THE VIETNAMESE AMERICAN IMPACT
Orange County is home to approximately 200,000 Vietnamese Americans, the
largest in the United States. They are the county’s largest ethnic group and
among the fastest growing population.
Vietnamese Americans own approximately 15,000 businesses in Orange
County. Asian American-owned businesses generate over $20 billion in
revenue annually.
Viet Film Fest is organized by the Vietnamese American Arts & Letters
Association (VAALA), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit arts organization, to
celebrate Vietnamese voices in cinema from around the world.
The 4-day festival will take place from April 14-17, 2016 at AMC
Orange 30.
Over a dozen appointed or elected government officials in Orange County are
Vietnamese American, providing a strong political base for the community.

VIET FILM FEST C/O VAALA
Starting in 2003 with an audience of several hundred in auditoriums at the University of
California, Irvine and UCLA, Viet Film Fest (VFF) now draws an annual onsite audience of
over 5,000. It is the only international film festival with the mission of celebrating
Vietnamese voices in cinema. Situated in the largest Vietnamese community outside of
Vietnam, the festival features films by persons of Vietnamese descent or productions that
focus on the Vietnamese experience. Viet Film Fest has drawn Academy Award nominated
directors from France and Canada, as well as films from Israel, South Korea, Japan, Brazil,
and Germany. Through the universal language of cinema, Viet Film Fest celebrates our
communities by bringing together a multiplicity of perspectives and voices.

ABOUT THE VENUE
With a population of over 3 million, the county has
traditionally been known for its beautiful beaches and theme
parks. Yet Orange County is also a vibrant and dynamically
changing region of the United States with a diverse population
whose stories should be shared.
AMC 30 is located in the Outlets at Orange, a premier
shopping destination located minutes away from such famous
landmarks such as Disneyland Resort, Angel Stadium, Honda
Center, and the Anaheim Convention Center. The outdoor
shopping center offers over 25 restaurants and cafes, an
indoor skate park, Dave and Busters, bowling, and a day spa.
ABOUT LITTLE SAIGON
Considered the capital of the Vietnamese in America, Little
Saigon spans five cities (Westminster, Garden Grove, Santa
Ana, Fountain Valley, and Huntington Beach) in Orange
County and includes prime destinations for dining,
shopping, entertainment and media networks. Little Saigon
is where “pho” became a staple in American cuisine.

Founded in 1991 by a group of Vietnamese American journalists, artists and friends, Vietnamese American Arts &
Letters Association (VAALA) is a community-based, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. VAALA’s mission is to connect
and enrich communities through Vietnamese art and culture. VAALA has organized numerous cultural events such as
art exhibitions, book fairs, book signings, recitals, plays, lectures, Viet Film Fest, the annual Children's Moon Festival
and year-long art and music classes. VAALA recently developed the smART Program, which offers free art workshops
for non-profit youth organizations in the Orange County and Los Angeles areas.
