Welcome
WELCOME TO
MAS NOU
Hapimag opened the Mas Nou resort in June 1992,
shortly before the Olympic Games in Barcelona. It
is considered one of the most attractive resorts on
the entire Costa Brava.
National Geographic, one of the most widely read
travel magazines in the world, ranked Costa Brava
among the top 20 tourist destinations in the world
in 2012.
From Barcelona and Girona to fine wines and wine
cellars, from tapas and water sports to bike tours
and major artists such as Dalí, Miró and Gaudí, there
is plenty to do and see here.
But Mas Nou is first and foremost a golfer’s paradise.
The area boasts a range of golf courses suitable for all
levels, and Club Golf d’Aro is right at your front door.
We look forward to welcoming you to Mas Nou and
wish you a relaxing and eventful trip – and a good
game – on the Costa Brava.

MAS NOU –
GOLFER’S PARADISE
Mas Nou lies in the middle of the Club
Golf d’Aro golf course on a 325 metrehigh plateau. The resort is the ideal starting point for making excursions to the
coast.
The approximately 220 kilometre-long Costa Brava
stretches from the foothills of the Pyrenees on the
border between France and Spain near Portbou to
Blanes in south-west Catalonia.
Costa Brava is literally the “wild coast”.
“The wild coast”, the name given to the Costa Brava
by the author Ferran Agulló, includes the peninsula
surrounding Cadaqués with the Cap de Creus as the
easternmost point of Catalonia, the countryside
around Cap de Begur near Palafrugell, and the coastline between Sant Feliu de Guixols and Tossa de Mar.
Barcelona can be reached by car in about an hour.
We will be happy to give you tips on interesting
towns to visit – or you can simply join one of our
organised excursions.

History
HISTORY AND
CULTURE
Catalonia is rich both in history and culture.
Painters such as Salvador Dalí and Joan
Miró, and architect Antoni Gaudí are all
from Catalonia.
Catalonia, with its capital Barcelona, is one of the
17 autonomous regions of Spain. Probably the bestknown symbol of Barcelona is the Sagrada Familia
church. Construction began in 1882 by the architect
Antoni Gaudí and is still unfinished today. In addition
to the Sagrada Familia, the Casa Milà, Casa Batlló
and the Park Güell are all part of Gaudí ’s renowned
works and are a must-see when visiting the city.
The Costa Brava earned the name “wild coast” because of the steep, jagged rock formations that fall
from the parallel mountain ranges (Serras) down to the
sea. Picturesque fishing villages, such as Cadaqués,
L’Escala, Begur, Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu, as
well as small, remote beaches and bays (Calas) are
nestled down between the capes, some of which can
only be reached by boat.
The Costa Brava drew most of its economic activity
from fishing and cork manufacturing until the turn of
the 20th century. These industries still operate here
but have lost their importance. Today, tourism is the
main source of revenue.
History on display
The region’s history is showcased in the Fishing Museum
in Palamós, the Cork Museum in Sant Feliu de Guixols
and the Ceramics Museum in
La Bisbal d’Emporda.

Excursions and activities
GIRONA –
A CITY JEWEL
Girona is one of Spain’s most beautiful
cities. Explore the old town of Girona and
discover the Jewish quarter, the Cathedral, the Arab Baths and much more.
The houses on the Onyar
The view of the picturesque houses on the banks
of River Onyar is one of the most magnificent photo
opportunities in Girona.
The Jewish Quarter
The houses on the steep alleyways surrounding La
Força Street were home to the Jewish community of
Girona in the Middle Ages.
The cathedral
The cathedral is a combination of various architectural styles from different eras which complement
each other harmoniously (11th – 18th century). The
cloister and a part of the tower still remain from the
original Romanesque building (1038). The Gothic
nave is the largest in the world.
The Arab baths
Despite various Arab-influenced structural elements,
this Romanesque building dating from the 12th century was built in the style of the ancient Roman
baths. Of great interest is the frigidarium – the cold
chamber – with its robust circular arch and central
cupola standing on narrow columns.
The “Call” network
From Mas Nou, three of the
twenty-one Jewish quarters
(known as “Call” in Catalan)
belonging to the Spanish
network can be visited.
