
station. With the help of
an eccentric girl, he
searches for the answer
to a mystery, and links
the father he recently lost
to an ill-tempered toy
shop owner and a heart
shaped lock seemingly
without a key.
(PG)
The most entertaining
film you will see this year,
a joyous and endlessly
inventive story set just
as talking pictures burst
onto the scene. Silent
movie star George
Valentin believes they
are just a passing fad
and refuses to appear in
them. As his career
stalls, a young actress
he discovered becomes
an all singing, all dancing,
all talking Hollywood
star.

Come join us,
it’s going to be
a hoot!
Plop was a baby Barn Owl. He was fat and fluffy. He
had big round eyes. Plop was exactly the same as
every barn owl that has ever been – except for one
thing. He was AFRAID OF THE DARK.
This funny, gentle and reassuring tale is written
especially for small people aged 3 - 7, and grownups who sleep with the big light on!

George Clooney is
superb as a Hawaiian
lawyer who is forced to

his wife suffers a near
fatal accident. Forced to
take on the role of back

his two daughters who
he hardly knows and
learns that his wife has
been harbouring a
secret. An intelligent,
complex drama that is
hilarious and heartfelt in
equal measure.

Me and My Girl
Gainsborough Amateur Operatic Society
A sublime and sunny treat for musical comedy fans
of all ages
The show revolves around an unrefined cockney
called Bill Snibson who is discovered to be the longlost 14th Earl of Hareford but he can only inherit the
title and estate if he satisfies the will’s executors
that he is a ‘fit and proper person’ to do so.
The result? Chaos of the most comical kind.
With a host of hilarious characters, witty one-liners
(guaranteed by Stephen Fry’s acclaimed revision)
and toe-tapping, uplifting musical numbers (The
Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On, Leaning
On A Lamp Post), ‘Me and My Girl’ is a must see!
Come and support Gainsborough’s long
standing amateur group!

Coriolanus (15)
Shakespeare’s most
military tragedy gets a
bloody modern
make-over in this account
of the brutal soldier
Coriolanus who is so
disgusted by the people
of Rome he joins up with
his arch enemy to destroy
them. Hugely physical,
this is classic

Lilies on the Land
A truly remarkable and sparkling piece of theatre
which celebrates an extraordinary episode in
Britain’s history – the Women’s Land Army of World
War II.
This delightful and often deeply touching play charts
the personal journeys of four women who sign up to
become Land Girls, determined to work endless,
backbreaking hours on farms across the country in a
bid to do their best for the War Effort.
Based on hundreds of letters from and interviews
with the original Land Girls along with songs from
the period, Lilies on the Land is a revealing, funny,
wonderfully moving and utterly captivating portrait of
some of Britain’s pluckiest, unsung heroes.
Simply unmissable, this is theatre at its most
memorable.
