Frank Putnam & Mo, Glenn Brostedt, Alan Burgard and I spent the weekend sailing the Lasers at Kinnikinick Lake, an
out-of-the-way picturesque
f. We joined the Arizona Yacht Club
Lake Pleasant Sailing Club for the AYC
. The
was nine miles
into the back country on a dirt road. The drive passed through large open meadows filled with wildflowers and sweeping
views of the San Francisco Peaks. The lake located below the camp in pinyon & Juniper flora filled a large open meadow.
The 10/12 knot breeze with puffs offered a great afternoon of sailing with long runs downwind on fast plane. The water
temperature was in the high 70’s which was good as we all had a swim or two. The evening was spent around a large
campfire, great fun, and the night sleeping under the stars with the Perseid meteor shower providing the show and, a four
a.m. wake up call courtesy of a pack of Coyotes. Glenn provided the hot, strong coffee and and a cool morning was spent
watching the sun hit the tops of the Ponderosa pines and listening to the forest wake up. On the return drive we took the
Stoneman Lake Road to I-17. A 19 mile primitive road which, prior to dropping into the Verde Valley, ran along the edge of
the rim providing a a great view of the red cliffs of Sedona. Next year if possible, all attendees agreed, five days should be
the minimum stay to walk, hike and sail this beautiful country.

What a wonderful time we had at the Loft
Party. Many Many thanks go to Lisa Rundle
and Lou Sellyei. I can not believe they let the
TSC to pillage and plunder their lovely home.
What was your favorite spot? My was the
bathtub. What a great idea to put all those
beverages in the bathtub. How about those
great sounds of John Minnella and Rich
Watson. Also kudos to Deana, Ned, Glenn
and all those who help make that night a
special night.
The new web site is up and running. Please
take at look at it and let Garry (G3) and I know
what you like or do not like. Looking to what is ahead.
The annual fall picnic is Sept 11. Glenn Has
got everything under control. Looking forward
to a great day of sailing, story telling not to

Fall Cruise, 2011
Plans are in process for the fall cruise. The cruise starts Monday, November 7, 2011 from San Carlos. We are
still trying to formalize the destination. Currently, we are considering Topolobampo -- 180NM southeast of San
Carlos on the Mainland. We also are looking at the Loreto area and the possibility of combining both
Topolobampo and Loreto.
The combined cruise would head down the mainland coast to Topolobampo, a large city with lots of amenities.
While in Topolobampo, we may take a 2-day bus tour of Copper Canyon -- one of the must-see sights of the
area. The weather pattern in November is such that to return to San Carlos, you would sail across to the Loreto
area and then back to San Carlos. Cruisers with enough time can also sightsee around Loreto. A combined
cruise would probably last 10-12 days, depending on weather.
The plans are tentative, so watch the website and Windbreaker for updates. If you have any questions, contact
Loretta at lpeto@petocpas.com or 520-881-6568.
