Arrive Paris
Bienvenue! Upon arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport this morning a local guide will be waiting to
meet you and assist you to the coach. Drive into
the City of Light embarking on an introductory
Paris city tour featuring the major landmarks of
both Right and Left Banks of the Seine. There will
be time for a stroll and lunch on your own before
continuing to the hotel. After check-in rest and
refresh before gathering for a welcome dinner at

Paris/Bayeux
Depart westwards to the region of Normandy,
which borders the English Channel. En route,
visit Monet’s Garden at Giverny - enjoy the fabulous display and visit the artist’s home and studio.
Continue to Bayeux for a tour of this lovely little
city and a visit to the historic Bayeux Tapestry.
This exquisitely embroidered cloth tells the story
of the Norman invasion of England in 1066.

Bayeux
Take a full day to explore the historic D-Day
country: travel the short distance to the coast
of the English Channel at Arromanches to visit
the D-Day museum and see the remains of the
‘Mulberry’ – the artificial harbour created for the
invasion. Then to Colleville-sur-Mer to visit the
moving memorial to the US Forces who gave
their lives in the campaign, then pay tribute at
the cemetery and visit Omaha Beach. Hotel

Bayeux/St. Malo
Depart for the journey into the neighbouring
province of Brittany. Stop in the charming small
town of Villedieu-les-Poeles to see the local
industry, the manufacture of copper cooking
pans. Then on to Avranches to see the monument for General Patton located on the site of his
headquarters during the campaign. Travel west
to Mont St Michel, the extraordinary monasteryfortress built on an island on the bay of St. Michel
(work is now in progress to remove the causeway
and return the Mont to its island status). Visit the
Monastery and little town before continuing to
your overnight destination, the charming port of

St. Malo/Loire Valley
Explore St. Malo and its walls, then the coast of
northern Brittany. Visit the old city of Dol de
Bretagne and its fine cathedral. A highlight of
the day is the ancient medieval city of Dinan,
high above the river Rance. Travel along the
‘Marches’ – the region between Brittany and Normandy – to Touraine, in the Loire Valley. Arrive at

Today explore the lovely countryside of the river
Loire, famed for its many castles and palaces.
Tour the Chateau of Chenonceau, considered
the loveliest of all French chateaux, with its great
hall bridging the river Cher and its beautiful park
and gardens. Visit a typical mushroom cave and
enjoy wine-tasting in Vouvray. Return to your

Continue your Loire Valley exploration with a
visit to a favorite of the French kings, Chateau
Amboise. Travel via Blois with a stop to see the
exterior of the historic Chateau, then north to

guide at the Palace of Versailles and visit the
magnificent chateau and gardens created for the
Sun-King Louis XIV. Later today arrive in Paris for

deposits; December 9, 2009 – March 29, 2010

or after – No refund.

to make any date or itinerary changes. If you are

the best rates and schedule, but no later than

LATE BOOKINGS: Passengers registering within
thirty days of tour departure will be charged a

Travel insurance is included as an option with the
initial tour deposit and is highly recommended.
For residents of the U.S., GTD offers a competitive policy from an independent company. By
purchasing insurance at the time the tour
deposit is made, you can be covered for events
that may cause you to cancel or interrupt your
trip, i.e., pre-existing medical conditions (certain
restrictions apply). If you decline travel insurance
at the time of reservation, you may purchase it
within 14 days with the pre-existing conditions
waiver or you may purchase it later without the
pre-existing conditions waiver. You may contact
