Board Members

TENANT BOARD MEMBERS
Agnes is a tenant board member and lives in Whaley Bridge. She was
elected to the Chair of the Board at the November 2006 board meeting.
A firm believer in the decent homes standard for everyone, she involves
herself in helping High Peak Community Housing to maintain this
achievement.
She also believes that HPCH should be run in an efficient and
constructive way with a dedicated board and staff, and envisages the
future to be a challenge, but is confident the company will continue to
be successful.

THE BOARD
She is retired and enjoys spending time with her children and
grandchildren.
COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS
Chris is now in his second four year term as elected member on HPBC.
He has been married to Linda for 38 years and has two sons and two
grandchildren, with whom he likes to spend as much time as possible.
Chris is 59 and has worked in the haulage industry for thirty years,
and was a service man in the army prior to this. His hobbies are music
(mainly blues), and his grandchildren.
Chris is a trustee of Glossop Community Transport, a Midas Trainer and
volunteer driver for them too. Chris has lived in Glossop for 57 of his
59 years having moved from Stockport when he was aged 2. He enjoys
being a Councillor, he finds the challenges are many fold. He was
appointed Chair of the Social Inclusion and Community Select committee
for HPBC and also Vice Chair at HPCH in November 2010.
He looks forward to serving HPCH as a Director, and is sure he has much
to offer the company. He has lived at his present address for 34 years.
He took up his right to buy option 12 years ago, and therefore has many
years of experience of being a council tenant to call on.

COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS
On completion of his studies at the University of Bradford he spent his
early career coordinating urban regeneration projects in Edinburgh and
Midlothian. In 1987 Peter was appointed Deputy Director of Housing for
Berwickshire District Council. He has been Director of Development and
Property Services of Equity Housing Group since October 1989.
He is married with three daughters. He is a keen cyclist, hill walker and
regular tennis player.

Graham is 57 and has been married for over 30 years to Lynda. They
have 7 grand children and live in Whitfield in Glossop. He served in the
Military for 6 years as a full Corporal and worked for 25 years as an
electrical technician. He is now working as a guard for Northern Rail.
He now wants to utilize his work and life experiences to some useful
purpose and feels that the role of Tenant Board member will stretch his
capabilities, give him some self satisfaction whilst also giving something
back to the community.
Graham enjoys computing, reading, messing about in the garage doing
nothing in particular, taking the grandchildren out and visiting his kids.

TENANT BOARD MEMBERS
Jason has been a tenant of High Peak Community Housing for 12 years
and has a background in Finance, research and IT. Currently working
for a different local authority he has gained extensive experience
of committee and board level meetings and the operation of local
authorities. He is also familiar with local government finances and
aware of the issues facing social housing providers.
He would like to give something back to the community by representing
fellow tenants at board level to help ensure that HPCH is reactive to the
needs of tenants whilst carefully managing the quality and extent of the
housing stock in the face of competing pressures for funding.

TENANT BOARD MEMBERS
Kerry has been involved on the Tenants’ Forum and was Chair of the
Tenant Action Zone in the South.
She believes that these roles have given her a good insight into how the
company works and its relationship with the community. Kerry is married
with a family.
Her reasons for joining the Board are to help make the community a
better and safe place, where all agencies work together. Kerry believes
that HPCH holds a strategic role in this.

TENANT BOARD MEMBERS
Margaret has been a Tenant since 1993 and feels that since becoming
an ALMO the homes and neighbourhoods of High Peak have changed
dramatically.
After attending a local meeting Margaret became more involved and
served on the Tenants’ Forum where she underwent extensive relevant
and interesting training.
Margaret wants to help and make a difference for tenants whilst
appreciating the hard work HPCH has undertaken to improve the lives
and homes of customers already.

COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS
Linda was born in Leamington Spa Warwickshire. As a qualified
Secretary and Office Manager she has worked for many large, small,
national and multinational companies all over the country. She gained
experience working in different environments but her most enjoyable
time was working for two professional football clubs over a period of
12 years.
Linda started her own company providing business services for small
companies and now works on an ad hoc basis providing book keeping
services.
Linda has lived in Buxton for 15 years and was elected to HPBC in
May 2007 and put onto the Executive in May 2008 with a portfolio for
planning.
Linda enjoys living in the Peak District, socialising and entertaining,
travelling and relaxing in the sunshine and being able to read a book
without interruption!

Anthony has been a Councillor since 1999 representing the Gamesley
Ward. During his time on council he has been a member of various
committees, and has spent time as Executive member for the
environment, Chair of the Environmental Select Committee, Chair of the
Audit & Regulatory Committee & Chair of Licensing.
Anthony is currently a member of the Corporate Select Committee,
Chair of the Joint Consultative Committee of the audit and regulatory
committee. Anthony is also treasurer of the Gamesley Residents
Association, Vice Chair at St Margaret’s School and prior to joining the
board, was vice chair of the North Tenants Panel.

MCKEOWN
Anthony’s interests include Cinema, reading politics and current affairs.
Anthony is particularly interested in seeing that local residents receive
the best repairs service possible, and that the work of the company, in
partnership with others includes improvements to the whole of the areas
we work in - not just properties.
COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS
Linda Leather has lived in Whaley Bridge for 30 Years, and is a registered
manager for a domiciliary home care provider in the Stockport area.
She has previously worked for the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital.
She undertakes the moving and handling training, induction training
and other core skill training for care staff and has worked closely with
Ridge Danyers College.
Linda has two grown up sons and 4 grandchildren. She is currently
chair of Whaley Bridge Town Council and has been a Borough Councillor
for nearly 4 years. She is currently Chair of Whaley Bridge regeneration
Partnership.
Linda is especially interested in affordable housing and ensuring that
local residents receive a responsive repairs service.

John is now retired having worked in the Computer industry for over 40
years. He moved to the High Peak in the late 1960’s and was honoured
to serve as Mayor of the Borough of High Peak in 1989.
John has been a councillor since 1971, and has served on many
Committees and Outside bodies. He held the Community and Social
Development portfolio during 2003 to 2007. High Peak Borough Council
was accredited as an Excellent Council in 2004, and (joint) Council of
the Year in 2007. John established the Friends of Whaley Bridge Station
Group in 2006, the group won First prize in the National Community Rail
Awards in 2007 in the Best Station Adoption Group category. He is also
currently a Board Member of the Peak District Rural Housing Association.
JOHN PRITCHARD
John has a grown up son and daughter who both live in Oxford. His
hobbies include walking, gardening and watching football and cricket.
John also completed 53 marathons before retiring in 1992.

Awaad is a professionally qualified Chartered Certified Accountant
F.C.C.A with a degree in Economics and many years experience at a
senior management level within the corporate and charity sectors. During
the past 18 years he has developed a strong background in taxation,
auditing, treasury, budgeting, planning and business development at
both a practical and strategic level. Awaad was the Group Head of
Business planning at Great Places Housing Group one of the largest
Housing Groups in the North of England. Awaad is also the founder
owner of SARKS Accountants a practice that specialise in establishing
and running small businesses.
Awaad has lived and worked in the area for several years, and enjoyed
it so much, he appreciates the opportunity to assist in the provision of
providing the best possible housing services to the community.

I N D E P E N D A N T
Mike is highly qualified in sales and marketing with extensive
management experience in a wide range of business areas. He is the
director and founder of his own marketing and training consultancy with
many years experience delivering enterprise and work related learning in
schools.
He is a former Chair of Business Link High Peak and Director of North
Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce from 1992 to 2003. Mike is also
a member of the Institute of Business Consulting and a mentor for
Nottingham Business ventures.
Mike has three children and 6 grandchildren. He has lived in Buxton for

entertaining his grandchildren
