Imagine No Malaria
in the Skeeter Beater 5k!
First Church staff and family participated in the Skeeter
Beater 5K Run/Walk on Wednesday morning and took
home the top prizes! Austin Hubbard came in first place in
the running division and the Hankins-Hull family swept the
walking division: Evan 1st, Donna 2nd, and Liam 3rd. This
was a wonderful event during Annual Conference, and we
had a blast! A special thank you to Jessica Szenher and Claire
Martin for coordinating fruit and water for all race participants
on behalf of FUMC. The Skeeter Beater raised funds for Imagine No Malaria, an extraordinary effort of the people of The United
Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a
mother. Following is a list of participants from First Church: Lesley Andrews, Jonathan Caudle, JaKhari Chatman, John Churchwell,
Christopher Cone, Chris Cooper, Kathy Cooper, Anthony Falkowski, Donna Hankins-Hull, Evan Hankins-Hull, Jonathan HankinsHull, Liam Hankins Hull, Austin Hubbard, Kassandra Johnson, Kristine King, Victoria King, Katherine Lu, Belinda Woods, and Don
Woods.

Finding teachers for the summer months can prove to be
a challenge. In searching for just the right approach to our
children’s summer Sunday classes, we have landed upon an
intergenerational idea that we hope will provide an opportunity
for a deeper connection between our children, youth and adults.
Specifically we’d love to find 5 more people to be our guest for
only ONE Sunday morning in July or August 9:45 – 10:45 am. This
can be any age: adult, older youth, or even a couple. Each guest is
invited to share one of their favorite hobbies or interests with our
children. They can bring examples, photographs, power points,
etc. to share their interests. If you are willing to be one of the
volunteers, please let Pam know at psnider@fumclr.org.

Honor Our Past, Commit to Our Future From
Commitment to Fulfillment and Action
Father’s Day Is June 16th—
As the commitment phase of our Capital Campaign draws to a close, many
people deserve a great big thank you for all they have done. From the
steering committee to the building committee to the 150+ volunteers
who have contributed their time and talent, thank you! To the incredible
campaign chairs, thank you! To the over 180 households who have
committed to support the campaign financially and to the many others
who will join in as they are able, thank you!
Do you need a gift idea that dad will love? How about another
tie? Maybe not. What about one more grill accessory? He’s
got a thousand. What about honoring him through the capital
campaign? Awesome idea!
Together, we have committed nearly $2.7 million dollars. This is incredible
and something of which to be very proud! Payment of these pledges
according to the timeline committed will be very important during the
fulfillment phase.
And, the best news of all is that we will experience congregation-wide
enjoyment of the improvements to our church facilities. As we confirm
our commitment as an anchor in downtown Little Rock, we remain
faithful in sharing God’s love and are better able to serve our community
and achieve our mission.
Thank You from Mary Jane!
Dear First Church Family,
Thank you so very much for the wonderful picnic celebration on my last
Sunday. I was truly overwhelmed and feel so blessed and grateful to
have shared these past six years with you. Thank you for everything:
for the delicious food, the kind and generous remarks, the laughter, the
gifts, and most of all for your presence. May God’s blessings be with
you. I love you all!

Creation Station needs 20 oz plastic bottles.
Donations for VBS supplies continues with empty bottles, with lids.
Please bring your clean bottles, with lids, to the donation boxes in
the church. We are also looking to borrow two wading pools, a free
standing backyard umbrella and two skate boards. If you have any of
these items that we can borrow for the week of June 17th, please let
me know. Thank you, Donna Hankins-Hull, dhankins@fumclr.org.
Honor Your Dad in a
Unique and Meaningful Way
Our founding fathers (and mothers!) did so much to establish a
financially sound and gorgeous church facility. By contributing to
the capital campaign in honor or memory of the father in your life,
you can let him know he is an important part of both the past and
the future of FUMC. Honor your dad as you “Honor Our Past and
Commit to Our Future”!
MARK YOUR
CALENDARS!
Music.Art.Drama.Dance (M.A.D.D.)

the opening night of the Arkansas Annual conference this year. The
Conference started on Sunday, June 9th at the Statehouse Convention
Center.

Mission on Saturday, June 8th at the
