Ferien-Messe Wien
THE trade fair in Austria for
holidays, travel and leisure
Welcome to the Ferien-Messe Wien! At the beginning of every year halls A and B are
occupied by around 780 exhibitors from 70 countries – all here to showcase top
travel attractions, great destinations, the latest holiday trends and insider tips.
In 2015 around 150,000 visitors once again followed the call to attend the show
during the four days of the fair. The next edition of Austria’s most popular public
access trade fair for the travel and holiday sector will be taking place alongside the
parallel Vienna Autoshow on the 14th – 17th January 2016.
The Ferien-Messe Wien is a unique opportunity for visitors to gather impressions and
information. The fair is also an important gathering for the industry, and as a source
of inspiration it attracts plenty of specialist visitors.
The large number of Austrian, foreign and international exhibitors, opportunities to
interact with visitors, experience-based themes and the event aspects of this fair, are
the ingredients that contribute to the immense popularity of the fair among members
of the public. The opportunities to see, experience and enjoy features and themes
at the show, and the trial sections such as the infrastructure built to test mountain
bikes, continue to be part of this successful combination of an exhibition, information
service, show and a chance to compare goods, services and prices.

Broad range of interests and
positive travel market
Austrians love to travel and despite the current economic slow-down the
popularity of domestic and foreign travel remains unbroken. Most holiday-makers
and travellers state restorative holidays to be of the greatest importance, followed
by short breaks and city stops.
Ferien-Messe Wien
maintains its popularity
A quarter of the visitors said they preferred to go on one main holiday per year.
34% of the visitors said they would rather take several short breaks (fewer than
7 days). Cycling, motorcycling, trekking and walking holidays also continued to
grow in popularity *.
The visitor poll* conducted at the Ferien-Messe Wien underlines the
positive mood of expo visitors:

* These details were drawn from the independent visitor poll carried out by the market research institute ‘Market’ on the 15th – 18th January 2015.
The first trade visitor days were held in cooperation with several partners in 2015,
since the Ferien-Messe Wien has increasingly been used by domestic and foreign
trade visitors as a commercial platform by the tourist industry itself as an important
opportunity for this industry to get together. A tailor-made programme of customised side events has been put together for trade insiders visiting the fair in 2016,
offering this target group a wide range of long-term benefits, fascinating content
and networking opportunities.
