LV 124 compatibility and high-resolution analysis
If you are looking for a way to comply with the electrical test requirements of the
LV 124 automotive norm, or if you simply need to analyze your signal profiles using a
high-resolution, then the Tube Analyzer Pro is your tool of choice.
Sampling with a rate of up to 100 kHz, the Tube Analyzer can detect very short and sporadic
errors – continuously monitoring 64 analog and 32 PWM channels in parallel -, logging the
desired signals into standard TDMS files (s. below). Combined with the fast and comprehensive Tube Analyzer Log Viewer and with the intuitive Tube Analyzer TestRun Generator,
the Tube Analyzer Pro Package is the tool with which you will test your signals reliably and
more accurately than ever.
Being easily integrable in your existing Test Setup, the Tube Analyzer is a ready-to-use measuring component that brings you faster to your desired test results.
Tube Analyzer optimizes your LV 124 tests through:
· Reliable detection and innovative analysis of very short sporadic errors
· Driftless and synchronous monitoring of all analog and PWM inputs
· Complete tool chain, including TestRun Generator and Log Viewer
· Remote control of the user interface
· Support of the LV 124 norm requirements
Tube Analyzer reduces your total cost of ownership through:
· Immediate integration in the National Instruments™ world
· Worldwide hardware component support by National Instruments™ Partners
· Modular and scalable software components
· Continuous software maintenance
· Based and developed on industry standards NI LabVIEW
LV 124
In recent years, the automotive industry was faced with technical challenges that had to
comply with various industry norms. One of the most important norms is the LV 124, which
was drawn up by the representatives of automobile manufacturers like Audi AG, BMW AG,
Volkswagen AG, Porsche AG and so on. LV 124 describes various electrical tests and their
requirements (s. examples below).
LV 124 Test requirements, e.g. Pin
interruption, jump start, long-term
overvoltages etc.
Having long-time partnerships with big companies in the automotive industry,
WKS Informatik noticed these trends and also the difficulties these companies have in order
to comply with all these norms and developed the Tube Analyzer as the first tool supporting
all those in need of these compliances.
The Tube Analyzer supports these measurement requirements, by being able to detect short
and sporadic errors with an accuracy of up to 10us. This kind of high-resolution is also
best-suited for the aerospace and aviation industry, as well as for ECU development.
Adaptive logging and benefits
In order to configurate the measurement, the interesting signals are divided into Tubes.
A Tube defines the limits and the time interval, during which the limit analysis of the
measured signal is performed. If the signal is not within the defined limits, the data will be
logged with a rate of up to 100 kHz (including pre- and posttrigger), otherwise with a
configurable lower rate.
This way only the relevant time intervals will be logged. This principle is called Adaptive
Logging and insures that you get only the relevant data with a high accuracy, reducing the
amount of irrelevant information and therefore the time you spend analyzing the measurement results.
The PWM signal components (Amplitude, Period and Duty Cycle) are analyzed independently, thus offering you detailed and more precise information of the PWM data.
The Workflow
The Tube Analyzer Pro is a package helping to make your error analysis easier and faster
by using our fast and comprehensive TDMS Log Viewer, as well as our Test Run generator,
which helps you create reliable measurement configurations. Third Tube Analyzer itself,
which does the limit violation analysis. This workflow can be represented as follows:
TESTRUN
GENERATOR

LOG VIEWER

Test Setup Integration
The Tube Analyzer comes as an easily integrable measurement component. If you already
have a test setup system, WKS Informatik’s Tube Analyzer offers a Remote Control interface,
through which you can perform the measurements from your own Host PC, and most
importantly a hardware synchronization interface, in order to insure a full signal coordination throughout your system (s. example below).
Client integration
The Tube Analyzer has been integrated already in a complex testing system of a German DAX
company. The product’s important features, like hardware synchronization and
remote control, made the integration an easy process. They also guaranteed that the client
was free and not conditioned by the Tube Analyzer in his own system development.
The simple and standard interfaces, as well as the compact size of the Tube Analyzer speak
for the product’s integration capabilities into various systems.
Below you can see how the Tube Analyzer was actually integrated.
Modular test setup vs. Oscilloscope
The Tube Analyzer was created based on a long experience of automated testing, which
showed that the oscilloscope-based solutions have big disadvantages compared to the
Tube Analyzer-based ones, as shown in the table below:
Automated testing – the Tube Analyzer can be
integrated into automated test sequences and is
controlled over a defined remote interface
Manual testing
Many signals in parallel – the number of channels
can be set up according to testing needs (between 8 and 96 pins per Tube Analyzer); different
Tube Analyzer versions can be exchanged
without influencing the rest of the test setup;
also, several Tube Analyzer versions can be run in
parallel.
Limited number of channels –
between 2 and 4
Reproducible - automated testing and Tube Analyzer limit testing guarantee reproducible tests
Precise error detection- all errors which occur
during the measurement are detected and
logged in TDMS format
Uncertain error detection – only the first
error is detected (triggered) and results
are not logged
Precise analysis – the Tube Analyzer tools allow a
simple and precise analysis of the measurement
data
Imprecise analysis – visual analysis prone
to human failure
Reduced testing times & costs
High testing times & costs
Current developments
Following the client-oriented approach, WKS Informatik is constantly trying to meet your
needs and developed a whole new series of Tube Analyzer. Each product comes to fulfill all

TestStand Architect certification, WKS Informatik focuses on customer success, providing
innovative and cost-efficient solutions for industries like Aerospace, Automotive and RF/
Communications, complying with the most challenging software and hardware requirements.
The winner of the first Technical Innovation Award in Germany, RTStand, was created in
order to help our customers achieve better and faster industrial testing results at optimal
cost and is a customizable HIL test and simulation platform, supporting critical tests during
development, validation and production processes of electrical and electronic components.
We provide turnkey solutions for automotive electrical tests using our LV124-related
(ISO16750,VW 80000,BMW GS95024-2-1) products: RTStand, TubeAnalyzer and Ultra-Fast
Interrupter.
Ronald Kaempf, CEO and the first Certified TestStand
Architect in Germany, has the following view on the future of
Test Bench systems: “It all comes to solutions. It is everywhere
obvious how innovative companies strive to reduce the
testing costs for their components. I think this is only possible
to achieve through complete solutions based on standard
components or by combining partial solutions based on the
same standard components. In this direction goes our
strategic focus, here by WKS Informatik.“
