The internal word processor allows you to edit reports in LogiKal® as well as export the reports to Microsoft Office products or other Office solutions. LogiKal® allows your company to have more than one manufacturers‘ catalog avaliable within the same estimate allowing estimators to create elevations of different manufacturers within the same estimate, i.e., storefront from one supplier and a curtainwall from a second supplier in the same estimate. The program has the ability to check structural design per ASCE and UBC codes on profiles, both wind load and dead load. The built in AMA standards for glass always ensures that your glass meets design pressures. The LogiKal® basic version creates a perfect working environment for creating fast, accurate estimates. Learn more about how to access new potential on the following pages. 5 FROM QUOTING TO INVOICING Input of Elevations The user friendly interface of LogiKal® promotes a quick learning curve. Easy entry of Storefronts, Windows, Doors & Curtainwalls is fast in the Input of Elevations section. Pre-define metal groups in system preferences and always have the same material applied to your elevations as you build them. LogiKal® guides users through the whole input process reducing errors and increasing productivity. Design geometry quickly and customize elevations, change profiles, add hardware and glass. As users input elevations LogiKal® automatically checks elevations for 6 technical feasibility. For example, LogiKal® warns the user if the connection between two mullions is non standard and if additional attention is required for estimation and fabrication. Add wind load and dead load clips to get comprehensive elevations as well as complete material take-offs and orders. LogiKal® can create arched frames and pitched frames with just a click. Insert elevations from other jobs or copy and mirror existing elevations in the same job. Use LogiKal® built-in Elevation Library to store your standard elevation and insert them on the fly. A friendly wizard guides you to select hardware step by step. You can also create predefined or customized hardware packages. Creating hardware packages allows the user to apply all required hardware with the click of a button. Complex two-dimensional elevations can be drawn as a line drawing in the LogiKal®- 2D CAD suite or imported from AutoCAD. After the import from AutoCAD, LogiKal® can automatically apply the preassigned metal group to the center line drawing. Insert elevations from the template library and modify them so they match your needs. For instance a user can insert an elevation and edit the finish or mullions in just a fraction of the time required to estimate with your existing package. LogiKal® tracks all kinds of material: Aluminum, Steel, Plastics and Wood products. 7 Reports LogiKal® creates different reports for important information. The layout of reports can be customized by various set-up options. Decide for yourself which information shall be displayed on the reports. Determine if the entire job, phases or only selected positions shall be part of the report. Combine elevations from separate jobs and summarize them on a single printout. Depending on the report, you may edit these either in the LogiKal® word processor or directly in Microsoft Word or Excel. Thanks to LogiKal®’s direct interface with Microsoft Office products this is fully automatic. Learn more about the individual reports in LogiKal® on the following pages. 8 Estimation Based on your input and supplier price information saved in the database, LogiKal® calculates The user determines whether all elevations or single elevations are estimated. Project managers can use this command to review the job after job turnover meetings. Information about quantities, colors, systems, glass types and frame location can be provided automatically. Material Analysis This command enables the project manager to review material requirements for their jobs. This report shows all required Aluminum, Glass, accessories and sundries, helping the project manager to become familiar with the requirements of the job. U-Value Report 10 The U-values are calculated automatically during the input of an elevation. The results are presented clearly and comprehensibly in the U-value report. Estimators or outside sales now have the ability to provide the architect with the correct U-Values on every elevation on the entire project. No other estimating software has this ability. FUNCTIONALITY WITH A CLICK OF A BUTTON Assembly List Report (TAG Drawings) The elevations are sorted by position and broken down into individual extrusions. LogiKal® provides a complete tag drawing. This allows the shop to know exactly where each piece of metal is placed on every elevation. This Assembly list also shows the location of every piece of glass. Installation Plan Report Create installation plans for your field crew with a click. Print elevationrelated overviews. This report provides the installation crew with a layout of all the elevations they must install for a period of time providing the following information: Number of elevations, size of elevations, number of lites that must be glazed and total linear footage of sealant required. Orders Create orders for aluminum, accessories, hardware, doors, gasket frames, coatings, glass and panels with the click of a button. The orders are separated by supplier and finish for each aluminum system. 