Head of School
Parents’ Association Board President
Welcome to A Night at the Races, where friendliness, beauty, cheer, and chance converge for an evening of celebration. Our school community deserves
to let loose exuberantly! Dust off your fancy hats and debut your spring colors – this is the occasion to be bold. Enjoy gathering with old friends and new,
dining, drinking and dancing. If you are ready to bid on some fantastic prizes, you are guaranteed to beat the odds, for every dollar raised comes right back
to create an optimal educational experience for your children.
It is an honor to present the rose garland to the Chair of the Spring Social and Fundraiser, Claudia Morton, who brought tremendous energy to a deeply
committed team of parent volunteers. The Parents’ Association Board, under the leadership of Linda Golan, has focused on reaching out to all families in
the community. Let’s make the hard work of the PAB and Spring Social planners pay off big by coming together for this joyous event.
Amidst the laughter and toasting, we will also be raising money for PAB programs that help us stay connected throughout the school year. The success
of the annual Spring Social directly leads to meaningful events where we enjoy building the community in which you have chosen to raise your children.
Beyond that, the PAB has always engaged with the school administration to determine how to best support the school’s strategic priorities.
We come together at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School for the mission, program, and community. Thank you for “showing” your commitment to the
community, “placing” your trust in the school, and “winning” memorable experiences for the children with your generosity.
And they are off…
Erik Carlson, Head of School
Church Rector
Dear Saint Andrew’s Family,
As I look back at the school year, I am filled with a sense of joy and gratitude. We have so much to celebrate and what better way to come together than the
Spring Social and Fundraiser, the biggest party of the year!
Under the fearless leadership of Claudia Morton, a whole army of parents have been working all year to transform magically the school to Churchill Downs.
So, please come celebrate and help us raise funds for yet another amazing year for our children and families.
Funds we raise from the Spring Social are used for many programs and activities. Foremost, they go to PAB-sponsored programs and activities that are
integral to our school’s effort to create and nurture the best community for our children and families. I wholeheartedly believe that what makes Saint
Andrew’s so special is its inclusive community. And in this warm community, our children grow up happy, confident, and mindful.
With your generosity, the PAB can organize and sponsor numerous events including the Harvest Festival, the Variety Show, Field Day, Buddy Lunch, and
Dads’ Club Spaghetti Dinner. The PAB also sponsors the Common Ground membership, Creative Arts Package (CAP), Pursuing Responsibilities, Integrity,
Discipline & Effort (PRIDE), and tuition assistance.
In addition, a portion of the funds will be gifted to the school to support projects that benefit our children. This year, we will be funding a classroom
reorganization/renovation project. Currently at Saint Andrew’s, space is very precious and we need to utilize every room effectively and productively.
Recently, the Church and the School have recommitted to shared spaces on our campus. The Religious Education Room (the NET Room), which in
previous years has been available for limited school use, can be transformed into a soundproof Lower School Music Classroom during the weekdays. This
will enable the school to move Pre-K to the space adjacent to their own playground. Reorganization of some classrooms will support greater collaboration,
and easier movement and flow for some of the grades. Moreover, the school will be able to provide professional space for teachers (Father Cameron, Mr.
Pardue) who currently do not have offices.
I would like to express my warmest gratitude and my awe to Claudia and all the parent volunteers for making magic. I would also like to thank our Head of
School, Mr. Carlson, who enthusiastically supported and partnered with the Parents’ Association Board all year long.
Dear parents, faculty, administration, staff, parish members, and friends of Saint Andrew’s,
As I said, we are very fortunate to be part of this community. Thank you! And now, let’s celebrate!
Thank you for joining us for this year’s “Kentucky Derby” Annual Spring Social. I hope you and all those who came with you will have a terrific evening at
the “races.”
Linda Golan, Parents’ Association Board President 2014-2015
The PAB and their Spring Social Chair Claudia Morton have worked very hard to design a wonderful evening for the entire Saint Andrew’s community. At
the heart of their effort is the belief in the importance of the Saint Andrew’s mission and all the students who will benefit from tonight’s event. We depend
very much on the funds raised at tonight’s event in order to offer the extraordinary level of education and particular attention that we give every child, every
day.
The members of the Spring Social Committee are inviting us not only to have fun with the Derby festivities, but to encourage us to give generously to
support something that directly impacts our children. The impact of Saint Andrew’s on the formation and education of the whole child will last well beyond
this year’s Derby; it will last a lifetime. Keep this in mind as you consider bidding on the wonderful items offered at tonight event.
Please enjoy yourself tonight. Please meet someone you didn’t know before and help us build a greater community.
Thank you for your support and for all of the ways in which you share with the wider community the particular uniqueness of Saint Andrew’s that sets us
apart. Have a wonderful evening.
God’s peace,
The Rev. Channing Smith, Rector
Spring Social and Fundraiser Chair
And we’re off…to A Night at the Races!
So often we race from place to place, not sure if we are even on the right track. Working these past twelve months on the Spring Social have definitely
quickened my daily pace, but it has been easy to stay the course knowing the purpose and what awaited at the finish line.
When I was asked if I would lead Spring Social, it was an easy “yes” for me. This event encompasses all the things that I love: community building,
supporting Saint Andrew’s and its mission, and most importantly… having a big party! Spring Social has been one of my favorite things about Saint
Andrew’s since I attended my first one four years ago. Now, a good party that also raises money for our school… well, that’s a great party!
This party that I love that seems so relaxed for an attendee actually takes countless hours of preparation and work. I can’t thank enough all the Committee
Members who worked tirelessly to pull together this event. They showed a level of talent and dedication that left me impressed beyond words, which is
saying a lot since I always have words to say! Also I’m so grateful to the faculty and staff who not only give to our children every single day, but also donate
their time for outings that are an integral part of the Spring Social’s success.
This year’s theme celebrates the fabulous Kentucky Derby, an event that upholds excellence, energy, excitement and enduring traditions in much the same
way that Saint Andrew’s does among independent schools. Tonight, I invite you to place some bids and make A Night at the Races a win for all! And while
you’re smelling the proverbial Winner’s Circle roses, remember to have fun. I know I will!

