SALZBURG RESIDENCE
Breathtaking splendor
in the heart of Mozart‘s city
Behind the facades of the Salzburg Residence hides the bishop’s city palace with its
magnificently furnished state rooms which date back to three different periods.
The prince bishops of Salzburg furnished the Residence with a grandeur that nears wastefulness as a
demonstration of their power. Today, the 15 state rooms offer visitors a tour of 200 years of history of
architectural styles. Visitors walk in the footsteps of foreign princes who sought audiences with the prince
bishops: from the Carabinieri Room through to the prized audience chamber. Even today, significant receptions
by the province of Salzburg are held in the Residence. The rooms can also be hired for special functions.
