Oh, my God! They killed Kenny!
That might be the first intuition coming up when u hear the name Kenny. But that DJ Kenny
D is all but dead he always establishes by performing at the turntables with his
considerable number of moves and skillz he is blessed with. No matter if it is about rocking
the club,bouncing the jam, supporting a Liveact or continuing the series of showing his
skillz on mixtapes and various productions, Kenny D demonstrates his abilities of beeing a
DJ and delighting and moving his crowd at any time.
+++ The Story +++
Making his first steps in a DJ workshop by LITTLE T in 1998, KENNY D already released his
first mixtape “You know C-Town?” the following year. Due to the enormous popularity of
the tape it did not take very long till the second one came out. “Rookie Digital” was
published in 1999 in collaboration with DJ Maxi from Bremen. Shortly afterwards Phlatline
Records took notice of KENNY and added him to their booking roster whereupon more
demanding jobs like Aftershow Parties, supporting several Acts like DMX, Redman or 50
Cent were waiting. In the period following he gathered a lot of experiences having gigs in
clubs, discotheques and at open-air festivals from what he now can draw upon. Thus, he for
example plays at the europeans biggest hip hop festival, called “Splash!” every year. That
is also where VIVA first took notice of the Phlatline Rookie in 2003 and made an interview
with him. In addition, KENNY got to release the first official Splash! Mixtape in
collaboration with DJ SHUSTA. That mixtape was elected “mixtape of the month” in August,
2003 by JUICE magazine and was sold out immediately. From that time on DJ KENNY D
produced every Splash! Mixtape, which was beeing sold more successful every year. The
temporary highlight of this mixtape series was the Splash! Mixtape 2006, hosted by Keith
Murry, which not only became the cover story at Port01 and caused an interview with JUICE
magazine but also was promoted on MTV.
In the meantime a couple of flights where booked to Moscow and the guys from Kazik
honored KENNY with his personal playcard at the “Kingz of DJing” set. 2007 was going to
be a very successful year. On the one hand there was another coverstory at WordUP!
Magazine, a big Mixery Raw Deluxe interview as well as several big news and interviews in
medias like MTV or JUICE magazine. Asides from that the first german DJ instructing DVD
“gut aufgelegt!” as well as the official and european exclusive M.O.P. pre-album mixtape of
the G-unit album, that was going to come out in spring, was released. Subsequently
Seventyseven, the biggest european mailorder catalog for the urban market, made a
special deal with KENNY D. Since december 2007 a free mixtape is beeing added to every
order. A deal like this was without precedent.
+++ Uptowns Finest the Radioshow+++
Since january,2004 DJ KENNY D is a permanent feature at the radioshow Uptowns Finest on
Radio T ( 102,7 MHz), next to DJ Ron and FastPhive. Since june that year the weekly show
is not only broadcasted terrestrial, but you can listen to it as Podcast on the internet or
even on the phone. Ever after the number of listeners increased extremely. Meanwhile the
show has steady listeners from Chemnitz to Greece.
+++ Phlatline Club Movement +++
The “kings of the club” started touring through Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 2004.
The PCM performed at many festivals like Splash!, Rheinkultur, Sommer am See, Airport,
Junimond or Vollmondcamp to name but a few and there is unlikely any city where the PCM
is not a welcome guest. Their biggest strengh is probably to always be able adapting a
different audience or a new partysituation, to bend a bow and surprise. By now DJ JALEEL,
DJ KENNY D and TEFLA are working on their 7th mixtape, called “H.I.T.S. Vol. 5” (Hot In
The Streets). Previous mixtapes obtained excellent reviews from medias like JUICE and
BACKSPIN magazine.
+++ Phlatline Club Movement +++
So what you can expect is THREE fresh guys, TWO never stopping turntables and ONE
party you will never forget!
Last but not least there is to mention that for 3 years the PCM successfully defends the
trophy of the Splash! Soundclash they won against OPTIK SOUNDSYSTEM, DJ SCREAM and
DJ KITSUNE, for example.
+++ The Producer +++
No doubt KENNY D can not keep is hands off the sampler, sequenzer and keyboard as well.
At the beginning he exclusively produced for Tego&Blasee and released a promo tape with
them at JUICE magazine.They received a very good feedback for that. Due to the fact that
the formation pursued different goals the band broke up. From there KENNY`s beats called
attention to several artists like TEFLA&JALEEL, FLER or Deine Lieblingsrapper HARRIS and
SIDO. Amongst others KENNY is responsible for the “EY YO” production from Deine
Lieblingsrapper, that is on the “Aggro Ansage Nr.4” album. Jamba is selling a ringtone of
that production. There are also a couple of KENNYs beats on the current TEFLA&JALEEL
album. The so far latest release with the official AGGRO stamp on it was the “Wahlkampf
Remix” by SIDO and G-HOT that is published on the internet.

For the production on the “Aggro Ansage Nr.4” album KENNY was awarded a gold record.
The album was sold 120.000 times.

All that leads to the steadily rising extent of KENNY Ds fame and in the future there will be
a lot more mixtapes,live performances and beats from him, because you know…the saga
continues.

THE GOLD BOY
It all began with 70 sold “You know CTown” tapes in 1999 and now we talk
about 120.000 sold records and gold
status. On April,3 Kenny D got awarded
the gold record in Berlin for the production
“EY YO” ( Deine Lieblingsrapper) from the
“Aggro Ansage Nr.4” album. For those who

September, 29 was the date of the release of
