Charter Member Passes Exciting Plans for the Spring Retreat
Iowa Quilter’s Guild NewsleƩer February 2016 Vol. 37 No. 1 Charter Member Passes Pat Wood from Ames passed away January 14, 2016 a er a massive stroke. She had served the Guild as an early officer and long me supporter. Pat taught classes for the Guild and cheerfully served in many ways. She was well known for her love and preserva on of historic quilts. Their life stories fascinated her and she diligently researched the origins of her quilts. Pat inspired those who worked with her, took her classes and s tched with her. She will be greatly missed, but we can only imagine the conversa on around the eternal quil ng frame, as Pat joins our other members. (contributed by Star Ann Kloberdanz) Pat Folle gathered this informa on from the 30 year reunion in 2009: Patricia Wood, Early Member, Treasurer 1980-82, Registered Agent since 1983 As a young child, Patricia a ended quilt gatherings with her mother. While other children played, she helped the ladies with the edges of their quilts; eventually sewing and quil ng on her own. “I received a Ɵny thimble for my 6th birthday, which I have now passed on to my granddaughter.” In 1972, Pat started teaching sewing for the Singer Company and for Adult Educaon Classes. When Iowa Quilters Guild started, she enthusias cally became a member within the first year. From 1980-1982, Patricia served as the guild’s treasurer, and then was asked to assume the permanent posi on of Registered Agent, receiving all of the guild’s official mail. Through the Iowa Quilter’s guild, Patricia formed las ng friendships with fellow quilters and con nued to meet regularly with them for “fun, fellowship and inspiraƟon.” Exciting Plans for the Spring Retreat Program Chair-elect, Lori Isvik, has finalized plans for the Spring Retreat in Creston. Details, registration form and hotel/motel contact information can be found on the next THREE pages! InformaƟon Needed Is there a quilt show coming up in your area?
