ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS
Reckless driving on public streets is subject to a hefty fine and even jail time. Likewise, Reckless driving within Park Newport
is subject to immediate termination of a lease, responsibility for early termination fees, and any subsequent liability for injuries
and property damage. I mention this because last week I witnessed a driver using the central garage North and South Driveway
ramps as a speedway between opposite sides of the property around dusk. I could hear the vehicle careening down the south ramp (there are two) closest
to the Administration Building and watched as it barreled without caution across the garage to the North ramp where it screeched to a California stop
before bolting west toward 2900 Bldg. From my vantage point on the first floor of the central garage, I was fortunate to witness this outrageous breech
of good judgment, and I am grateful no one was killed by the offender’s complete disregard for the rules. This kind of reckless endangerment is not only
illegal; it is irresponsible and won’t be tolerated at Park Newport. Thank you for abiding by speed limits and stop signs within the property and for
practicing common courtesy while driving within our borders. It’s not just a request; it’s an expectation and a requirement.

OXFORD MURDERS
PREDATORS
After Oxford logic professor Arthur Seldom (John
Hurt) and his new graduate student Martin (Elijah
Wood) discover a dead woman, they get involved in
trying to solve a string of homicides in which the
killer marked each victim's body with cryptic
mathematical symbols. As the stakes get higher,
Martin's grasp on reality becomes increasingly
tenuous in this thriller based on the award-winning
novel by writer and mathematician Guillermo
Martinez.
Rugged mercenary Royce (Adrien Brody) inherits
command of an elite team of human fighters -including dorky-but-dangerous Edwin (Topher
Grace) and tough-but-beautiful Isabelle (Alice
Braga) -- as they are hunted by a race of ruthless
alien trackers known as Predators. Director Nimród
Antal's sci-fi action explosion, which also stars
Laurence Fishburne and an uzi-toting Danny Trejo,
is a direct sequel to the 1987 blockbuster Predator.
November 9
SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD
CENTURIAN
When dreamy delivery girl Ramona (Mary Elizabeth
Winstead) starts popping up in his life, slacker
musician Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) takes notice.
But to win the love of this rollerblading goddess,
Scott must vanquish all seven of her evil exes in
martial arts battles. Based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's
graphic novels, director Edgar Wright's actionpacked romcom also stars Anna Kendrick, Brandon
Routh and Chris Evans.
In 2nd-century Britain, Roman fighter Quintas Dias
(Michael Fassbender) is the lone survivor of a
Pictish attack on a Roman frontier post. Eager for
revenge, he joins the Ninth Legion -- under General
Virilus (Dominic West) -- and journeys north on a
mission to destroy the Picts. Writer-director Neil
Marshall's rousing sword-and-sandals adventure
also stars Olga Kurylenko as the beautiful Pict
warrior Etain.

THE LAST AIRBENDER
CHARLIE ST. CLOUD
In a world ravaged by the Fire nation's aggression
toward the peaceful Air, Water and Earth nations,
reluctant youth Aang (Noah Ringer) learns that he's
an Avatar -- a rare being who can manipulate all
four elements and restore peace to the planet. Now
Aang must join with his pal Katara (Nicola Peltz)
and other allies to fulfill his destiny. M. Night
Shyamalan directs this live-action adaptation of the
animated series "Avatar: The Last Airbender."
Ben Sherwood's intriguing novel is the basis of this
ghost story about Charlie (Zac Efron), who is
devoted to his brother, Sam, even after Sam's
death. As the caretaker of the cemetery where Sam
is buried, Charlie has lots of time to commune with
the dead. Sam visits frequently to hang out with
Charlie, but when Charlie meets a mysterious
young woman (Amanda Crew), he must decide
whether to move forward or remain trapped in the
past.
November 23
THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
The children of same-sex parents Nic (Annette
Bening) and Jules (Julianne Moore), Joni (Mia
Wasikowska) and Laser (Josh Hutcherson) become
curious about the identity of their sperm-donor dad
(Mark Ruffalo) and set out to make him part of their
family unit, with frequently comical results. With his
arrival, the household dynamics quickly become
complicated, and nobody's quite sure where or how
he fits in, if at all.

EAT PRAY LOVE
Julia Roberts stars in this adaptation of Elizabeth
Gilbert's best-selling memoir about coping with a
depressing divorce. After deciding to reshape her
life, Liz (Roberts) travels the world in search of
direction. She heads to Italy, India and Bali,
indulging in delicious cuisine while seeking the true
meaning of self-love, family, friendship and
forgiveness. Along the way, she meets a bevy of
characters and, possibly, her true love.

THE EXPENDABLES
Barney (Sylvester Stallone) leads a ragtag band of
hired guns charged with overthrowing a South
American despot, a job no official military unit is
willing to touch. But once on the ground, the team
learns there's more to the mission than they were
told. Their next move determines whether they
survive -- or are, indeed, expendable. Jason
Statham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and Jet
Li round out a stellar cast.