11 Glass and Panel Report Create clearly arranged and sorted glass and panel estimations. Print RFP‘s and e-mail them to your glass or panel fabricator. Glass Assignment Plan Report (Glass Tag Drawing) Provide your field crew the installation locations of each piece of glass in every elevation and the location of every elevation on the building. This report provides the Glazier with a complete overview of each location and a tag that will correlate with the manufacture‘s tag on each piece of glass. Shaped Glass Drawing Report LogiKal® automatically creates dimensioned shaped-glass drawings. Provide this to your glass fabricater for exact pattern lites. Have the fabricator label the glass with the provided information on the shaped drawing so your Glazier can use his Glass Assignment plan. 12 Daylight Dimension Drawing Report Generate Daylight Dimension drawings of elevations so you can back check glass sizes. Send this report to the glass fabricator so they can tag your glass per elevation mark, bay location and frame location in the building. Project Plan Drawing Project Plan automatically creates a basic set of shop drawings for your job. Just Click and you have a complete elevation with dimensions and sections. Create a title block and either export to AutoCAD or print to a .pdf and provide this to your client. Quotations, Order Confirmations, Delivery Notes and Invoice Reports All the above reports contain elevation drawings with descriptions including colors, sizes and additional items (i.e. Break Metal), as well as unit prices and total amounts. Use your company standard language in Templates and create quick Quotes in the LogiKal® word processor or in Microsoft Word. 13 Structural Analysis on Mullions Beam Analysis LogiKal® contains the ability to run preliminary structural design according to ASCE and UBC standards. Wind loads can either be determined manually or calculated automatically by LogiKal®. Set your building Occupancy catagory, base wind speed and Exposure Catagory with just a CLICK. A wind load map supports your orientation and helps to recognize areas. If the wind load has been provided by a wind tunnel test then you can also enter the value directly. LogiKal®’s beam statics module calculates the required moment of inertia (Ix) for each individual vertical and horizontal. The program considers vertically installed Storefront, Windows, Door and Curtainwall elements for wind load. In Storefront, Windows, Door and Curtainwalls, horizontals are always applied as single span beams. For Curtainwall vertical mullions, continuous beam theory is applied, the number of spans and their dimensions are considered. Spans are defined by the input of intermediate supports. Values you set up in LogiKal‘s® Structural Analysis module can be saved as defaults and called up on every job. 14 Glass All common glass types such as annealed glass, heat strengthened safety glass (HSG), tempered glass (TG) and laminated safety glass (LSG) are available during input of elevations. Based on the wind load, the current stress and deflection values, each individual glass pane shall be calculated. The results are checked in compliance with ASTM E1300 glass standards. If applicable, climatic loads evoked by season-dependent pressure differences in insulated glass units may be considered also. The deflection limits are defined by your glass supplier and entered by you in LogiKal®’s limit value form. 15 Cross Sections LogiKal® will automatically generate cross-section drawings of all elevations. Corners, knee walls, insulated-glass units, part numbers etc. are displayed in detail. The sections may either be printed directly or you can export the section drawings directly to AutoCAD. This is a useful tool for the drafting and engineering department. With cross sections you can see every part the estimator used in his bid. The export of bitmap and vector formats such as BMP, JPG and EMF is also possible. 16 Additional Optimization Enter hand calculated cutting lengths in the additional optimization. You may either apply LogiKal® profiles or existing stock length dimensions and create an optimized list for cutting or orders. The report corresponds with the cut optimization printout. (see Cut Optimization on page 19). 17 2D Optimization Rectangular sheet metal can be optimized. LogiKal® has the ablility to optimize with the grain or against the grain of the material. The report provides the quantity of the break metal sheets, wastage per sheet and total wastage. The sheet metal sizes may be altered to reduce the amount of wastage. 18 Cut Optimization All extrusions within a job are optimized reducing wastage to a minimum. A picture shows the extrusion orientation of the saw and the order of the individual lengths to be cut. LogiKal® will also consider residual lengths or existing stock. The program calculates the optiminal lengths. Different length ranges can be set by the user and multiple special lengths per profile can be calculated by LogiKal®. Bar codes can be printed on labels and assigned to each profile. (see also paragraph CNC, on page 24). 19 Saw Control LogiKal® writes saw cutting files for all common saws which are able to import data. The cut optimization is transferred to the saw file. The file can be transferred to the saw by USB drive or directly through your network if applicable. The saw files also includes bar code information which allows the scanner at the CNC machine to process the work. 20 BAR DRAWINGS AND MACHINING The fabrication drawings module and machining is an essential tool for all fabricators. Automatically generate complete fabrication drawings with the click of a button for Storefronts, Doors, Windows or Curtainwalls. With LogiKal® you don’t have to create the drawings by hand anymore. Continue reading to learn how LogiKal® can help your company to save even more time by optimizing working processes. 21 When creating elevations, LogiKal® automatically identifies machining for connections, notches and door and window hardware. The intelligent hardware manager enables you to select door hardware quickly. LogiKal® automatically runs collision checks on the selected hardware. During this process LogiKal® takes into account both the hardware location and material it is applied to. For instance, LogiKal® “knows” the maximum space which needs to be milled out for a lock. Knowing this allows LogiKal® to calculate the actual material to be machined and automatically generates the required depth tables. LogiKal® displays the calculated machining in multiple ways - in the module Fabrication Drawings & Machining, as CAD drawing or as printouts. Users can also view to scale in a machinings in the LogiKal® 3D viewer. 