WELCOME TO
THE NORTHERN
WILDERNESS
KAKSLAUTTANEN
ARCTIC RESORT
Kakslauttanen is a family hotel in Finnish Lapland, 250
kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. It was the glass igloos
and log cabins that put us on the world map. Now, here in the
middle of the wilderness, we have a lot more in store,
including Santa’s entire world. Make yourself comfortable in
Lapland’s most original destination.
WINTER
The polar night, or kaamos, is a magical period in Lapland.
The blue light of twilight, metres and metres of snow, and
extreme frost – this is what the heart of winter is made of.
In January, when the sun finally rises after its long retreat,
the days quickly grow longer. What could soothe the
soul more than skiing on densely packed snow or taking
a snowmobile out in the crisp, bright winter sunshine?
Kakslauttanen offers a very good opportunity to see the
Northern Lights. One of the best way to see them is to
spend a night in our unique glass igloo.

SUMMER
Summer in Lapland is intense – the sun never sets between
mid-May and early August. That’s why Lapland is often called
the Land of the Midnight Sun. This is not to suggest a scorching
heat; the weather will be perfect for hiking up and down the
fells – day and night if you wish. The summer season ends
in September, when the ruska period sets in and nature
is ablaze with a magnificent array of changing colours.

ACCOMMODATION
Our love for Lapland’s wilderness has guided us in crafting
accommodation facilities that showcase the region’s nature and
the essence of what it means to live in Lapland. Although our
cabins and igloos are located in peaceful natural surroundings,
they all are walking distance from restaurants
and other services.

SANTA’S HOME
After all these centuries, Santa has finally decided to unlatch the
doors of his home to the public. Deep in the heart of the forest is
also Santa’s Celebration House. One of the largest log buildings
in Finland accommodates up to 300 guests, whether they be
dining, celebrating a wedding or enjoying a concert.
WEDDINGS AND
HONEYMOONS
Kakslauttanen has been a popular wedding and honeymoon
destination for years. Many people also like to come to us to
renew their vows. No matter how extraordinary or imaginative
your wishes may be, we will tailor our services accordingly.
EVENTS &
INCENTIVES
As an event venue, Kakslauttanen is guaranteed to be
something out of the ordinary. It is both intimate and relaxed,
and excellently equipped for larger crowds as well. Santa’s
Celebration House seats 300 people and is fitted with the
latest lighting, video and sound equipment. Your entire trip
can be tailored just as you want it. When necessary, the whole
place can be rented for private use.

HERE WE ARE
Kakslauttanen is located right at the edge of the wilderness,
along the road to the Arctic Sea. Although we are far from it all,
our place is easy to reach. The nearest international airport is in
Ivalo, just a 30-minute ride away. There are regular flights all year
around between Ivalo (IVL) and Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL)
international airport, which is the leading long-haul
airport in Northern Europe.
