HEADMASTER’S NOTES
We stand on the brink of another Arts Festival and the excitement at school is palpable following the publication of the programme on noticeboards
around the school. I am sure that, like me, you await this explosion of creativity and culture with eager anticipation. I must thank in advance Mr
Cassar, Mrs Kelly and Mrs Hamidon for all their efforts in putting together this exceptional event. I do not doubt that your son will come home and
regale you with tales of the many and various
activities he has been engaged in. Watch this space
for the photographs next week!
I hope by now you have all had an opportunity to
see the new lunchtime provision option we are
trialling in partnership with Pret A Manger. I am
conscious that preparing lunches can, at times,
prove burdensome and, to that end, I trust this
option will provide some help and support to busy
families. We shall be reviewing the success of the
trial and letting you know how this may be taken
forward in the future.
I would like to ask you all to remain vigilant in light
of the recent emails we have had to forward to you
regarding Stranger Danger. I am sure many of you
will have seen the report in this week’s Wimbledon
Guardian, which covers the attempt made to
Year 8 Paintballing fun!
abduct a King’s pupil in the Village last week. It also
refers, as we have communicated to you, to
another two incidents in Merton that Police continue to investigate. It is an area in which we need your help. Together we are able to lend hundreds
of extra pairs of eyes to those maintaining a watch over our
boys. Please do report any concerns you might have to the
Euro 2016 Football mania!
Police, as any information may be of use. Alongside this, I
would continue to support you in your struggles to protect
your children online. Whilst I know that once boys are at home
it should be the case that we feel they are safe, please do
remember to observe secure Internet using protocols such as
Teamwork at the King’s Cayley Maths Challenge
having good software to monitor Internet and to block unwanted websites
and checking the history generated by Internet use if you have
concerns. Should you wish to take some advice, please do contact Mr
Currie. If there is one key piece of guidance I would offer it is to
make sure that no device capable of connecting to the Internet is
used in a private space, but instead in an open and public area where
you can keep a weather eye on your children to make sure they are
protected.
By the time I write to you next our generational decision to Brexit or
not to Brexit will have been made and become known!

the Day on Monday, William and Oliver Leutert (opposite):
In the morning, we handed out Certificates in Assembly and we
looked around the classrooms and thought about which were the
best classes and they were Classes 3KL and 3SL. Later on, we
investigated how many fire extinguishers, fire alarms and fire escapes
there were in the school with Mrs. Rissen. We had Domino’s Pizza for
lunch with our Deputy Heads: Lucas Luckin and Enzo Boot. After
lunch, we had a meeting with Mrs Griffin, the Chair of Governors, and
then we gave out stickers for good work to boys in Reception, Year 1
and Year 2. We had a really fun day!

The last day the Uniform Shop will be open this term will be on Friday
24th June. The shop will then reopen in the Autumn Term on Thursday
1st September. PLEASE NOTE: Next week (Week 10) the Shop will also
be open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 3.30pm to
4.15pm.

Ex Willington boy (17 years old), who lives locally,

SCHOOL COUNCIL ANNUAL SUMMER FAIR
The School Council Annual Summer Fair is being held
again for the boys only on Tuesday 28th June. We
would love any donations of unwanted books, toys or
games to sell at the fair please. There is a box waiting
in the entrance hall for all your donations. Please may
we request that all items are in good working order
and condition. Thank you for all your support.
Staff held an Afternoon Tea Party with sandwiches, cake and champagne to
