President’s Corner
I hope all the Classic Glass Corvette Club members
had a very Happy Valentine this month.
Since our last newsletter, we have already started the
fun this year with our first activity the Calvary
Children’s Home bowling outing. We had a great
time at U.S. Play with 18 kids from Calvary and
approx. 40 Classic Glass members. We bowled a few
games, had pizza and coke and the kids got to play
games and win prizes.
The Valentine Cruise or more properly named this
year “Valentine’s Get-A-Way weekend” was to
Amicalola Falls and Lodge. The cruise was great and
we had a nice drive to the lodge. After we arrived, we
had a great dinner and told Corvette stories. During
dinner, it started to snow and snowed most of the
night. So we stayed inside and laughed the night
away. After dinner we started our night with guys vs.
girls in a game of Pictionary and the girls showed the
guys no mercy. I will say that the best picture was a
plaid jacket drawn by Bill Majoros. After everyone
had a chance at Pictionary we started with the Jenga
game. We had a great time at that until we were all so
laughed out that we called it a night. The next
morning our guarded treasures (our Corvettes) were
covered in snow.
Our next event is the 4th annual trip to Highlands.
This should prove to be another great cruise. Every
year it just seems to get better and better. We will
cruise up on some windy roads and then have a wine
tasting at the local wine shop and take in a little
shopping there in Highlands. We will go back to the
Main Street Inn Bed and Breakfast and have dinner
and after dinner we will again be surprised with some
great fun with the entertainment for the evening.
We are looking forward to a great year. We have a
very good set of Officers and Board members this
year and I would like to thank them for all the help in
advance.
We also have a very active activities director this
year and you need to come and enjoy the events that
Cindy puts together for us. She needs a lot of help in
the way of event managers and volunteers. Please do
not wait to be asked, just tell Cindy you are willing
and she will sure use you.
Don’t forget to wave,
Barry
Teamwork:
A father and young daughter were crowded
into the showroom to see the new Corvette
when a woman in front turned around,
enraged, and slapped the man. Shocked, he
said nothing. But as they left, his daughter
said,” Wasn’t that woman terrible, Dad?
She stepped on my feet, so I pinched her
right on the behind!”

If you have a fun and/or informative write-up for
the newsletter, please send it to me and, subject to
space available, I’ll try to get it in. I continue to
struggle and if there’s a club member who would like
to do the monthly newsletter, please let me know!
If you have a Corvette for sale, we will put it into the
newsletter for 1 month free of charge. The ad can have up
to 3 lines and contain only a basic description and contact
information. After that you can run an extended ad for 6
months and only have to pay $10 for members and $25 for
non-members. This should be a great new feature to the
newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact Ron
Floyd.

CLASSIC GLASS CORVETTE CLUB
OF MARIETTA
Meeting Minutes from February 14,
2006 Monthly Meeting
7:30 PM
Barry Tomlinson, President
Barry called the meeting to order and gave
members an update on the last three club
events. Eight members attended the BarrettJackson Auto Auction in January. Nineteen
children from Calvary Children’s Home and 23
members enjoyed a fun-filled event on January
28th at US Play in Kennesaw. Barry commented
on the “nice summer day” that club members
experienced on the Valentine’s Cruise to The
Lodge at Amicalola Falls on February 11-12 with
low temperatures and snowfall. It was a
memorable event.
Barry encouraged those present to go on
cruises. It’s always a good time and a great way
to meet people, enjoy the club and socialize with
club members.
In honor of the Pictionary game played at The
Lodge, Joe Owens displayed the picture of the
Plaid Jacket that Bill Majoros had drawn on
Saturday night – and awarded Bill with, what
else (?) a Plaid Jacket!
Rachael Ewol of Calgary Children’s Home spoke
to the group about the needs of the children in
foster care and the cost of taking care of those
special children. Barry presented Rachael with
a check to Calgary for $3,000. $2,580 was
raised at the 2005 Christmas Party and the
Board of Directors later agreed to round up the
donation to $3,000.
7:38 PM
Jamie McSwain, Secretary
Jamie asked for a motion to accept the minutes
from the January meeting that was in the
newsletter. A motion was made, seconded and
pass by the club.
7:42 PM
Tom Sauntry, Treasurer
Tom gave us a summary of the Treasurer’s
report and asked for a motion to accept the
report as given. A motion was made, seconded
and passed by the club.

