INTRODUCTION
There is a growing demand across all industry sectors for graduates who are trained to
analyze raw data and extract insights that can help businesses to plan strategically.
Data Analytics is used for many purposes, such as fraud detection, credit risk modeling,
forecasting, developing pricing models, monitoring personal health, etc. For the past few
years it has become an area of strategic importance nationally and internationally. The
need for data analytics is due to the massive accumulation of “Big Data” in all industries
to include but not limited to healthcare, finance, government (central, state, and local),
and cyber defense.
In this context a new specialist program “MSc in Data Analytics” is conceived, designed
and developed by the Faculty of Science & Technology (FST), IFHE, Hyderabad to meet
the demand of new age Data Analysts.
It is an inter-disciplinary two-year postgraduate program in Data Analysis. The objective
of the program is to impart students with strong computing and quantitative skills coupled
with an understanding of application of these techniques to business. The program will
provide the students hands-on experience to work with companies using complex data.
It also provides students the opportunity to study in detail the specialized aspects of data
analytics. The students need to undergo internship in companies where data analytics
is already implemented. This will help them integrate the educational topics learnt in the
classroom and apply them practically to overcome problems.
Areas in which opportunities for data analytics practitioners exist include retail, financial
services, telecommunications, health, gaming and digital media and government
organizations. Graduates will take roles such as analytics consultants, data warehouse
managers, business analysts, and master data managers.
We at IFHE are committed to offer innovative, market-driven, emerging programs for the
students. In this pursuit, we are offering the MSc in Data Analytics Program. There are
very few institutions/universities in India offering such a Program at PG level. Secondly,
because of the many application areas that could benefit from data analytics, the program
has the potential to contribute to regional and national prosperity.

Focus Areas
The Program consists of five core
courses along with following focus
areas: Computer Science, Prescriptive
Analytics, Statistics, and Applied
Information Technology. The students
can select one or more focus areas, with
the approval of their advisor, to choose
a coherent set of electives from different
areas.

This program is intended for enabling
practitioners, managers, and decisionmakers to use advanced analytics for better
decision-making and in-depth understanding

technique(s) and relating to businesses

The program may also be of interest
to participants from various analytics
organizations to better understand the
underlying concepts of these advanced
techniques. An aptitude for quantitative
modeling and some prior experience in use
of analytics is desirable.

• Other graduates are also eligible provided they have a strong grounding in following areas:

required to undergo a Foundation Course administered by us before they take up the MSc
Program.

built-up area of over 10 lakh sq.ft. The fully
residential campus is equipped with the stateof-the-art teaching, sports and recreational

campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

Selection to the M.Sc Data Analytics Program is highly
competitive. The Program is for candidates having
consistently good academic record, professional
accomplishments and a strong urge to contribute
to knowledge creation and dissemination in interdisciplinary areas with focus on main technical areas
of Data Analytics which include:

The admission process will be conducted for two days
and will be held at the campus of ICFAI Foundation
for Higher Education (IFHE) at Hyderabad. The
shortlisted applicants will receive the interview call
letter along with the enrolment form, personal data
form, the scheduled date for the admission process.

to undergo a Foundation Course administered by
us before they take up the MSc Program.
Admission Interview: The objective of the final
interview is to assess the applicant’s competence
in the subject studied, motivation, attitude and
motivation to pursue the Program.
Those who are finally selected for admission or
waitlisted will be intimated individually.
Commencement of Classes: The classes will
commence from September 14, 2015 at the
IcfaiTech, Faculty of Science & Technology, IFHE
Campus.

Admission Fee

Students Activity Fund
Program Fee
All students are required to pay the Students Activity
Fund of ` 5,000 at the beginning of the first semester.
Students have to pay a fee of ` 85,000/- at the
beginning of each semester.
Alumni Fee
Remittance
An amount of ` 5,000 need to be paid by all the
students towards Alumni Fee at the beginning of the
first semester.
All payments should be made by way of Demand
Draft in favour of “The ICFAI Foundation for Higher
Education - Fee Collection A/c”, payable at Hyderabad.
Accommodation and Transportation for
Students
Caution Deposit
All students are required to pay a caution deposit
of `10,000 at the time of admission. This deposit is
towards library books, use of computer and other
facilities. The caution deposit will be refunded without
interest (and after adjusting fee dues, if any) on
Hostel facility is available within the campus. Limited
hostel rooms are available at IFHE campus, Day
scholars can avail bus facility from city to campus
on payment basis.
