Relax and recharge your soul in the peaceful surroundings of the Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge. Tour includes: Four full days of instruction, photography and taking in all the area has to offer. Small group size - limited to 6 people. Access to the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary/ Inlet Conservancies. Professional, knowledgeable and experienced guides. Learning will start when you arrive and will not end until you leave! Your trip begins in the City of Rainbows, Prince Rupert, BC. Day 1 Float plane ride through the coast mountains and over the inlets and fiords to the Khutzeymateen. Make sure your camera is ready! Meet your crew, settle in, orientation and safety debrief. Our facilities are charmingly rustic and very comfortable. The lodge offers 6 private bed rooms, two shared washrooms, shower, modern kitchen, and a spacious living and dining room area. The lodge has a wood fired sauna, barbeque, out door fire pit, and lots of room to move and stretch out. We do have wireless internet but encourage all guests to turn off access to the outside world and be at peace with the wilderness and bears. We offer you quality beds and bedding to ensure a comfortable nights sleep. Our lodge is sits on a large floating structure and is being completely rebuilt this winter. The lodge is a timber frame design with a wood stove for the cool nights. Our goal is to provide you with a comfortable stay. We combined northwest coast creativity with local building materials and created a unique, charming, and simple lodge. Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge is the only permitted lodge within the Khutzeymateen Protected Area. Fall asleep to the cry of an eagle and the splash of a seal while indulging in the comfort of a comfortable bed under a warm duvet. Michael Bednar About Us Jamie Hahn is the founder of Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge Ltd. and will be your guide for the tour. In his 22 year career working as a park manager/ ranger for BC Parks, Jamie spent 15 years managing and exploring the Khutzeymateen Protected Area. Jamie has developed a strong connection to the area and deeply respects working in the Territory of the Gitsi'is tribe. Jamie has also had the opportunity to learn how to view and work with Grizzly Bears from leading experts in Alaska, spending time with both the Department of Fish and Game and the US National Parks Service. Jamie is confident that bear viewing can take place with minimal impact on the bears while allowing for visitors to learn and appreciate the protection and management of these wild places. With 20 years of experience on the North Coast operating patrol vessels, Jamie understands and practices a safety first principle in all activities. Float plane and boat transportation both into and out of the Khutzeymateen. Wilderness– peace-quiet. Use of all lodge equipment and amenities. What’s Not Included? Your transportation to Prince Rupert, BC. Expenses incurred due to weather or other delayed departures. Any gratuities for the crew (optional but appreciated). All trips require a minimum 50% deposit due at the time of your booking. Final balance is due 120 days prior to your trip date. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing.
