Performing A Musical
The performance of a musical to an audience (other than pupils
and staff) requires a performance licence, even if it is a ‘free’
performance. (Please note a Performing Rights Society (PRS) Licence
does NOT cover musicals).
We issue affordable performance licences to schools, churches,
nurseries and other groups.
Purchase an ‘Instant Performance Licence’ when you buy
your book and CD package and it could save you money!
This Instant Licence will cover any number of performances within
a specified time (maximum 12 months from date of purchase).

A performance licence will permit the holder to:
· Perform the musical on the dates applied for
· Photocopy the script for learning purposes. Copies must be
destroyed after the performance.
· Make up to 2 photocopies of the music score for use by
participating musicians on the performance dates.
· Play the CD (either backing or vocal tracks) at the performance.
To apply, or re-apply for your standard performance licence, simply
complete the performance licence application form to be found in our
musical and nativity play books, or call Customer Services. NB Prices
printed may be out of date. Please ensure that you are using up to
date contact details.
If not staging a musical but performing any of our songs for
the public on school premises (i.e. to anyone other than pupils
or staff) then royalty payments become due. Contact Out of the
Ark directly to obtain a licence. Please note: There is no need
to obtain a licence from the publisher if your school has an
arrangement with the Performing Rights Society (PRS) either
directly or through the local authority.
Audio/Video/DVD Recordings
Singing Songs In The Classroom
You are free to use all of the material – including songs and scripts
– in the classroom for teaching purposes. If photocopying any part
of the book for teaching purposes please record this usage on
your school’s photocopy log to ensure you are legally protected.

Please ensure that you log the songs that are used on your CWCL
and CWMRL copy report.
Your CWCL licence also grants you permission to display the song
lyrics from our Words on ScreenTM CD ROMs on a whiteboard
or other screen. Simply log the song titles on your copy report.
Organisations that do not hold one of the above licences should
contact Out of the Ark Limited directly for permission.

Copying Out of the Ark Music’s audio CDs is not permitted without
obtaining a specific licence from the publisher. Installation of audio
CD tracks on to a computer is strictly forbidden without a licence –
we can provide schools with a ‘Learning Platform Licence’.
File-sharing of any of our audio/backing tracks, CD ROM files,
digital songbooks or MP3 files, is strictly prohibited unless an
‘Extension Licence’ has been purchased, in which case files may
only be shared with the pupils and teachers within your school or
group setting.
Description
When purchasing Words on ScreenTM (WOSTM) products, no
installation is required as this product can be run on your computer
simply by inserting the CD ROM. You are also entitled to install this
product onto the hard drive of a single computer.
To install the CD ROM for any of the Words on ScreenTM titles on two
or more computers or onto the school network on your premises, an
Extension Licence should be purchased for £29.95/€38.95 for each title.
A CCLI Licence (www.ccli.co.uk/schools) grants you permission to
display the song lyrics from our Words on Screen™ CD ROMs on
a whiteboard or other screen. Simply log your song titles on your
annual copy report. Alternatively, apply to Out of the Ark for an
annual licence.

Putting On A Concert
Songs may be sung in assembly without charge. However the
reproduction of the lyrics or musical scores for use in an assembly
or a church requires a licence. The following licences from CCLI