22 Fabrication Drawings can also be transferred directly to LogiKal®-CAD, AutoCAD or other external CAD systems. LogiKal® reduces the possibility of mistakes while creating fabrication drawings of individual extrusions. If you want to transfer fabrication drawings directly to a machining center, then simply use the modules for controlling CNC machining centers – for single profile machining as well as machining of the entire stock length. CNC Computer Numerical Control Create elevations within seconds and transfer them to a CNC machining center (without going the long way round). With LogiKal® CNC we have the perfect solution for you. Find out how machine links can help you, please continue reading . . . 24 Almost all CNC machining centers can be controlled by LogiKal®. BEST has existing relationships with BJM, Elumatec, Emmegi, Fischer (FMB), Handymann, Mecal, Schüco (Emmegi, BJM) and Tekna. Also, CNC machining centers which can be controlled by NCX like Nikom or Maka. LogiKal® performs the collision control and loads tools from the machine tool file. Then the program creates a complete tool and orientation assignment for delivery to the CNC software. All tools are checked for collisions with the extrusions. This allows the creation of collision-free machining files (tool-extrusion-collision). If a profile cannot be machined in one clamp orientation the program splits up the machining in different clamp orientations. LogiKal® contains an internal CAD which is easy to use and user-friendly. The clear arrangement of all functions enables users to find the ideal tool for fast and accurate drafting. Drawing of sill flashing, brake metal, insulation, guidelines, etc. can be created easily and quickly by the LogiKal® CAD. Drawing objects can be selected and edited at any time. Automatically assigned labels speed the process. Frequently used drawings may be saved as blocks. Changes are performed in the block manager and automatically updated throughout the entire drawing. Cross sections of individual elevations are imported into CAD by the cross-section module. Users have the possibility to export elevations and plans along with assembly lists as drawings also. With the aid of well-arranged dialogues, the user can choose which information shall be shown in the drawing. Curtainwall sections and extrusion configurations are easily and quickly created 29 2D INTERFACE FOR CAD SYSTEMS Use information from LogiKal® in external CAD systems. Rely on our 2D interface to external CAD packages. From within your CAD System, you can start LogiKal®, i.e. from within AutoCAD, a user can run LogiKal®. DWG/DXF The standard DWG and DXF formats allow you to quickly move drawings between different CAD systems. Create drawings in LogiKal® CAD save them as DWG or DXF files then open them in external CAD systems. You also have the possibility to import drawings from other CAD systems into LogiKal® CAD. Users are capable of saving in the following formats:BMP, JPEG, EMF, PS and ZIP. 30 Export details in AutoCAD from LogiKal® in seconds. This complete integration between systems allows small and large businesses the ability to work effectively to meet short production time lines. 32 ERP INTERFACE Output-Interface for Production Planning Software and ERP Systems A general interface provides the transfer of job information to PPS and ERP systems. XML or other file formats such as CSV and DSTV are used for the data exchange. The technical preparation of the elevations is performed in LogiKal® based on the elements entered by the user. Apart from generating material take-offs and calculating glass (including shaped glass), all CNC-relevant data for a later transfer to saws and CNC machining centers are created automatically. LogiKal‘s® technical evaluation breaks down the elevation-related optimized material take-off and the corresponding parts lists. These lists are exported to the ERP or PPS system by the XML interface. The XML interface is very flexible. It is also possible to customize the output and transfer files for specific software such as BEST ‘s PrefSuite ERP software designed specifically for the Fenestration industry. 33 System Independence LogiKal® embodies the databases from numerous well-known architectural aluminum suppliers. Many suppliers recommend LogiKal® exclusively or distribute it themselves. Since LogiKal® considers the specialities of different suppliers and vendors and combines the systems of variable suppliers you are always able to react quickly to individual circumstances with LogiKal®. Database LogiKal® provides the option to enter items in a user database. For instance, customized fittings can be summarized in hardware packages. The program allows the combination of different suppliers fittings. The pricing of annealed and tempered glass is either considered directly per unit or by a markup on glass unit lists. Program and database updates have no effect on user entries. 34 Network LogiKal® has the ability to run in a network enviroment. Program, databases, jobs and user settings are centrally saved and thus part of your nightly data backup. LogiKal® copies used files to the local computer in order to speed up the program performance. This data is synchronized with the server data with automatic save. Updates are sent directly to the server and are available for all users after start-up of the program. The support of terminal servers (Windows, Citrix) allows an external access to LogiKal® including applications now available for both the Apple I-Pad Android operating platforms. It is also possible to work via terminal server access and standard network at the same time. The technical licensing is also centrally managed through a server dongle. The licences are only locked when in use, i.e. the program may be launched from any computer in the network, as long as the maximum number of licences is not exceeded.
