MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is to put Christian principles into
practice through programs and services that promote youth development, healthy
living, and social responsibility for all.
STRENGTHENING
THE FOUNDATIONS
OF OUR COMMUNITY!
We are a powerful association joined together by a shared commitment to
nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense
of social responsibility. We believe that lasting personal and social changes can
only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health, and
our neighbors. Every day, we work to make sure that everyone, regardless of age,
income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Nurturing the potential of every child and teen
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
Improving the nation’s health and well-being
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Giving back and providing support to our neighbors
The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA serves the following communities: Boonton,
Boonton Township, Denville, Kinnelon/Butler, Lincoln Park, Montville, Mountain
Lakes, Parsippany, Pequannock, and Riverdale.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Y believes in serving the needs of all members in our community, regardless of their ability to pay the full cost of
membership and programs. To apply for financial assistance, stop by the Member Services Desk, call (973) 334-2820, or

to those who are currently enrolled in session programs. However, each year the
first day of Fall I registration is open to all members.
*Y membership required for participation in programs unless noted otherwise.
HOW TO REGISTER
Online and in-person registration takes place simultaneously. No phone or mail
registrations accepted. If you choose to register online, visit the Y’s website
prior to registration to confirm your family is properly linked in our membership
database. A credit on your account may be applied toward program registration

register in person. New memberships must be purchased in person.
WITHDRAWING FROM A PROGRAM
If you must withdraw from a program, you must notify the appropriate director
before the first day of the session, not the first day of the class, in order to
receive a full refund or credit. On or after the first day of the session, program
fees are non-refundable. Withdrawals due to a medical reason, documented by a
physician, will be eligible for a credit.
PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS
We make every effort to run session programs as scheduled. In the event that we
are forced to cancel a program due to uncontrollable factors such as weather, power
outages, etc., no refunds or makeup classes will be given. If a program is cancelled
due to lack of enrollment, the Y will credit or refund your program fee in full.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
PRESCHOOL & YOUTH AQUATICS
AQUATICS FOR
KIDS AT THE Y
Our swim lesson program is designed to help kids
develop a lifelong love of the water with competency,
confidence and endurance.
To reach this goal students are introduced to:
• Stroke mechanics
• Personal safety
• Water games
• Character development
Parent or Guardian/Child
classes for children
under age 3 years
(or not potty trained)
offer the opportunity
for toddlers to become
comfortable in the water
with the security of a
parent or guardian.
Please have your child
wear plastic training
pants to maintain a
clean pool. No disposable
diapers at any time.
Preschool classes for
children 3-6 years (and
potty trained) start them
on the way to becoming
a swimmer with four
progressive levels starting
with “Pike” class. Basic
swimming skills with seven
progressive levels starting
with “Polliwog” class will
be introduced in our Youth
classes for children
6-13 years.
5
LESSON PLACEMENT & REGISTRATION
If your child is new to our program (or has not participated at our
Y for more than six months), you must set up an evaluation to
determine their swim level before registering for a class. Call Carrie
for an appointment. If your child is currently enrolled in lessons,
go to our website the day before the next registration time and
check the appropriate swim level for which your child should sign
up. Evaluation is not needed for a beginner. Just sign up for the
age-appropriate class. Non-members are welcome to sign up for any
parent/child class.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
PRESCHOOL / YOUTH FUN & FITNESS
Getting an early start is so important. The time between 6 months and
3 years is the most valuable developmental period to spend one-on-one
moments with your child to prepare them for the world around them.
Each level of our specialized parent/child classes encourages development
through play and learning fundamentals. Our trained instructors will educate
parents as well as introduce age-appropriate skills in a fun, safe and
creative environment. Meet other moms, learn techniques and understand
your child’s important milestones.
See page 3 for information on registering for classes.
SWIM, GYM & FUN 3-5 years and potty trained
This class is designed to compliment preschool. Encouraging confidence,
creativity and a sense of belonging are all goals. A 45-minute structured

healthy exercise, self control, and good habits. Social play, art, and science,
coupled with kindness and manners makes this a great enrichment program
for your preschooler. In warmer weather children may utilize our playground
and outdoor facilities. Please pack a light nutritional snack.

ANNUAL COAT DRIVE
October 2-12
Don’t throw those old coats away! Some of our less fortunate
neighbors could use them. During the week of October 2-12
the Y will be partnering with The Community Church of
Mountain Lakes, Mountain Lakes High School Key Club, and
the Market Street Mission for our annual coat drive. All sizes
and styles welcome, but coats should be clean and in good
condition. Drop them off in our collection box in the lobby or
the Community Church during the above dates only.
GIVE A KID THE Y
It’s not too late to support our annual giving campaign!
Give a Kid the Y provides financial assistance to those
families who can’t afford Y programs. Please help. No
donation is too small, it’s your participation that counts.
Donate online or in person at the Member Services Desk.
