You must show a valid AMA license when you check in at the flying site. If you are not currently an AMA member, new AMA membership applications will be available at the site. All applicable AMA regulations governing the pilot, his aircraft and equipment, and his conduct while on the field will be enforced. Consideration for the safety of spectators, contest personnel and other flyers is of the utmost importance. Events on Saturday, June 23, 2012 OLD TIME STUNT EVENT (JSO) I.C. or Electric power Stunt designs prior to December 31, 1952 CLASSIC STUNT EVENT (JSO) I.C. or Electric power Stunt designs from January 1, 1953 through December 31, 1969, plus SIG Akrobat, Chipmunk, Super Chipmunk, Mustang Stunter, Banshee and Twister PROFILE STUNT EVENT (JSO) I.C. or Electric power No engine limit; profile fuselage only (3/4” max. thickness aft of wing); side mounted exposed engine; triplers or cheek cowls allowed on opposite side from engine; no appearance points; no “no flap” bonus. NAVY CARRIER EVENTS AMA CLASS I (JSO) I.C. or Electric power AMA CLASS II (JSO) I.C. or Electric power AMA PROFILE (JSO) I.C. or Electric power SIG SKYRAY 35 (JSO) I.C. or Electric power Electric allowed in all Navy Carrier events - IC and Electric combined. SIG SKYRAY 35 NAVY CARRIER Local Rules 1) SIG Skyray 35 kits only. Although construction details may be modified, wing and empennage airfoils and outlines of fuselage and flight surfaces shall be stock within normal building tolerances. a. No additional movable flight control surfaces are allowed other than elevator. The chord of the elevator chord may be increased from stock. b. Two wheel landing gear is allowed. Tail skid may be modified. Motor mounts (and fuselage front end) may be modified in a reasonable way to accommodate the motors being used, but not for additional streamlining. c. Either a standard 3-line control system (elevator and throttle) or a 2-line control system (elevator, with throttle controlled by an electrical signal passing through the lines) may be used. Design and location of control system components is open. d. Repositioning the leadouts to a location on the wing tip other than where shown on the plan is allowed as long as the leadouts emerge from the wing tip within the fore-aft limits of the wing. Line sliders are NOT allowed. Stock wing tips may be left off - no further shortening of the wing is allowed. e. Addition of arresting hook is allowed. 2) Propulsion system may be either piston engine (glow) or electric motor. Maximum displacement for piston engine is .409 cu.in. (muffler optional). 3) Fuel Tank: Suction only, no pressurized systems. 4) Fuel: SIG Champion 10% (supplied at contest). 5) The scoring of the event shall be per the AMA rule book for Profile Carrier with the following exceptions: a. No scale bonus points will be awarded, however the model should look like a SIG Skyray 35 b. Maximum high speed score will be limited to 75 mph 6) All other rules are the same as for AMA Profile Carrier event, plus NCS Electric Profile Carrier Event rules for electric motor powered entries. NCS ELECTRIC RULES for Class I, Class II, Profile Events For events designated 319e, 320e, 321e, corresponding to AMA events 319, 320, 321, respectively. 1. Applicability. All pertinent AMA regulations for Control Line Navy Carrier shall apply, except as specified below. In places where the term "engine" is used in the AMA regulations, the term "motor" shall be understood for purposes of applicability and pertinence to the electric Navy Carrier events. 2. Power Systems. Models shall be propelled only by one or more electric motors which receive their power from one or more onboard battery packs. Maximum battery voltage is 42 volts. Electrical signals for control may be transmitted through the control lines but electrical power to power the motors or recharge the battery packs may not be transmitted through the control lines. 3. Weights and pull test. The weight of Profile Class and Class I models shall not exceed 3.5 pounds ready for flight, including batteries. The weight of Class II models shall be greater than 3.5 pounds but shall not exceed 4.5 pounds ready for flight, including batteries. All models shall be pull tested to 20G. SKYRAY 35 SPORT RACE EVENT (Novice, Open) 1) SIG Skyray 35 kits only. 2) Box stock Fox .35 Stunt Engine. Only permitted alterations are: Needle Valve/Spraybar, different bolts may be used. 3) Commercially produced stock 9x6 or 9x7 wood or plastic prop. No rework except to balance. No fiberglass props. 4) Suction feed only, no pressure systems. No centrifugal switches. 5) Two ounce fuel tank, no quick fills. Tank must be filled through 1/8" tubing. Tank must be mounted outboard of fuselage. Tank size is optional - we suggest two ounce tanks to prevent overruns. 6) No fuel or engine shut-offs. 7) Lines: 60' (+- 6") x .015 stranded steel. Pull test of 35#. 8) Race: 100 laps with 2 pit stops. 9) Two Skill Classes: Novice and Open 10) One wheel minimum ROG. SPEED LIMIT COMBAT EVENT (JSO) AMA Slow Combat (event 329) rules except: 1. No airframe or engine restrictions 2. 60 ft lines. 3. 75 mph Speed Limit (6.85 sec./2 laps) Speed can be checked at any time. Exceeding the speed limit results in loss of all points gained up to that point. No further points can be gained until model is slowed below speed limit. 4. Scoring per AMA Slow (no kill, max. of one string cut scored). 5. Third watch WILL be used (ie- match ends if mid-air causes one or both models to be unflyable). 6. Shut-offs recommended, but not required. 7. Conditions Permitting, this event will be 5 round format.