Rules and Procedures for Auction
and Fund-A-Need
1. Register for the Auction: To participate in this year’s Auction and Fund-A-Need, you will need to register online and create an auction account. As
you purchase Spring Social tickets on the Saint Andrew’s website (on the Spring Social page), you will be prompted to follow a link to register for the
auction. Or you may register and create an auction account by going directly to http://standrews.auction-bid.org/.
2. Silent Auction: Class Baskets will be available for bidding and purchase only on Friday, May 8 at the ”Stables at Saint Andrew’s,” the Spring Social
preview event held at Saint Andrew’s Center. Paper bidding forms will be used to record bids for Class Baskets. All other Silent Auction items will
open for bidding using the Mobile Phone Bidding System when you register and create an auction account. Silent Auction items will progressively
close starting at 6:45pm on Saturday, May 9. All Silent Auction items will close by 7:00pm on May 9. You may bid on
Silent Auction items even if you are not attending A Night at the Races.
3. New Silent Auction Mobile Phone Bidding System: Browsing, bidding and paying for most Silent Auction items will be
possible using a mobile phone or tablet with cellular or WiFi connection. At this year’s Spring Social and Fundraiser, no
paper bid sheets will be used for Silent Auction items with numbers higher than 400.
4. No Special App Needed: There is no need to download a special application. After registration, you will receive a
welcome text and email from our auction technology service provider GiveSmart. The text will be sent to the cell phone
number you provided during registration, and it will contain your own unique link to access the Silent Auction using your
mobile phone or tablet.
5. Bidding via Internet or Text or a Personal Shopper: If you do not have an Internet-enabled mobile phone or tablet, you can still bid by replying to
the welcome text, sending a text with an item number, and bidding via text. There will be several GiveSmart Personal Shoppers on-hand at the night
of the event to help attendees with Silent Auction bidding. Bidders who do not have mobile phones or tablets, or who choose not to use this mobile
bidding system, may also participate in the bidding with the help of a GiveSmart Personal Shopper.
6. Tracking Your Bidding Status: After registering with your mobile device, you can view your “My Bids” tab and see
all of the items you are winning, losing or just watching. If you have been outbid, a text notification is sent to your

bid status. If you are not using the mobile device bidding system, a GiveSmart Personal Shopper can notify you as
well. When the Silent Auction closes at 7:00pm, you will be able to see all items you have won in your “My Bids”
tab.
7. Instant Buy and Buy-It-Now Items: Boutique Items and slots for Parties can be purchased at a set price using the

Mendocino Coast Golf Getaway
901. Available only to Teachers & Staff. Considering the name of this item,
we can only be speaking of Little River Inn which sports the only golf
course on the Mendocino Coast. The 9-hole course is surprisingly tough,
perhaps partly due to the breath-taking ocean views that might distract you
from your game. This package allows 18 holes (either 2 rounds for 1 golfer,
or 1 round with 2 golfers). You will also receive a $50 credit toward a stay
at Little River Inn, an elegant and comfortable coastal resort that takes pride
in offering beautiful surroundings, memorable meals, and five generations
of family-friendly hospitality. This package is valid Sundays through
Thursdays, good until May 1, 2016. Donor: Little River Inn

fine glass of wine to make the down-times a little more special. In this
package, several delightful wine-related treats await. You can drink a toast
to your health (and to your good fortune for winning) at Cin Cin Wine
Bar & Restaurant, Los Gatos. Using a $50 gift card for this Michelin Guide
recommended spot, enjoy its fresh, contemporary cuisine, international
wine list, and innovative cocktails. You’ll also fit in perfectly with the casually
chic Cin Cin crowd with your new Kate Spade small round evening bag
which resembles, what else, a wine cork! And if you just want to put up
your feet and relax at home in your softest sweats, we got you covered
there, too, with a bottle of light, refreshing Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc.
