Executive Report
Take a Moment to Do Something Special for You, Too!
by Char Glocke, Association Executive
The Holidays are fast approaching. Take a deep breath and
take time to enjoy through all the chaos that will be around us!
Our Holiday Committee is in the planning mode for our Holiday Party. Please watch the website, Facebook and email for
further details.
Have you invested in RPAC? Our goal was $13,000 and as to
this date, we have collected $15,385. A huge thank you to all
the members that have made their investment. You still have
an opportunity! When paying your dues, I encourage you to
include the $35 RPAC investment with your payment. Each member benefits from
the successful passing of legislation that affects our business. Each member should
make an investment!
Dues renewal deadline is on the horizon! Remember to pay by 5:00 p.m. on December 1 or have your payment postmarked on the 1st to avoid paying the late fee. If for
some reason you did not receive an invoice, please call Ashlee at 608-785-7744.
With our “to do lists” growing, take a moment to do something special for you, too!
Have a good month!

RPAC
Your Best Investment in Real Estate
Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC)
has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across
the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS® raise
and spend money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests. The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by
REALTORS®. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to the political process. RPAC doesn’t buy votes.
RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to
their profession and livelihood.

BUILDING A
NATION OF NEIGHBORS
“Would you live here?”
Key Points
•
Homebuyers often ask brokers and sales associates for their opinions regarding their choice among various
homes.
•
The Fair Housing Act prohibits attempts to influence the selection of housing on the basis of race, color, religion,
sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.
Areas of Liability
•
If you suggest that race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin
should be a factor in the homebuyer’s housing choice, you could be charged with
discrimination.
Actions to Take
•
Give your honest opinion, whether it’s positive or negative, to this question and give a
reason for your opinion.
•
Never mention or volunteer information related to the racial, religious, or ethnic makeup of the area.
Suggested Response
•
“Yes, I would. The area is well-maintained and that particular house is very nicely located. It’s very convenient
to the commuter trains and shopping and the elementary school is only a few blocks away.”
•
“No, I wouldn’t because the house is too small for our teenager’s activities.”

Rather than use your personal cell phone or
home phone number—which can be “reverse
searched” on the Internet to find your home
address—consider using a toll-free number, which
cannot be tracked. You can have calls to this
number automatically forwarded to any phone.
Keep an eye out for tampering
with your bills and bank accounts.
Open your credit card bills and bank statements
right away. Check for any unauthorized charges
or withdrawals and report them immediately.
Call if bills don’t arrive on time. It may mean that
someone has changed contact information to
hide fraudulent charges
Prevent identity theft.
Contact the fraud department of any of the
three consumer reporting companies— Equifax,
Experian and Trans Union—to place a fraud alert
on your credit report. The fraud alert automatically lets credit card companies and other creditors know they must contact you before opening
any new accounts or making any changes to your
existing accounts.

RPAC Breakfast Highlights
The RPAC “Appreciation Breakfast” was held at Cedar Creek recently! All members that
invested $100 and over were invited to this “Appreciation Breakfast.” Jerilyn Dinsmoor
from La Crosse Promise gave a summary of what exactly La Crosse Promise is and Joe
Murray gave an overview of legislation that is pending in the State Legislature. Great
program and networking. Please join this group of investors. We would love to see you
at this “Appreciation Breakfast” next year.
