After last year’s successful games raised money for scholarships for seniors at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School, the Teacher’s Association decided to continue with the program. Mrs. Mott said that the ―scholarship fund is very important to us‖ and it ―was a lot of hard work but we [Teacher’s Association] were able to give out almost $2,000 in scholarships‖ said Ms. Rhodes. The 2010 recipients of the OETA Scholarship, Amber Wiltse, Sunja White and Katherine Lynch, each received between $1,000 and $500. When asked if last year’s games were a success, Mrs. Poltynski said ―absolutely, we were thrilled on how it went‖. Many teachers put time and effort into getting the games started. There were many committees controlling everything from food to games. Mrs. Poltynski said it was a ―huge group effort‖. Mrs. Mott says that around this OPPENHEIM-EPHRATAH CENTRAL SCHOOL STUDENTS $1 time ―everyone comes together‖ and can have a great time with their friends and family. The overall goal for the OETA Games is to have more participation from the students and the community so ultimately more money can be given out to a graduating senior.
