Effective 10 minute treatment with excellent patient comfort Nd:YAG treatment of onychomycosis Fitzpatrick Skin Type 1-6 can all be treated. Sub-millisecond pulse The exact mechanism of nail fungus treatment is not totally known. Heating the fungus is one major factor, but introducing a sub-millisecond pulse adds a “photo-acoustic” effect to the treatment, weakening the cell structure of the fungus. New opportunity There is a huge and growing base of patients who need a definitive onychomycosis treatment. A treatment that is more effective than topical solutions and at least as effective as systemic antifungals, but without the long-term commitment, and especially without the risk of side effects associated with systemic drugs. Ellipse has developed the MultiFlex+ Nd:YAG laser, already an indispensable tool for vascular treatments, to treat onychomycosis rapidly, effectively and with high patient comfort. 10 toes in 10 minutes Ellipse MultiFlex+ uses a painting technique to apply several shots per second, across the whole nail, cuticle and nail folds. There is no need to pause during treatment of an individual nail. A 4 mm spot maximizes efficiency and patient comfort. Painfree treatment Ellipse SoftCool® cooling system sends a continuous jet of cool air across the treatment area. This increases patient comfort, while still allowing the nail-bed to reach the desired temperature. While it is possible to adjust energy, this is not normally necessary regardless of the skin type of the patient, and patients of Pass counter To obtain maximum treatment effect, five passes across the nail including the nail folds are recommended. Uniquely, Ellipse onychomycosis treatments offer a pass counter, to notify you of the number of completed passes, and when the treatment is concluded. This facility is ideal when working in a busy enviroment where keeping track of passes is difficult. The tip of the Nd:YAG is exchanged by a simple one click operation for easy cleaning. Hygienic design Ellipse Nd:YAG has three interchangeable tips, to allow easy treatment of vascular problems, even in difficult locations. To avoid any risk of contamination, changing the circular tip between onychomycosis patients, to allow for disinfection, is a twosecond operation. “I find the Ellipse MultiFlex+ a true work horse in my daily work. Practically no matter which vascular lesion I am treating the MultiFlex+ becomes my preferred choice because of its wide application range, excellent ergonomics and efficient cooling system. With the addition of the onychomycosis application I can add a new treatment in my clinic which I was previously unable to offer.” Prof. Agneta Troilius, Scanstadkliniken, Malmö, Sweden Sub-millisecond modality ensures effective clearance The efficacy of drugs without side effects 1ONY8441-A01 The treatment Typically a course of 3 treatment sessions is necessary, with one month intervals for finger nails, and two months for toenails. Like any other treatment of nail fungus, Ellipse onychomycosis treatment is a treatment, not a cure. It deals with the problem that exists, and does not give immunity against infection at some future time. Treatment is done using a “painting” technique. This involves firing several shots per second while moving the aiming beam in a 2mm X 2mm grid pattern across the entire area. The tip should lightly touch the nail during treatment. Treatment results are not immediate, but following a treatment session new nail growth should be clear of fungus. Because nails grow so slowly, the full results may not be apparent for a year. The pictures opposite clearly show the area of new nail growth 4 months after 3 treatments with 2 month intervals. Simply input the patient skin type and degree of suntan, and press to accept. Treatment can begin immediately after cool air is introduced to the area. CE-cleared The MultiFlex+ Nd:YAG applicator is CE-cleared for treatment of onychomycosis, leg veins, leg and facial telangiectasias, facial reticular veins, resistant port wine stains and venous lakes (FDA clearance is pending).
