I ‘ve been seeking ways to make photography a more personal thing for me, like it was when I first discovered it. To that end I’ve decided to delve into many more personal projects. I’ve started an ongoing portrait series called To Each His Own Place. The goal is to shoot each person in a space that is intimate to them and that makes them feel most comfortable, like themselves. For some that will be at home. For others it may be doing an activity that they love. I started the project with the people I have known the longest and know best, my family. My mother was a particularly fun one. She derives so much pleasure and pain from her lawn. Pleasure when it looks beautiful (as it almost always does), and pain when clover sneaks in or there are fall leaves on the lawn. And she mows the grass herself 2-3 times a week. This seemed like the ideal place to photograph her. This is her, in her element. more w ork f rom e ri c B log : ww w.e r i c p r i n e . co m/ blo g T / IG: @ e s pr i n e seth lowe ww w.se thlowe p hoto.co m 2 1 Seth’s other dream job would be to own a breakfast cafe. He got married to his wife twice - in the US & the UK since shes British! 3 Seth is a rockstar in more ways than one - he also happens to play both the bass & the guitar. T he Wyoming trip was a dream come true for me. I spent most of my childhood Halloween’s dressing up as a cowboy. After several months of planning, I arrived in the small town of Kaycee. The next week involved me spending my days following cowboys around their ranch, and my nights trying to make friends over cheap beer in a smoky little bar. Cell service, GPS, and road signs were a rarity, so I had to become acclimated with landmark based navigation, and getting my jeep through some washed out gravel and mud roads. It was incredible to photograph different cowboys in their environments, and get to know their life in the west. The experience pushed me a lot as a creative, and I know that the images I made that week will be favorites of mine for years to come. I plan on returning and continuing the project over the next couple of years. more w ork f rom s e t h Blog: www.sethlowephoto.tumblr.com T / IG: @sethlowephoto kate t. parker ww w. kat e Tparke rp hotography.com 3 1 Kate completed an ironman triathlon. 2 Her first car was a pickup truck with No one needs to know she cried... a plow on the front, all year long. The Real Housewives franchise on Bravo is her jam. She likes to pretend what her intro would be - “taking pictures is not a snap. Say cheese!” I loved working on this shoot so much. It is rare that I get to combine so many things I love (athletes and children, especially my own kids) in the same shoot. The idea of capturing the women of the Chicago Bliss as the athletes and powerful women that they truly are was my goal with this shoot. There are so many preconceived ideas about these women and this league in particular and I wanted people to be able to see beyond that and truly see their power. One thing that completely floored me was how amazing the Bliss were in engaging and interacting with the young girls (my two girls and niece included). The girls LOVED them and are still talking about them. more w ork f rom k a t e Blog: ww w.kate t pa r ke r p h otography.com/ blo g IG: @ kate t pa r ke r p h oto g raphy T: @ ktpa r k e r ph oto attic fire www.atticfire.com 1 3 Attic Fire is a two-man team (Eric and Jeremiah) who met 16 years ago while attending Brooks Institute of Photography. 2 Between them they own a whopping 33 cameras! One of their favorite things to do is quote Back to the Future II at each other. W e’ve had the pleasure of working on numerous great projects with Earl Swensson Associates (ESa), an architecture firm based in Nashville. We travel all over the country shooting large projects for them, but one of the most incredible projects we’ve shot for them was right in their hometown of Nashville, of their brand new office building. They had been in the same office for decades and were finally moving into a new, modern space they were designing from the ground up and could make into exactly what they wanted it to be. It is in the heart of The Gulch neighborhood of Nashville and is a stunning addition to the area. Rarely do we get such an incredible space to explore with our cameras. Of course we had a shot list but we were able to find so many great vignettes and details that really made it fun to shoot. And as always, the architects, designers and entire team at ESa were a lot of fun to work with. more work from attic fire Blog: www.atticfire.com/blog IG / T : @atticfirephoto 3026 W.
