The coast is also very attractive for amateur
wind and kite surfers. Enthusiasts for these sports
require wind and waves, and need only a board
to fly and sail and appreciate the coastal scenery.
Amateurs in these sports can be found in practically every seaside resort, and on every large inland
lake (Lake Resko Przymorskie, Lake Jamno and
Lake Bukowo). Good conditions can be found in a
number of places which are often associated with
surfing. Lake Resko Przymorskie is very popular
with wind and kite surfers on account of the excellent conditions to be found near the boat houses
in Dźwirzyno. Surfers willingly travel to Darłówko,
Grzybowo, Dąbki, Jarosławiec, Dźwirzyno and
Mrzeżyno. Three locations with ideal wave conditions are:
6
• The Warszów district of Świnoujście – one of the
best locations in Poland for easterly winds, together
with certain locations in Pucka Bay and along the
Hel peninsula,
• Międzyzdroje – a fantastic location for north-easterly winds,
• Międzywodzie – a great choice for surfing in westerly winds.
Wreck-diving expeditions in the Baltic Sea have
become very popular in recent years. Cruises for
wreck explorers are organized in practically every
port in the region. Scores of wrecks which sank
hundreds of years ago, during the Second World
War, and even recently, lie scattered along the
coast between Świnoujście and Darłowo
Kayakers frequently finish their journeys along
the Rivers Parsęta and Rega in the seaports of
Kołobrzeg and Mrzeżyno. It should also be stated that excellent conditions for kayaking can be
found in lakes close to the sea, such as Lake Kopań,
Bukowo, Jamno and Resko Przymorskie, as well as
the channels of the Dziwna and in Wrzosowska
Bay. A further area that can be recommended to
kayakers is the maze of channels around the islets
in the Wsteczna Delta Świny.
There is a wide choice for those wishing to go
on a pleasure cruise. Świnoujście has the widest
choice available in the whole of Poland. As well as
being able to travel by hydrofoil to Szczecin, or by
ferry to Bornholm, Copenhagen and Ystad, it is also
possible to take a pleasure cruise to the German resorts of Ahlbeck, Bansin and Heringsdorf. The company ‘Kołobrzeg Passenger Service’ also offers excursions to Bornholm, in their modern catamaran
‘Jantar’, which can carry almost three hundred passengers. The pleasure cruisers ‘Korsarz’’, Roza’ and
‘Weneda’, based in Dziwnów, are also popular with
tourists. Those wishing to set sail from Kamień Pomorski can do so in the beautiful ‘Victoria’. Tourists
taking a break in Mielno, Unieście and Łazy have
the chance to sail across Lake Jamno to Koszalin in
the pleasure cruiser ‘Koszałek’.
The western coast is also a paradise for fishermen. In recent years, cod-fishing boat trips, organ-
