Measurement conditions
The measurements were performed in a temperature stabilized laboratory with the temperature
25°C±2°C. The lamps were connected to AC voltage of 230V±0,5 V. Each lamp was
connected in series with suitable magnetic ballasts.
The spectral irradiance was measured with an Optronic spectroradiometer 756 calibrated with
a spectral irradiance standard lamp. The detector is a small integrating sphere having a good
cosφ-adaption. Bandwidth 1 nm. Wavelength step 1 nm.
Measurement accuracy
Spectral irradiance: ±10 % of measured value.
Distance: ±0,1 % of measured value.
Voltage: ±0,3 VAC.
Electrical Power: ±5 % of measured value.
The reported expanded uncertainty of measurement is stated as the standard uncertainty of
measurement multiplied by the coverage factor k = 2, which for a normal distribution
corresponds to a coverage probability of approximately 95 %. The standard uncertainty of
measurement has been determined in accordance with EAL Publication EA-04/2.
Traceability
The unit for spectral irradiance is realized and maintained using a group of spectral irradiance
standard lamps with traceability to HUT, Finland and NIST, USA.
Examination method
All lamps have been aged for 5 hours before the examination.
The lamps are positioned horizontally (see photo in annex). The measurement is made in the
middle of the tube at a distance of 250 mm. Detector area is 79 mm2. Each tube is stabilized
(within 1%) for at least 10 minutes before measurement.
Result and calculations
The spectral irradiance from each lamp is presented in diagram 1-9 in appendix 1. The
electrical parameters and the calculated UV-code are presented in table in appendix 2.
