The Thompsons will be available on Blu-‐ray and DVD October 18 The Thompsons Blu-‐ray and DVD will be available to buy for $24.95 Wednesday, September 26, 2012 – Accent Film Entertainment is excited to announce the upcoming release of The Thompsons. It will be available to rent and buy on both Blu-‐ray and DVD from October 18. Received with glowing praise in the UK where it recently headlined 2012 Frightfest, The Thompsons picks up the thread of the 2006 cult hit The Hamiltons and goes for the jugular. On the run from police in their native California after a massacre in an outpost near the Mojave Desert, the family is forced to take on a new identity and cross the Atlantic as they seek refuge knowing that the injury sustained by the youngest, Lenny, requires urgent medical attention if he is to survive. But will they? Accepted by an aristocratic clan sympathetic to their plight the Thompsons unknowingly enter into a perverse game of power shifts jeopardised by desire, blood lines and self-‐preservation. Will this bring about the end of their tortured existence? Presented in scope widescreen offered across two formats, The Thompsons will be supported by social media, online promotions and giveaways, including interviews opportunities with the talented directorial team known as the Butcher Brothers. The film is also likely to appeal to fans of HBO’s hit TV show True Blood and horror fans during the increasingly relevant Halloween season. Kim Newman writing in Screen Daily calls it “triumph” that hinges on “a refreshingly original storyline” which contains “some seriously good fight sequences.” Box Office Buz hails the strong performances. “It appears the actors in this film have all grown in talent as the years between films have passed and as a result the family as a whole is so much more likeable when facing off against Father Stuart, Mother Stuart and their offspring.” Pip Ellwood writing for Blog-‐o-‐matic notes, “The Thompsons is about family ties, pecking orders and dynastic ambitions within the extended Hamilton-‐Stuart clan. There are action and horror scenes,” she adds, “with a side order of peculiar sensuality, but the film resonates because of the odd, unusual characterisations.” Copies of The Thompsons will be available for review by request. Media are advised to express interest in interviews with the filmmakers.