8:00 PM
of Activities
Cindy Owens, Vice President
Cindy thanked those who attended the
Valentine’s Cruise. Highlands is coming up, and
that promises to be an even better time. There
is a deadline of February 25th to sign up for this
cruise, and we would like to rent the entire Main
Street Inn – just as we’ve done for the last four
years. The weekend will include wine tasting,
dinner at the inn, after-dinner games and
breakfast on Sunday.
Cindy handed over the microphone to Charlie
Willis who outlined the Georgia Tech Auto Show
that is coming up on April 1st. Three hundred
people have already registered for this event.
The website is www.gatechautoshow.com. The
cost is $35, with a $10 discount for early
registration. Participants will receive a plaque
with a picture of their auto. There will be 12
classes of cars, with two awards per class.
Cindy mentioned that she will be coordinating a
cruise to the April 1st auto show. She also
mentioned that The Gathering will take place on
April 22nd. She and Joe will not be available,
and they are looking for an Event Coordinator
for that cruise.
World of Wheels is coming up on February 1719 at the World Congress Center.
8:10 PM
Don Shamel, Vice President
of Membership
We had 69 members present with eight guests.
Very special guests included Tom and Kathy
Wilcox who have moved to Florida. It was nice
having them back with us for the evening.
The club now consists of 174 members. Don
held a drawing for $25.00, which went to Charlie
Koninsky. A door prize for a $25 car wash was
donated by a member and was won by Deborah
Pesta.

8:17 PM
Fred Hale, NCM Ambassador
Fred encouraged members to join the National
Corvette Museum. Since the membership list on
the website notes NCM members, Fred plans to
contact non-members to ask them to join.
Please note the date of April 20-22 for the C5C6 Bash in Bowling Green.
Fred would like to have members of CG go to
the NCM to do volunteer work there. He
mentioned a date of early June and would like to
have participants sign up to trim shrubs,
maintain flowerbeds, and clean mirrors and
glass. The volunteers would then have an
opportunity to attend a behind-the-scenes tour.
8:20 PM
Chris Siddall, Corvette Store
Chris invited club members to take a look at
some of her new items: a blanket for $28.50
and a tote bag for $16.25, both with the club
logo and customized with a name. She offered
shirts, hats and koozies. Catalogs are available.
Members can give her their own clothing to have
the club logo added.
8:24 PM
Bridget Stephens, Webmaster
Bridget has the club website up and running at
100% capacity. It took two months to get there,
and Barry asked members to recognize Bridget
for a tough job well done.
Twenty former members have not yet renewed
their memberships. Bridget is in the process of
updating the membership list. She asked
anyone who has not already done so to send
her photos for the Members Garage. A
password change will go out via email next
weekend. An improvement on the website will
allow members to sign up for as many as four
events at a time. Also, a field has been added
to indicate an overnight stay with an event.
8:27 PM
at Large
Randy Cooper, Vice President
Randy held the 50/25/25 drawing. $180.00 was
collected, with $90.00 going to the club
Treasurer and $45 each going to Bob Renneke
and Charlie Koninsky.
8:25 PM
Wrap-Up and New Business
Bridget and Ron have been in contact via email
with two children in Germany, Simon age 12 and
Theresa age 10. They are collecting pins, and
Bridget asked club members to bring in any pins
to the next meeting that they would like to send
to these two young people in Germany. Also,
Ron is checking into New Generation
Membership from the NCM for these two
Corvette enthusiasts.
Wayne Ray informed us that former club
member Tommy Askew has been diagnosed
with brain cancer. In addition, Tommy has lost
his job. He has not been able to renew his club
membership, but he has been thinking about us.
He wishes to sell 2 of his corvettes – see
Corvettes For Sale on page 2 of this newsletter.

Valentine’s Cruise to Amicalola Falls
As the sun came up on Saturday February 11, the
forecast was not looking good. But as we all know,
the show must go on. 18 corvettes and 3 stealth
vehicles departed from the Best Buy at Northpoint to
begin our adventure to Amicalola Falls. We knew
the roads would be treacherous up north, so our trip
only took us up GA 400 to Dahlonega. We shopped,
we wandered, and we shopped some more. The
temperatures started dropping around 4:00 pm so that
was our cue to leave for the lodge. When we arrived,
we found we had reserved parking for all of us. We
met for dinner and had a great Prime Rib Buffet with
all the trimmings. It was also Don Shamel’s
birthday. You will have to ask him about his surprise
birthday present.
After dinner, one of the forestry folks gave us a
seminar with 2 owls, named Zeus and Goliath. Both
birds had been hit by moving vehicles and were
permanently home bound. It was very entertaining
and educational. It is amazing what you can see and
learn in the "middle of nowhere".
After the seminar, our entertainment began. We had
a private room set up for us complete with balloons
and valentine’s candy. We played Pictionary with
nearly 45 people. This turned out to be the hit of the
evening. Of course the women won the contest. We
always have 1 drawing that stands out the most. This

time was no exception, Bill Majoros and his rendition
of a Plaid Jacket won this prestigious honor on this
outing . After a quick break, most of us came back
to play another club favorite called Jenga. The club
record is 35 sets of moves set at the Champagne
Show in Birmingham in 2004. We made it to 32 this
evening. We will keep practicing.
The next morning we awoke to 3 – 4 inches of snow
on the ground. It was a great sight to see snow on the
vettes out front. After a great breakfast, most of
decided to leave and brave the roads. The roads were
fine as we made our way down the mountain and out
to the highway. This was a great trip and if anyone
missed it, be sure to go next year.
Trivia
