PO Box 270956, Tampa, FL 33688-0956 Ph. #813-933-8111 Email: Galcomusa@galcom.org Web Site -www.galcomusa.com Dear Friends of Galcom: July 2015 Belize Part II “The fruit of the righteous is like a tree producing life, and the one who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30 NET) Last month we featured Galcom’s productive radio partnership to reach Mayans with The Message 105.3 FM in Santa Cruz, Belize.* Where Belize is concerned, however, this partnership is just the tip of the iceberg. Possibly due to the great freedom Christian ministries enjoy in Belize, we have developed a number of fruitful, mutually satisfying radio ministry partnerships there over the years. Beginning in 1997, Galcom began supplying solar-powered radio receivers fixtuned to 93.7 FM for Richard and Rosa Smith of My Refuge Christian Radio in the captial city of Belmopan. Soon, a cascade of other evangelical radio ministry partners began to line up for their own shipments of durable 15+ year lifespan Galcom radios in order to share them with spiritually hungry Belizeans in their respective listening areas. Among the first was Toledo Christian Radio 99.9 FM in San Ignacio (now headed by Rudy Tzib). Clive Welsh’s Lighthouse Christian Radio 101.3 FM on the island of San Pedro followed suit soon thereafter. Next, Isaac Dueck’s Horizon Radio 97.3 FM near Spanish Lookout got into the act as did Jim and Jenny Duncan’s Destiny Radio 105.1 FM in coastal Belize City. All tolled, more than 11,500 life-transforming solar-powered fix-tuned Galcom radio handset receivers have been sent to Belize in support of the Christian radio evangelisitic efforts there! Several of our key partners in Belize recently sent us reports and expressions of thanks like these: - I have received numerous phone calls that shared how much the station means to them and they are flocking to get a Galcom radio to listen in. I would like to say if it was not for Galcom who has helped so much in various ways like the transmitter and the Galcom radios we would not have gotten so far and we are looking forward to working hand in hand to further the Gospel with the much anticipated help that might come through you guys in the future. - Issac Dueck, Horizon Radio - I received a call from a young lady asking for one of our Galcom solar powered radios. She told us that her father has been listening to it for some time now and as a result has stopped drinking and cannot put down his radio. ’Whatever you guys are doing, please keeping doing it’ she said! - Clive Welsh, Lighthouse Christian Radio Ministry - Let me try to explain our feelings about Galcom's partnership with us by sharing a testimony. I had been in the States for a visit when I received an urgent message that we were temporarily off the air. I cut my trip short and flew back to Belize. On my way home I stopped to pick up a few groceries. As I approached the counter I heard a voice behind me say,” What happened to Destiny?” I turned to see a young Garifuna woman who I had never met before. I explained that we were having transmitter problems. She made the following statement, “Don't you know – that's what keeps us alive?!” That’s also the best way that I can explain our feelings about Galcom. “Don't you know – that is what has kept us alive?!!” And that partnership continues to maintain life – and bring new life throughout central Belize. Our listeners are Mayan, Kriol, Garifuna, and Hispanic – plus Old Colony Mennonites whose first language is Plattdeutsch (Low German). Thank you Galcom for helping us bring “new life.” “Don't you know – that's what keeps us alive!.” Pastor Jim and Jenny Duncan and our Destiny Radio Family Thank you, Galcom partners, for your faithful prayers and gifts that make Galcom’s manifold radio outreach in Belize possible. Clive Welsh indicated that he would like new Galcom ImpaX units tuned to 101.3 FM. Your continued partnership with us is appreciated.
