Curriculum Vitae of cover letter Paul Gouda 5-514 Campbell St. Nanaimo, British Columbia Canada. V9R-3H1 (free to relocate immediately) 250-816-1242 paulgouda@gmail.com Areas of experience: Hotel / Motel / Resort, Dining - Drinking establishment, administration and/or management duties. Chef / manager. Restaurant - Dining lounge manager. Pub operator. Catering & banquets. Motel & resort manager & asst. mngr. And several assistant / administrative hospitality duties. Dear Sir / Madam: I have been in the hospitality business most of my life, at all areas and levels of operations. I am confident you’ll find me an asset that brings to your firm a rich hands-on experience in a wide variety of Motel, Restaurant – Dining lounge, Hotel and Resort business administration, promotion, kitchen, customer service, and management duties. I have developed the right spirit of business understanding, and I know how to treat your business as my own, and how to strive to promote it to its highest potential. This is a field I truly enjoy. I have worked for and ran family business for many years: restaurant, licensed club and motel. Following that, I have managed “Aurora Inn” Motel for 4 years and achieved 600% business increase, 30% budget reduction and the business became so attractive, it was sold to “Days Inn” who wanted to retain me – however I was offered a tourism resort administrative manager position overseas for 3 years by a non-Canadian businessman who was on a tourism tour, whom I had met in Ontario. That annual contract was renewed three times, and despite the mutual satisfaction and an offer to renew it again, I returned home to Canada and I established a hospitality business in BC. I wish to comment that when I ran the Aurora Inn and the Gulf Resort, I made the owner - general manager’s job so easy, he depended on me totally. I basically ran the business, even filled-in wherever and whatever is needed: absent chef, even emergency repairs, reception duties, and: I managed the accounting – bookkeeping – as well as other management duties as needed. Following that, I have run “Friends Dining Lounge” in Nanaimo for 10 years. Again, the same simple, family business spirit, and flexibility was needed, especially that this was a smaller, 35 seat operation. I was the only chef, the only bookkeeper, the manager and I helped when needed even in serving – all while I managed the staff. Reference: www.friendsdininglounge.com I’ll explain why I have concluded its operation recently. I have strong “people skills”, I work well with my superior, I put my heart and soul into what I do. I care. I enjoy it. I create a pleasant and motivated environment, and I never disappointed the owner / general manger. I am very fit. I play soccer in an over-40 recreational league. I am a single parent, raised my son on my own since age 3, and now he is a student at UIV, which gives my the freedom to relocate and to change course. 1 I wish to also add that during the Aurora Inn duties, I introduced a recreational room that attracted business and generated drinks & light food revenue. I created a web site and business flyers and cards. I managed the restaurant, the reception, publicity & promotion, and bookkeeping - as well as supplies for the food and drinks services. I accepted an on-premises accommodation to attend to the 24/7 nature of the operation. I also exercised my “cooking hobby” to cook whenever was needed - (note: I am a certified chef.) I have always had a friends & family relationship with my superiors / business owners without crossing the business boundaries. I would also like to mention that I produced a poetry book and two cookbooks: “my kitchen products” and “Chef’s encyclopedia – part-1 Chicken.” Regardless of what level of service you may need, I know how to fit in, to contribute within my boundaries and as directed by my superior, and to be a team player or a business family member with a sincere and open-minded attitude. Dear Sir / Madam: I Enjoy and excel in the hospitality business and I now have the 100% time to dedicate. I have good public relations and social skills, good work ethics and I look forward to hearing from you. Whether you may find me suitable for a specific duty; or for general or a department duties; I know how to fit in within the business directives, and to contribute as expected. I have a great deal of references if requested. Wishing you all the best at home and business; Respectfully and sincerely: Paul Gouda Appearance, image and dress code; based on position, duties from day to day, and the work environment. My last post necessitated both casual or semi-casual and formal as shown here - from filling in as chef, to a semi-casual attire for administrative duties, to a proper suite & tie for management and business representation duties. I understand that employers nowadays request or expect the complete CV report to address social and personality factors including physique and image.
