The JAG Center for Professional development intends to conduct a 4 -Day International
Seminar-Workshop on Campus Journalism of the 21st Century on the dates and venue listed
below;
January 21-24,2016 -
DepEd ECOTECH, Cebu City
Relative thereto, I would like to request for your approval and Regional Advisory inviting all
your teachers in your Region.
I.
Theme: Campus Journalism :Local Writing for Global Competence
II.
Objectives:
The conference aims to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the importance of Journalism by expressing it
through different journalistic endeavors and approaches;
2. Sustain advocacy on social consciousness;
3. Provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students interested
in pursuing journalism as a career;
4. Promote responsible journalism and fair and ethical use of social media; and
5. Enhance journalistic competence through lectures, activities, workshops, and
materials that will equip the campus journalist of relevant skills, techniques
and information as they prepare for intrascholastic journalism-related
activities like seminars, workshops and competitions.
III.
Target Participants: Grade 3-10 pupils/students ,Preschool, Grade 1-10 teachers,
school heads, English Coordinators, supervisors, education students and
professors/instructors teaching journalism
IV.
Registration Fee: P5,000.00 for Teachers/Coaches and P3,000.00 for students to
cover seminar fee, kit materials, one (1) lunch and 2 snacks per day. Interested

the JAG Center for Professional Development for the support and participation of all concerned.
This activity will be attended by faculty and students involved in campus journalism programs of
higher education institutions.
Participation of officials, employees and students from private higher education institutions
(HEIs) shall be VOLUNTARY. Officials and employees of State and Local Universities and Colleges
(SUCs and LUCs) who will participate in this activity should obtain prior approval from the

education at the Philippine Science High School. Araullo graduated with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Applied Physics from the University of the Philippines (Diliman
Campus).t1lThere he became a member of the League of Filipino Students (LFS), as
well as the chairperson of the Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic
Rights - UP (STAND-UP). He also won as Councilor in the UP Diliman University
Student Council elections of 2003, garnering the highest number of votes. He ran as the
student council Chairperson the next year, but lost by a few hundred votes

During his childhood years, Atom was part of Probe Productions's 5 and Up. He also
used to host the Studio 23 morning show Breakfast, The National Quiz Bee, and Probe

4 Photo coverage of the City Mayors daily activities and QC government
programs, projects and services. Published four (4) coffeetable books namely;
EPWMD's -QC Clean Up, QC Council History and Legacy, Liwasan: Parks &
Monument of QC, and Pamana; Milestones in Infrastructure under the
Belmonte Administration, all were QC government initiated book project.
Recently, the Business Mirror published a photobook entitled "The Human
Tide of History" my compilation of photographs which I took from 1983-1986.
It was launched last February 26,2011 in celebration of the 25th year of
the EDSA Revolution, former President Fidel V. Ramos
graced the occasion,

I do photo documentation, of sceneries and historical spots and eventually
producing visual materials such as brochures, book, audio visual photo production
and arranged photo exhibit. Last year I mounted a photo exhibit entitled " Sa Wakas..
a photo essay featuring glimpses of human drama, flying excitement and emotions
captured before and after the mass wedding rituals, in celebration of the cultural

As a writer and journalist for 15 years, he has written various features, critical reviews, press releases and
the like for a number of publication outfits like Cruising #GoingPlaces Magazine, Experience Travel &
Living Magazine, PTS (Pinoy Tayo Saanman), Art Manila Quarterly, The Daily Tribune, The Manila
Bulletin, and many others. He has written on topics like traveling, theater, film, entertainment, fine arts,
literature and opinion and has interviewed various personalities on a variety of topics. Likewise, he also
wrote articles on military science, Philippine politics and military history as writer/editor for the
Presidential Security Group (PSG). He has also written television scripts for various shows for the GMA
News and Public Affairs Department like Sunnyville and Mga Kuwentong Pambata ni Rizal (GMA
News TV Special).
He is currently executive editor of Cruising #GoingPlaces Magazine, the monthly travel magazine of the
Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation.
As a public relations practitioner, he has written and performed various public relations copy for Moist
Communicates, a public relations and graphics services company, where he has written press releases for
clients like First Pacific Leadership Academy (FPLA, formerly MMLDQ, PLDT-Smart Foundation, Ginebra
San Miguel Inc., Cravings Group of Companies (Center for Culinary Arts Manila, Asian School for the
Hospitality Arts), Pancake House Group, ABS-CBN Bayan Academy for Social Transformation and the
Quezon City Government Public Affairs and Information Services Office (QC-PAISO); and for Corporate
Image Dimensions (CID) Communications, an established advertising and public relations outfit, on

As a creative writer, he has written poems, stories, and essays published in various literary anthologies,
journals and magazines like the Philippines Free Press, Sunday Inquirer Magazine, Starweek
Magazine, the Likhaan Book of Poetry and Short Stories Series, and various university journals and
independent publications. He has won the Don Carlos Palanca Awards (1998, 2000, 2003, 2012),
Gintong Aklat Awards (2000), PBBY Salanga Writers Prize (1997, 1999, 2009), IBBY Honour List
Diploma (2004) and the Talaang Ginto (1997,1999) for his poems in English and Filipino. He has been

As an English as a Second Language (ESL) Educator for more than 5 years, he taught over 100 Korean,
