SUPERIOR COURT OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO, 303 West Third Street, 4th Floor San Bernardino, Ca 92415-0302 www.sb-court.org Company have partnered up with several local bars to ensure revelers have a fun and safe holiday season by offering free or reduced-fare cab rides home. Responsible Redlands Safe Rides Home--a pilot program spearheaded by Hangar 24 founder Ben Cook--runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly through the morning of New Year’s Day. To participate in the safe rides home program, patrons at participating bars and restaurants in Redlands must ask a restaurant or bar staff for a “Responisble Redlands Cab.” Staff will then call the cab company for the patron. The first four miles will be provided free of charge and the rider is responsible for mileage after. Rides will be provided only to a home, not another bar or establishment. The aim of the pilot program is to not only ensure the public is responsible by not drinking and driving, but also aims at creating a trend in taking cabs to get home safely after a night at local bars. “Hopefully this sparks a movement. It’s a completely safe way to get home when you’re out,” said Robert Bledsoe, Hangar 24 director of marketing. “A cab is a couple bucks. The cost in human lives is invaluable.” The program is being funded by a $5 donation for every ride from Hangar 24 and another $5 from the participating bar or restaurant. In addition, one of the four miles will be donated by The Redlands Cab Company, accord- ing to Hangar 24. Participating bars and restaurants include: Romano's, Eureka Burger, Royal Falconer, The Boiler Room, Gourmet Pizza Kitchen, Redlands Underground, Flamingo, Lounge 22, and the Hangar 24 Tasting Room. Plans to replicate the program during other holidays are in the works, Bledsoe said. The Redlands pilot program launched Dec. 20 in conjunction with the brewery’s unveiling of its first-ever soda creations--Orange Cream and Root Beer. The goal in creating the sodas was to provide a non-alcoholic option for designated drivers, Bledsoe said. Hangar’s new sodas are brewed in house and made with 100 percent pure cane sugar. They contain no high-fructose corn syrup and are caffeine-free. The sodas can be purchased for $1 for a 12 ounce glass only at the Hangar 24 Tasting Room. Hangar 24 Craft Brewery is located at 1710 Sessums Drive in Redlands. To learn more about Responisble Redlands Safe Rides Homes or the brewery’s new sodas, visit hangar24brewery.com.
