INVITATION AND REGISTRATION
Dear VVWII Submarine Veterans, Submarine Service Veterans, Family and Friends,
On behalf of the Commanding Officer of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, we are extremely
pleased to provide this invitation to the 2015 World War II Memorial Ceremony on Friday, 6 November
2015. We are also providing you the registration forms for the entire week's work of events which will
begin on Wednesday , November 4th and end on Sunday, the 8th of November. This year as is custom ,
the Memorial Service itself is on Friday morning November 6th at 10:00 am at the Submarine Veterans of
VVWII Pavilion onboard Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in front of the TRIDENT TRAINING FACILITY.
You will find other details about the week on the enclosed registration forms which are being sent on
behalf of the USSVI Trident Base, the Museum and in partnership with the Kings Bay Naval Base.
This is a special year, as we commemorate the 70 th Anniversary of the end of VVWII in 2015. I am
pleased to announce that VADM AI Konetzni (USN-Ret.) has accepted the invitation of CAPT James
Jenks, the Kings Bay Base Commanding Officer and host of the Ceremony, to be our Principal Guest
Speaker for this year's Memorial. We have a few special additional activities planned this year for you
along with our usual events and meals, one being the 2015 USS DANIEL BOONE (SSBN 629) Reunion
being held at the same time in our area which the Museum is assisting with . Reunion attendees will be
joining us for the Bar-B-Que and Memorial Ceremony and other activities.
At the VVWII Memorial in November, the Museum will kick off 6 months of celebratory activities to
celebrate our 20 th Anniversary which will be on 30 March 2016. For those of you who have been
steadfast supporters of the Museum , we are extremely grateful and thank you for that support as we
reach this milestone. Most of you renewed or joined as Members of the Museum again last year, and for
that we THANK YOU! If you are not a member as yet, we hope you will consider joining as we have set
a goal of 2000 Members by March 2016 to commemorate our 20 th Year. If you would like to purchase a
Gift Membership for a family member or friend , we would be happy to do that as well and will send a Gift
Card to your designated person(s) announcing your gift to them .
Last year, thanks also to your collective generosity, we funded two $750. College Scholarships.
One in partnership with USSVI in honor of long-time Museum Manager John Crouse who passed away
in 2010, and one through the Museum itself in honor of longtime Board of Directors Member Penny Hahn
who passed away in January 2014. In May 2015, Penny's Scholarship was awarded locally to Benjamin
Siclare , the son of a retired Naval Officer and his wife here in St. Marys.
On the next page are some very important items to mention to you so PLEASE take a few
moments to review them . We have set a deadline for Registrations to be submitted and for Sub Tours to
be scheduled . Due to security requirements , we need time to process those requests, so PLEASE pay
attention to those dates.
We wish you all safe travels and look forward to welcoming you back to our corner of this great
country! Please come hungry for some great Bar-B-Que, Breakfast and Lunch at the Base Galley, Steak
at the Goat Locker and Low Country Boil with the Eagles. We look forward to sharing lots of sea stories
and hosting a few beers together!! If we can be of assistance to you in any way before or after you

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:
FRIDAY, 23 OCTOBER 2015
BOAT TOURS: REMEMBER - TOURS are NOT GUARANTEED! Operations at the base may force
the cancellation of some or all of our tours, as has happened in the past. The Base and Group TEN are
most generous to us with these tours , and we have to be understanding of the mission and operational
needs of our force . Please keep that in mind. A special security form will need to be filed out by
EVERYONE who requests a boat tour. Please submit your registration/tour requests ASAP so we can
get you the paperwork you need to fill out for us. If you are Retired NAVY/MILITARY and have an 10
Card , you still MUST fill out one of these forms. SO my message to you is, if you request a tour, and you
do NOT fill out and submit the form we will send to you , do not expect to be on the list to tour a
submarine in l\Iovember. PLEASE PLEASE pay attention to this . Due to all the incidents occurring in our
nation , and the increased security concerns/requirements at the base, this is a REQUIRMENT to allow
us to continue to host tours during our Annual Veterans lVIemorial. It creates a lot more work for us at the
Museum, which we are certainly willing and able to do, but we need your support to make it happen
smoothly. THANK YOU in advance for paying attention to this and helping us out, Natalie (who has to do
most of the work!) and I GREATLY appreciate it!
THURSDAY MORNING CMC/COB's BREAKFAST: We are changing the traditional Thursday morning
breakfast at the Galley. It will be hosted by and with the CMC's and COB's from the various Commands
on base. Same time , same location, just different hosts.
BASE GALLEY CO's LUNCHEON: Those of you who were with us last year know that we had a
special lunch hosted by the Base Commanding Officer following the Ceremony at Pirate's Cove, the
Base Galley. The base is doing that again for us this year, and we are working to make the process a
little smoother. We are having you sign up if you want to go to lunch, you will be given a ticket in your
packet and instructions at the end of the ceremony on how to proceed , so that we do not have such a
long line and can get everyone through . NOTE: If you schedule a Boat Tour for Friday afternoon , we will
try to get you in the first wave to eat, BUT, it is your responsibility to be on the bus in front of the galley at
the correct time. Last year we had a few folks in the galley eating, and the bus left without them. BE
WARNED, if is not our fault if you miss the bus!
EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION: Last year we had two of our guests who had to be
transported to the Camden Medical Center, one by ambulance the other by base personnel. Due to our
oversight, we did not have next of kin or an emergency contact listed on the registration form. It is there
this year, please fill that out so we know who to reach and how if we should need to . THANK YOU!

2015 WWII Memorial Submarine Tour Information
As part of the 2015 WWII Submarine Veterans Memorial, 3 submarine tours have been scheduled
for Thursday and Friday, November 5 th and 6th . Please place #'s 1 thru 3 in order of your preference for
the tour time you would like to go on in the section below and we will do our best to accommodate your
time slot request. Children must be 10 years of age to go on a submarine tour.
If you plan on requesting a tour on Thursday especially in the am, please be sure you arrive in
Camden County on Wednesday allowing you enough time to pick up your Registration Packets at the
Museum during the day or at the Host Hotel in the evening, which will have your name tags and
instructions of when and where to be at for your tour on Thursday.

Everyone who requests a tour will be mailed or emailed a form to be filed out and submitted to
the Museum which will collect them and deliver them to the Base Security Folks PRIOR to your arrival, for
processing. This is a base requirement, and failure to complete and submit these forms will result in an
individual NOT being on a tour list or being able to get through lower base security to tour a submarine.

We are proud to announce a Commemorative Coin honoring the 20 th Anniversary of the
Museum which will be celebrated on 30 March 2016. We will kick off a 6 month celebration at the
WWII Memorial Week in November and finish with a Formal Ceremony at the Waterfront Park in
downtown St. Marys across the street from the Museum on 02 April 2016.
We have commissioned a limited edition commemorative coin to mark this milestone as part of
the celebration. They are serialized from 1 to 500. If you would like to pre-order a coin to be picked up
when you attend the Memorial, please fill out the form below and include a separate check for the
amount made payable to the ST MARYS SUBMARINE MUSEUM with 20 th Anniv Coin in the Memo line.
