Meet “The Debaters”
Last week we told you why News/Talk/Sports radio broadcasters should
make plans to attend the 2012 NAB/RAB Radio Show in Dallas. This
week, we want to introduce you to the hosts who will participate in a
special Thursday afternoon (9/20) Super Session, The Great Debate
And How To Sell It. Moderated by your NTS MediaOnline Weekly
editor, this special two-part session will feature FOX News Radio host
Alan Colmes, Premiere Networks America Now host Andy Dean,
Cumulus Media Networks syndicated radio host and FOX News
Channel personality Geraldo Rivera, and Jill Schlesinger, host of
Dial Global’s syndicated Jill On Money and CBS Marketwatch.com’s
Editor-At-Large. This “million dollar quartet” of nationally syndicated
Talk radio hosts will tackle and debate a variety of hot button issues on
the minds of both voters and broadcasters this fall. With opinions flying
from the left, right and center, attendees can be assured of a spirited
debate at this “can’t miss” session that will take place immediately after
lunch on the convention’s second day. Let’s meet the players:
Alan Colmes, FOX News Radio
After hosting a string of successful radio shows
on WNBC, WABC and WMCA in New York
City, Alan Colmes garnered a reputation as
a hard-hitting liberal, known for his electric
commentary on the American agenda. His show
has long been a popular stop for key political and
pop culture figures including President Barack
Obama, former President Bill Clinton, former
Vice President Al Gore, former Second Lady
Lynn Cheney, former Pakistani President
Pervez Musharraf, current Secretary of State
ALAN COLMES
and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, Senators John Kerry and John
McCain, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, bestselling
author and physician Deepak Chopra and legendary singer/songwriter
Carole King, to name a few. After penetrating both the Boston and New
York markets with hit local radio shows, Colmes went from major market
success to national Talk radio prominence in 1990 with his fast-paced and
informative afternoon news-driven show that aired daily on hundreds of
affiliates nationwide. He joined FOX News Channel in 1996, where he
co-hosted the groundbreaking cable television show Hannity & Colmes
for over twelve years. Today his nightly FOX News Radio syndicated
show is heard on radio stations all across America, as well as on SiriusXM
Satellite Radio, and the American Forces Radio Network.
Andy Dean, Premiere Networks
As host of the nationally syndicated America
Now with Andy Dean, one of the format’s newest
national talk personalities focuses his nightly show
on the news and information that matters most to
the daily lives of Americans. From business and
politics, to entertainment and technology, Dean
welcomes a variety of guests and delivers a fresh,
smart and witty take on the local, national and
global headlines of the day. Dean got his start
in the media business as a contestant on NBC’s
ANDY DEAN
The Apprentice. At the age of 22, he was the
youngest candidate to compete on the program. More than 16 million
people watched as Dean was “fired” at the end of the series. However,
one month later in real life, Donald Trump “re-hired” Dean to work for
him as President of Trump Productions, where he spent six years working
for “The Donald” in New York and Los Angeles. A South Florida native,
