Classes are available to students and staff of the University of Birmingham, members of the Munrow Sports Centre and community non-members. There are Dance, Toning, Aerobic, Holistic, Aqua and Specialist classes to choose from and they are suitable for all abilities, some with a choice of beginner or intermediate levels. The emphasis is to exercise in a fun and friendly environment, which encourages people to join in, meet new friends, and find something that they enjoy doing! Check out the benefits of taking part in GROUP EXERCISE: Get active! Get healthy! Pushing boundaries: A class can help you move past a plateau —perfect if you want to push yourself a little bit and improve. Body image: Exercise not only helps to change your body shape, but improves how you see yourself. Look better, feel better. Get happy! Physical benefits: Physical activity can improve fitness, strength, flexibility, general health and body composition. Psychological lifts: Being physically active can bolster good mental health and can help you to manage stress, anxiety and even depression. Meet your community: Fitness classes are a wonderful place to meet people who have similar lifestyle goals and needs. Buddy up: Find someone who attends the same class and use each other as a motivator to attend each week. FREE CLASS WEEK We have introduced a FREE CLASS WEEK at the beginning of the Autumn and Spring terms where anyone can book a class for FREE. It’s a great way to try a class that you might not have tried before and get a feel for the Active Lifestyle Programme. Follow the ‘How to book’ steps on page 12. Places are restricted and only available on a first come, first served basis. Booking online Purchasing a voucher: nYou will need your ID and PIN number (this should have been sent to you by email when you first joined). You can request it again at reception or by phone on 0121 414 4117 nOnce you have your login details go to www.sport.bham.ac.uk and click on ‘memberships’ then ‘purchase membership’ nChoose your voucher from the list and proceed to the payment section nYour voucher can be used throughout term and vacation. All bookings should be made within the voucher validity period Booking a class: nLogin using your ID and PIN nClick on ‘make a booking’ (classes can be booked online up until 30 minutes before a class) nChoose Munrow Sports Centre from the site list Term nYou will now see a list of all the activities available to you. Simply navigate to the required class and book Cancelling a class: nLogin as detailed before and navigate to your booked class nSimply click ‘cancel’ and your credit will be reapplied to your voucher (please note class cancellations can only be made up until 30 mins before the class start time) Booking at Munrow Sports Centre reception: nBring your staff/student/membership ID card with appropriate payment to the sports centre reception Class attendance For all classes please wear appropriate and comfortable clothing/footwear, and bring with you a towel and water. Remember to bring your student/staff/ membership ID card as random spot checks will be carried out throughout the year. Admission will be refused to anyone later than 10 mins to a class.
